Weingut Brundlmayer Ried Loiserberg 1 OTW Gruner Veltliner 2020 / 750 ml.

Item#: 97810

WS9393 pts. - Wine & Spirits - 04/22
Bright acidity cuts through this wine’s smoky reduction, giving it a fresh, energetic feel. It’s chalky and mineral, with a distinctly saline streak intensifying its savor. The wine lasting on succulent notes of lemon, quince and green pear.
JS9393 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Thursday, February 3, 2022
Tons of mirabelle fruit, citrusy freshness and mineral energy here, also some real power for just 12.5% alcohol (modest for gruner veltliner). Good focus and elegance on the long finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

While Austria doesn't produce the volume of wine of many of its European counterparts, there are some critically-acclaimed wines being produced within its borders. Wines made of Grüner Veltliner, a white wine grape, dominate the Austrian wine market, though you'll also find other varietals like Riesling and Lemberger.

RP9292 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 8th Dec 2022
From gneiss soils and vinified in large old-oak vats, the 2021 Grüner Veltliner Ried Loiserberg 1ÖTW was whole-cluster pressed with no destemming and combines aromas of fresh-cut grass with aromas of ripe and elegant seed fruit. Lush and elegant on the palate, this is a textural Veltliner with fine phenolic grip and stimulating salinity on the finish. This very elegant and balanced Veltliner was bottled in July of this year. 12.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in September 2022. (Stephan Reinhardt)
SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Aug 31, 2023
Features a core of peach, ripe apple and spices, with an acidic lemon-lime beam bringing balance. Gilded with warm toast and spices, this also has a smoky mineral layer that’s beautifully integrated, while a kick of fleur de sel and pink grapefruit pith mark the lengthy finish. Drink now through 2027. (Kristen Bieler)
