Marlborough is undoubtedly New Zealand's most famous wine region, producing many of the crisp and fresh Sauvignon Blancs that put New Zealand on the wine map.
Located on the northeastern corner of South Island, this region is bordered by the Pacific Ocean to the east and towering mountains to the north and south. This spectacularly beautiful setting has the ideal climate and soil composition for Sauvignon Blanc vineyards.

From the crisp acidity of a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc to the bold complexity of Central Otago’s Pinot Noirs, New Zealand wine is as unmistakable as it is unapologetic. Still a relative newcomer to the wine industry after making a splash in the global market in the late 1970’s, New Zealand has wasted no time in carving out a name for themselves and their distinctive wines.
Sauvignon Blanc is New Zealand’s crown jewel, and thus, the most exported wine. The ferocious acidity and stark notes of grapefruit, gooseberry, and cut grass lead to an unforgettable wine drinking experience.
Other grapes of note in New Zealand include Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Riesling. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are also being grown for Bordeaux-style blends in the Hawke’s Bay region as well.

Fresh and crisp, with lemon-lime and yuzu flavors, notes of ginger and herbs on a mouthwatering frame. Drink now. 74,704 cases made, 74,704 cases imported. (MaryAnn Worobiec)
A fresh, fruit-filled nose of peach and passionfruit, backed by dried herb and green veg nuances, leads to a razor-sharp palate. Acidity is prickly and a touch of residual sugar flares up on the finish, and the fruit falls somewhat to the wayside. (Christina Pickard)

Aromatic, with terrific precision to the herbal details of white pepper, grapefruit, lemongrass and fresh-grated ginger. Packs a core of mouthwatering Meyer lemon, ruby grapefruit and green apple flavors that show a thread of savory salinity, with an intense, fresh finish. Drink now. 100,000 cases made, 70,000 cases imported. (MaryAnn Worobiec)
Give this some aeration in glass for the attractive aromas of lime and grapefruit citrus, and white peach to float to the fore. There’s a soft green-herbal underbelly. The palate is crisp and slippery, those citrus notes on display until the finish. Still young at the time of tasting (Sept. ’22), this should find even more expression with another six months to a year in bottle. (Christina Pickard)

The 2022 Organic Sauvignon Blanc is tropical and rich on the nose. The wine leads with salted pineapple, peach, brine and stewed apples. In the mouth, it is broad, flat and simple. There is fruit there, but its final, best year might be this one. Drink up. 12.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap. (Erin Larkin)
A toasted herb note and a hint of lanolin add a savory element to the peach, apricot and citrus flavors at the core on a medium body. Drink now. 15,514 cases made, 5,000 cases imported. (MaryAnn Worobiec)

Luscious and expressive, with terrific concentration to the ripe peach, passion fruit and yuzu flavors on a sleek and juicy frame. Drink now. 3,200 cases made, 1,050 cases imported. (MaryAnn Worobiec)
Very youthful and punchy nose with lots of green apples, gooseberries, green beans and white asparagus. Very fresh, yet simple and direct on the palate, which quickly turns acidic with a concise finish. It needs mid-palate intensity to be rated any higher than this. Vegan. Sustainable. Drink now. Screw cap.
