Dr. Konstantin Frank Dry Riesling 2022 / 750 ml.

Item#: 77978

I love the apple blossom and white peach aromas of this racy and very focused dry riesling that is only medium-bodied (12% alcohol), but it is beautifully balanced with a long crisp wet stone finish. The best vintage of this Finger Lakes stalwart in quite a few years! Drink or hold. Screw cap. (Stuart Pigott)

A vibrant perfume of honeyed apple, citrus blossom and peach leap from the glass. Dry but with richness and oodles of fruit and floral flavor, this is an unmistakably Finger Lakes expression that finds balance and tangy freshness right to the end. (Christina Pickard)
WS9191 pts. - Wine & Spirits - 04/23
Scents of lemon and passion fruit have a mildly petrol-like overtone here. The flavors are bright and herbal, fiercely dry, with a mineral grip that’s hunger-inducing for prawns.

Officially established in 1982, the Finger Lakes region has a storied history of wine production in New York State and is recognized the world over. The deep glacially formed lakes offer sublime growing conditions thanks to the sloping hillsides and moderating effect the lakes have on the temperature of the surrounding area.

The main growing regions are centered around Cayuga Lake and Seneca Lake (which each have their own AVAs) but quality wine is being made throughout the region. Riesling is the belle of the ball in the Finger Lakes (oftentimes being compared to the Rieslings of Germany) but success has been had with Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, and others.

Seeing as our store is located in the midst of New York's wine regions, we have a special affinity for New York wines. And so should you! New York is now producing some of the world's best Rieslings and Pinot Noirs, and there are lots of other terrific wines made from grapes like Catawba, Niagara, Cabernet Franc and others being produced here, as well. Every year, the quality, reputation, and demand for New York wines continue to soar. What are you waiting for? Uncork New York!

View more wines from United States

The United States now ranks fourth in the world in wine production behind, France, Italy, and Spain. While about 90% of that wine is produced in California, other states like Oregon, New York, and Washington are establishing themselves as prime spots for wine production, as well. Just about any variety of wine can be found in production somewhere in the United States.

A heady, musky perfume jumps from the glass at first sniff. There’s orange oil, honey and grape preserves. The palate is almost surprisingly dry after the heady aromas, with some chalky textural weight, a touch of residual sugar, balanced acidity and flavor to the finish. (Christina Pickard)

Brimming with melon, citrus and fresh mint, this is effusive and vibrant with whiplash acidity that absorbs the touch of natural grape sweetness in this barely off-dry wine. Long, zesty finish. Drink or hold. (Stuart Pigott)

Bright and bouncy, from first fruity sniff it’s reminiscent of melon sherbet, lemongrass and white florals. While a touch of residual sugar peeks through the cracks, racy acidity gives it a drier impression, making it suitable drinking for spicy Mexican, spring rolls or Thai green curry. Rich aromas of honey and lamp oil mingle with peach pit and lemon rind. The mouthfilling palate offers delicate sweetness without veering into syrupy territory. It shows restraint and lovely prickly, citrusy acidity to a long, floral finish. Bravo to this estate’s new winemaker, Craig Hosbach, for delivering a beauty in a fine vintage. (Christina Pickard)

A rich, heady bottling, this exudes crème brûlée, lemon sorbet and mushroom broth. On the palate there’s what feels like a hint of residual sugar, despite the dry label, and it’s a touch volatile, with the acetone notes getting jumbled up with the citrus ones. There’s a mushroomy tinge to the finish. (Christina Pickard)

This youthful dry riesling has a slew of floral and herbal nuances, together with delicate stone-fruit and wild-berry notes. So elegant, in spite of the full, juicy fruit on the palate. The long, wet-stone finish is racy and pristine. Made with grapes from the estate vineyard on Keuka Lake. Drink or hold. Screw cap.
RP9292 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 12th May 2022
The 2020 Dry Riesling Eugenia comes in with three grams of residual sugar against 6.9 of total acidity and 12.9% alcohol. This is a single-vineyard selection from 1968 vines on soils with high slate content. The winery calls it their best Riesling plot. This is a surprisingly friendly wine this year, perhaps typical of the vintage. Maybe one day it will close down, but not today. It is splendid, showing off fine depth, a fruity demeanor and respectable power. As fruity as it is, it shows off a little tension on the finish too. This is very accessible this year, but it’s still likely to improve in the cellar. The winery is a strong proponent of the 2020 vintage (and they aren’t the only ones), but as impressive as this is, and granting that both are not here together, I’d take the 2019 just now. That may be slower-developing, but in a few years, a comparison will be intriguing. They are both very fine.

A very striking, herbal and licorice nose leads you into this sleek and polished dry white. Some tannins give grip to the crisp lemon and mineral finish. Screw cap.

Juicy and lively, with crunchy acidity carrying a range of fennel, pippin apple, kiwifruit core and lime zest notes. Shows good cut on the mouthwatering finish. Drink now through 2021. 370 cases made.

RP9292 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 3rd Jun 2021
The 2019 Dry Riesling “Margrit” comes in with 7.39 grams of residual sugar and 9.7 of total acidity, plus 12.8% alcohol. That is dry. This is sourced from a single vineyard on Seneca Lake, owned by the winery, that was planted in 2008. The winery says the site is somewhat warmer than their Keuka Lake properties, producing a riper wine. A big step up over the last I saw, this has power but also a juicy finish that displays fine fruit. As powerful as it is, it not just an acid-freak wine. That long finish is gripping and tense. The aromatics are powerful too, while the mid-palate is simply solid. This food-wine Riesling shows every sign of improving over the next decade. It may have layers yet to reveal. Giving it a year or so of cellar time would be a good idea.
WE9191 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 5/1/2021
Sourced from a vineyard on Seneca Lake, this wine offers a stony, earthy core surrounded by citrus and apple tones on the nose. The palate is broad and juicy yet dry in style, with honed lemon, pome fruit and crushed stone elements zipping along. (Alexander Peartree)
