When it comes to US wine production, California is King. California wines account for almost 90% of all wines produced in the United States each year, and is home to the most celebrated vineyards and producers in the country. California is probably best known for its world-famous Cabernets and Chardonnays, many of which hail from its two most-acclaimed AVAs, Napa Valley and Sonoma County. Other prominent grapes used in California wines include Merlot, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, and Zinfandel (which California made popular).

The United States now ranks fourth in the world in wine production behind, France, Italy, and Spain. While about 90% of that wine is produced in California, other states like Oregon, New York, and Washington are establishing themselves as prime spots for wine production, as well. Just about any variety of wine can be found in production somewhere in the United States.

This is perfumed with notes of yuzu, white peaches, chamomile, jasmine and beeswax. Medium- to full-bodied and lean with sleek texture and crunchy acidity. Juicy, attractive and easy to drink. Drink now. (James Suckling)
SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Apr 30, 2024
Juicy and bright, with fresh acidity, showing good intensity to the lemon curd and tangerine flavors at the core. Delivers elegant details of vanilla custard, spices and lemon blossoms on a round, supple frame. Drink now. 2,800 cases made. (MaryAnn Worobiec)
RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st Mar 2023
The nose of the 2021 Chardonnay is marked by scents of pencil shavings and lemon squares, plus hints of white peaches and flower shop greens. Aged 10 months in 40% new French oak, it’s medium-bodied and tight on the palate, with a crispness and focus not always apparent in Napa Chards. It seems a bit different in style than the 2019 but equally good. (Joe Czerwinski)

JS9292 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Wednesday, October 5, 2022
Ripe nose, full of spiced lemon, pineapple and a savory, leesy undertone. Bright and full-bodied for a chardonnay, showing some elegant citrus flavors in the mid-palate, with fine lees and a subtle, grippy finish. Drink now. (James Suckling)
RP8888 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st Mar 2023
The 2021 Estate Grown Chardonnay Mitsuko’s Vineyard kicks off fermentation in tank before being transferred into barrels for the second half of the primary fermentation (and malolactic fermentation). Featuring scents of tangerine, sweet corn and vanilla (30% new French oak is employed), it’s a bit eccentric but flavorful and reasonably intense. It’s medium to full-bodied, plump and generous on the palate, with an appealing touch of baking spices on the finish. (Joe Czerwinski)

RP9797 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 14th Dec 2023
The 2021 Chardonnay H. Klopp Vineyard, from vines planted in classic Goldridge soils, is bursting with alluring, layered aromas: quince paste, honey and white peach are complemented by accents of roasted almonds and graham cracker, and the palate matches that intensity with its highly concentrated, honeyed flavors. All that flavor is supported by a spine of vibrant acidity, and a touch of textural grip drives a very long finish. This is so delicious! 300 cases were made. (Erin Brooks)
SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Jul 31, 2024
A robust version, offering grilled lemon, pear and apple flavors, plus a ripe melon note and a drizzle of wildflower honey. Ending with grace notes of spices, toast and buttery shortbread, this shows terrific persistence on the finish. Drink now. 300 cases made. (MaryAnn Worobiec)
VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2024
The 2021 Chardonnay H. Klopp Vineyard is a very pretty, understated wine. Orchard fruit, ginger, white flowers, mint and chamomile are all nicely lifted. The nuanced Chardonnay is quite attractive. This is an especially acid-driven style, and I find it a bit austere today. (Antonio Galloni)

Bright acidity washes flavors of crisp apple, creamy lemon, grapefruit zest and wet stone through the mouth into an impressively long finish. This Chardonnay is as much about freshness and energy as it is purity and restraint. The use of French oak offers a touch of spice and texture for another layer of interest through the finish. JS9191 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Wednesday, October 5, 2022
A well-balanced Napa chardonnay, where oak does not intrude. Just a hint of creaminess to the lemony fruit with subtle spices. Fresh, elegant and smooth palate with medium to full body, showing a hint of oak phenolics at the end, which provide a nice grip. Drink now. (James Suckling)

Milky aromas and a subtle blend of oak, butter and baking spices invest this medium-bodied and well-balanced wine with good complexity. Balancing richness with a tang of acidity, the wine is both appetizing and rather deep. (Jim Gordon)
