This is another deft punch from this brand, starting with aromas of chalk, lychee, poached pear and honeysuckle. That chalky tension holds firm through the tropical notes of pineapple and lychee on the palate. (Matt Kettmann)

From the Producer

Our Chardonnay captures the cool-climate terroir of Central Coast at its best. Stone fruit aromas segue to flavors of green apple and zesty citrus on the palate, framed by a lively, refreshing finish. This clean, un-oaked style of Chardonnay is elegant and lean—the perfect complement for light pastas, grilled fish or summer salads.

When it comes to US wine production, California is King. California wines account for almost 90% of all wines produced in the United States each year, and is home to the most celebrated vineyards and producers in the country. California is probably best known for its world-famous Cabernets and Chardonnays, many of which hail from its two most-acclaimed AVAs, Napa Valley and Sonoma County. Other prominent grapes used in California wines include Merlot, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, and Zinfandel (which California made popular).

The United States now ranks fourth in the world in wine production behind, France, Italy, and Spain. While about 90% of that wine is produced in California, other states like Oregon, New York, and Washington are establishing themselves as prime spots for wine production, as well. Just about any variety of wine can be found in production somewhere in the United States.

Another stellar bottling from this bigger brand, this wine kicks off with tightly wound pomelo pith, white flower and citrus-flesh aromas. The palate’s grippy texture frames lychee and pear flavors. (Matt Kettmann)

Bright acidity washes flavors of crisp apple, creamy lemon, grapefruit zest and wet stone through the mouth into an impressively long finish. This Chardonnay is as much about freshness and energy as it is purity and restraint. The use of French oak offers a touch of spice and texture for another layer of interest through the finish. This is perfumed with notes of yuzu, white peaches, chamomile, jasmine and beeswax. Medium- to full-bodied and lean with sleek texture and crunchy acidity. Juicy, attractive and easy to drink. Drink now. (James Suckling)
SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Apr 30, 2024
Juicy and bright, with fresh acidity, showing good intensity to the lemon curd and tangerine flavors at the core. Delivers elegant details of vanilla custard, spices and lemon blossoms on a round, supple frame. Drink now. 2,800 cases made. (MaryAnn Worobiec)
RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st Mar 2023
The nose of the 2021 Chardonnay is marked by scents of pencil shavings and lemon squares, plus hints of white peaches and flower shop greens. Aged 10 months in 40% new French oak, it’s medium-bodied and tight on the palate, with a crispness and focus not always apparent in Napa Chards. It seems a bit different in style than the 2019 but equally good. (Joe Czerwinski)
