In eastern France lies the region of Burgundy, one of the legendary wine regions of the world. Burgundy, home to some of the most expensive wines in the world, is famous for its Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. With very few exceptions, red Burgundy is made from 100% Pinot Noir. And the reigning white of Burgundy, Chardonnay, can vary incredibly in style depending on where it was produced within the region.

Country / France

View more wines from France

The French did not invent winemaking. They simply perfected it. For centuries, France has been producing wines that inspire poetry, awe, and wonder; wines that blur the lines between nature, craftsmanship, cuisine and art. These are the wines that inspired cultures around the globe to follow in France’s footsteps, planting Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, Grenache, Merlot, Semillon and more.

Yet as often as they are emulated, the magic of their terroirs can never be duplicated. You may taste Cabernet from around the world, but perhaps none as elegant and regal as Bordeaux. You may try Pinot Noir or Chardonnay from various climates, but none with the earth-bound soul and ethereal reach of Burgundy.

Crisp and clean, offering lemon verbena, Granny Smith apple and stone flavors allied to a tightly knit structure. Linear and trim on the finish, with a saline accent. Drink now through 2026. 900 cases made, 150 cases imported. (Bruce Sanderson)

VN91+91–93 pts. - Vinous - Oct 2021
The 2020 Chablis En Vaudécorse demands more coaxing on the nose compared to Picq’s other cuvées, hints of pressed white flowers only reluctantly emerging with aeration. The palate is well balanced with veins of blood orange and citrus fruit. A pleasantly tangy, almost iodine-y bitterness lends edge toward the finish, which leaves a saline aftertaste. Superb.
RP89+89–91 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 5th Aug 2021
Aromas of crisp yellow orchard fruit, buttery pastry, almonds and white flowers introduce the 2020 Chablis En Vaudécorse, a medium to full-bodied, satiny and lively wine that’s fleshy and penetrating. It’s ample and generous, and it will show well young.

The estate, owned by the Duboeuf family but run separately, has produced this full, dense and jammy wine. Ripe tannins and berry flavors show an attractive balance. Drink the wine from 2023.
JS8888 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Wednesday, May 5, 2021
This has been well made, but for us the super-ripe black cherries and heady alcohol (14.5%) are a bit much. The generous palate is reasonably well balanced and you could certainly drink it with a steak or roast vegetables. Drink now.
