Critical Acclaim

WS90 Wine & Spirits August 1, 2010

"A light, refreshing Asti, this wine’s scents of candied orange peel and pink grapefruit flavors end cleanly. Serve it with fresh fruit and cheese or at brunch with a goat cheese salad." (90 pts.)

WE90 Wine Enthusiast 6/1/1997

"Moderately light bodied. Balanced acidity. Green apples, pears, honeysuckle, tropical flavors. Fragrant entry of fresh, tart fruit flavors. Fine acidity balance with a pleasant mouthfeel. Very crisp finish, refreshing and clean with a moderate impression of sweetness." (90 pts.)

WE90 Wine Enthusiast 6/1/1996

"Medium-bodied. Moderate acidity. Medium fruit. Mild sweetness. Hay, minerals, pears. Vibrant acidity complements fruit superbly in this elegant, flavorful Asti. Features enticing aromas and complex flavors that last into a crisp, elongated finish." (90 pts.)

WE94 Wine Enthusiast 5/1/1994

"This is the second year in a row this wine has won a World Championship. It is a bubbly rife with the heady, highly grapey pleasures of the Muscat grape and a profusion of invigorating bubbles. A trifle sweet with nice crisp acidity giving it an elegant mouthfeel. Perfect for an aperitif, it tastes like biting into a ripe peach. Low in alcohol and a great value to boot." (94 pts.)

WS85 Wine & Spirits December 1, 1993

"Ripe apricot and raisin aromas lend complexity to this drier style of Asti — still sweet, but the nutty bitterness in the finish gives a dry impression. A complete Italian dessert." (85 pts.)

Located in northwestern Italy near the Italian Alps, Piedmont is home to two of Italy's more famous wines: Barolos and Barbarescos. Each of these wines are made with the Nebbiolo grape, which is the premier red grape in the region. Other red grapes of note used in Piedmont include Barbera and Dolcetto. Among white wine grapes used in Piedmont are Moscatos, which are increasing in popularity here in the US. Piedmont's capital city Torino is also home to large productions of Vermouth, also made from Moscato.

Italy is famous for its powerful, sleek, and elegant reds wines from ancient growing areas with legendary names such as Chianti, Barolo, Barbaresco, Montepulciano. Italian white wines are also gaining popularity: Orvieto, Pinot Grigio, and Sauvignon are excellent examples of Italian white wines.

Wines of Italy are complex and flavorful, much like the culture that is their source and the cuisine that is their match.
