District / Finger Lakes

View more wines from Finger Lakes

Officially established in 1982, the Finger Lakes region has a storied history of wine production in New York State and is recognized the world over. The deep glacially formed lakes offer sublime growing conditions thanks to the sloping hillsides and moderating effect the lakes have on the temperature of the surrounding area.

The main growing regions are centered around Cayuga Lake and Seneca Lake (which each have their own AVAs) but quality wine is being made throughout the region. Riesling is the belle of the ball in the Finger Lakes (oftentimes being compared to the Rieslings of Germany) but success has been had with Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, and others.

Seeing as our store is located in the midst of New York's wine regions, we have a special affinity for New York wines. And so should you! New York is now producing some of the world's best Rieslings and Pinot Noirs, and there are lots of other terrific wines made from grapes like Catawba, Niagara, Cabernet Franc and others being produced here, as well. Every year, the quality, reputation, and demand for New York wines continue to soar. What are you waiting for? Uncork New York!

Country / United States

View more wines from United States

The United States now ranks fourth in the world in wine production behind, France, Italy, and Spain. While about 90% of that wine is produced in California, other states like Oregon, New York, and Washington are establishing themselves as prime spots for wine production, as well. Just about any variety of wine can be found in production somewhere in the United States.

WE9292 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 10/1/2022
This compact, tense dry Riesling delivers intense aromas of wet slate and sliced fennel bulb shot through with vibrant lime juice. Tense flavors of white cherry, crushed stone and lime are propelled along by driven acidity, showing great cohesion and depth between it all. The dry, lime-driven finish leaves you begging for the next sip. (Alexander Peartree)

Bracing, with slate, thistle, pippin apple and lime pith notes that extend through the bone dry finish. Drink now through 2025. 214 cases made. (James Molesworth)
RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 20th Jan 2022
The 2020 Dry Riesling comes in with 2.9 grams of residual sugar, 9.2 grams of total acidity and 11.4% alcohol. A powerhouse, this seems bigger in fruit than the numbers suggest, but there’s no doubt where this puts its emphasis—on the pure power. There’s plenty of acidity here. Intense and gripping on the finish, this is impressive on many fronts. It’s also so backward that it seems hard to approach now. You do need to be a little patient here. There were 197 cases produced, to be released in February, a bit ahead of some of the other submissions, but that will likely not be enough time. You’ll do better if you come back to this in 2023 (or later). It should age well, so there’s no rush, but it really needs to show better balance. It has the power of its higher-priced siblings but not their character or expression of fruit, at least not now. I’m optimistic, though. (Mark Squires)

RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 1st Dec 2021
The 2019 Vignoles Turkey Run Vineyard comes in with 5.9 grams per liter of residual sugar, 10.8 of total acidity and 12.7% alcohol. There is teeth-rattling acidity on the finish here, but this does have enough sugar and concentration to prevent it from being impossibly shrill. You won’t think of the sugar, as the acidity makes this perceptibly dry, but it does perform the useful function of creating balance. I rather loved the balance here, not to mention the silky texture. In warm weather, this will be a wonderfully refreshing drink that wakes everyone up. It seems rather elegant as well as very fresh. It is well done, and it is poised to age well. I’m always hesitant about long drinking windows for wines like this, but it has a good chance to make me look good rather than bad. I have certainly seen some proof in years gone by that they can age. Still, this is a bit of a risky projection, but so be it. There were 150 cases produced. (Mark Squires)

Crackles with white peach, jicama, mustard flower and acacia notes. Very distinctive. The nice dry, racy finish extends nicely, too. Drink now through 2025. 107 cases made. (James Molesworth)
