Item#: 68617
This wine’s caramel flavors become more saline as the wine opens in the glass. It’s soft in texture and voluptuous in aromas, a seductive blend of sweet, concentrated liqueur-like fruit and salt.
The dry, medium amber-hued non-vintage Dry Amontillado Los Arcos offers good body as well as a heady personality.
Walnut, halva, singed almond and green tea notes give this an intriguing profile, flirting with an off-dry character. Stays dry through the bitter orange-edged finish. Drink now. 4,500 cases made.

Readers looking for something weighty, sweet, and provocative should check out the non-vintage East India Solera. A blend of soleras averaging 15 to 50 years of age, it boasts a dark amber color as well as a huge nose of melted toffee, caramel, figs, and prunes. This over-the-top yet surprisingly vibrant (because of good acidity) effort is best drunk as dessert at the end of a meal.
This Oloroso’s dose of pedro ximénez accounts for its aromas of raisins, dried fruits and figs, as well as its creamy, spicy texture. Complex notes of cinnamon, clove, iodine and mineral details build into the finish. Serve it with cinnamon flan.
This is a selection from botas of Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez raised separately and then blended to age for three years in solera. The result puts the sweetness of the PX in front, with flavors of plum jam and tobacco. The salinity of the Oloroso brings freshness and fine minerality that play softly in the background.

Pure, distinctly dried-fruit (figs and dates) nose. A luscious, decidedly sweet, but balance dessert wine with coffee, chocolate, date and apricot flavors.
Rich and concentrated with coffee and caramel flavors in a balanced presentation. Picks up a grilled nut accent on the finish. Solid and complex, but not cloying. Drink now.
This traditional wine from Lustau is made in the Cream style. It’s dark and pretty, with PX-ish prune and caramel aromas. It’s not as thick as Pedro Ximénez, and thus isn’t syrupy. But it’s certainly rich and full of cookie, molasses, maple and brown sugar flavors. For anyone who likes a sweet Sherry that’s balanced, this is a good place to go.

The impressive line-up is opened with the pale-colored NV Manzanilla Deliciosa, which is produced with Palomino grapes from the Miraflores vineyard and aged for five years under yeast. It is a finer version of La Guita, easy to drink, with a sweet note of apples in the nose, a polished and gentle palate, ending with a saline touch. Drink 2013–2014.
Subtly perfumed with salted nuts and spices, this Manzanilla slips through the mouth with delicate acidity and a slightly oily texture. Delicious with fried sardines.
Lovely salt, Brazil nut and floral notes combine with a bitter citrus oil accent on the taut finish. Drink now. 800 cases made.

With piercing aromas of raisin pudding, molasses and spice, this rolls out the welcome mat and more. Luscious is probably as tame as you can put it; this is a ribald sweet wine with acidic backbone and hugely intense flavors of baked brown sugar, cinnamon cake and molasses. Powerful but still racy due to bracing acidity. About as good as it gets with P.X.
The exuberant and saturated sweet flavors of sun-ripened grapes spread throughout the entire palate, sustained by firm acidity. That acidity imposes its mineral tones, without overshadowing the seductive caramel sensation that lasts. Serve it chilled as a digestif.
As smooth as a nutty caramel candy seasoned with spice, this PX moves slowly through the mouth, leaving a soft, warm memory in its wake. Extremely ripe, this has enough acidity to keep it from being tiring.
Caramel brown in color, with the viscosity of motor oil, this is soft yet firm, carrying flavors of walnut, dried fig and burnt sugar. Sweet but not oppressively so, with a slightly bitter finish. Drink now. 500 cases imported.

Generous in its flavors of figs and nuts, this is a medium-weight moscatel, fresh enough to accompany baked apples for dessert, and sweet enough to drink on its own, after dinner.
Dark brown in color, with sweet aromas of candied fruit, brown sugar and mocha. The palate is lively and warm, with zesty yet baked flavors of toffee, caramel and apricot. A little fiery and driving on the finish, with a lasting spice note. Excellent for an aged, dark-style Moscatel.
This avoids the slightly cloying edge found in most Moscatel Sherries, with bright green tea and ginger notes adding lift and freshness to the rum-soaked raisin, tiramisu and fig flavors. Drink now.

A classic Fino, this is precise in its structure and completely dry. With its mineral notes of iodine and salt, light hints of nuts and green olives and refreshing acidity, it’s almost addictive, especially if you have prawns sautéed in garlic and herbs on hand.
The brilliant quality of Emilio Lustau’s sherries is indisputable. Sherry remains the world’s most underappreciated and undervalued beverage, as the price for this beauty attests. The crisp, light-bodied, pungent, potent Light Fino Jarana is redolent of the smells and flavors of roasted nuts. It would be amazing with Japanese sushi or rich soups.
Shows a light rancio note, with a cheesy hint giving way to rather salty lemon pulp, jicama and chalk accents. Whiffs of straw and nectarine lend some depth and flesh to the finish. Drink now.
More yellow than Lustau’s manzanilla, Jarana is a lovely, proper fino with a nose of iodine, lemon blossom and popcorn. The palate is staunch and doesn’t back down; the high-toned nut and citrus flavors seem classic and elevated. And the finish is intense and frames everything in walnut oil and toast.

The non-vintage Rare Cream, Superior is a moderately sweet, pleasant Sherry. Do your old grandmother a favor and give her this sophisticated drink instead of Harvey’s Bristol Cream.
With scents of baked apples and figs, this Cream stands out for its smooth softness, a texture that will meld with pastel de nueces.
Elegant and complex. Beautifully balanced, this sweet Sherry bears a firm structure, lending a dryness on the finish and carrying the nut, smoke and caramel accents to a long finish. Drink now.
Offers a friendly, open-knit feel, without the overt headiness of most cream version. Sports licorice root, fruitcake and brown bread notes, laced with a hint of toasted raisin. Drink now. 400 cases made.

Attractive caramel, apricot and peach aromas drive straight to a pure, creamy palate of cinnamon apple, mocha, coffee and chocolate. It’s quite smooth and balanced, and very long on the finish. Avoids all the pitfalls of sweet Sherry by maintaining its balance and mouthfeel.
This is rich, but its lively acidity gives the caramel and nut flavors grace and precision. Serve it chilled, with — or in place of — a nut tart.
The intensity of this Sherry comes from the alcohol. Roasted walnut, caramel and molasses are the flavors. Moderate length. Drink now.
