Alvear's Solera Cream NV / 500 ml.

Item#: 82772

RP9595 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Jun 2005
The extraordinary non-vintage Solera Cream represents an Oloroso sweetened by the addition of ripe Pedro Ximenez. A medium amber color is followed by a nutty, liqueur-like liquid with tremendous unctuosity and freshness in addition to a long, moderately sweet finish. It is a great after-dinner drink to enjoy by itself.
RP9292 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 29th Nov 2015
Much sweeter is the NV Solera Cream, which offers a dense amber color, creamy caramelized fruits, honeysuckle and roasted nuts, is fleshy and succulent with considerable residual sugar hitting the palate. This cuvée was created for the British and it used to be a hugely successful product there. Drink now through 2021.
RP9191 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 28th Jun 2019
The NV Solera Cream is an old Oloroso mixed with sweet Pedro Ximénez and aged for a further three years. It’s bottled at 18% alcohol and has 119 grams of residual sugar, which means it’s quite sweet. It’s a serious and old sweet wine, with notes of caramelized nuts and nougat. It has a round palate with sweetness, but it doesn’t feel cloying. 2,600 half bottles were filled in March 2018, the first saca of 2018. The price is for a half bottle.
SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Dec 15, 2003
Sweet, with bitter chocolate, raisin and caramel flavors on a medium-bodied frame, this has cut and a tangy finish, keeping it in check and long on the aftertaste. Well done. Pedro Ximenez. Drink now.
WE9090 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 5/1/2012
Toasty and sweet on the nose, however it’s not very complex. Feels juicy and refined, with raisin, fig and date flavors. Long on the finish and chocolaty tasting, with raisin and a lightness of being. Sweet within the style, but not unctuous or candied.
SP8989 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2014
Singed juniper and bitter espresso notes lead off, followed by a mix of date, ginger, green tea and toasted walnut accents. Stays bracing through the finish but flirts with sweetness. Drink now. 500 cases made.

View more wines from Spain

The picturesque countryside of Spain is littered with vineyards large and small, and offers up some of the best value available on the wine market today. You can consistently fine critically-acclaimed Spanish wines selling for less than their counterparts from other wine-producing countries. The Rioja and Ribera del Duero regions are most famous, and there's nowhere else in the world where you'll find as many world-class Tempranillos.

RP9898 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 29th Nov 2015
The NV Pedro Ximenez Solera 1927 is non-vintage, but does have some 1927 material in it. This is totally dark brown/amber with notes of figs, toffee, caramel syrup, molasses and coffee. It is dense, super sweet, intense, rich and an amazingly, unctuously textured, thick beverage to consume slowly and introspectively after a meal. Drink now through 2050, or even longer.
SP9292 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2008
Menthol and prune aromas and flavors highlight this intense, sweet dessert wine. It exhibits plenty of brightness and complexity, ending with butterscotch and bitter chocolate notes. Nicely put together. Drink now. 300 cases imported.
SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Dec 31, 2016
This rich sweetie hangs languidly, with date, rum raisin, almond cream and Turkish coffee notes lolling through, backed by toffee and toasted peanut details. Dessert on its own. Drink now. 500 cases made.

Alvear produces a non-vintage Cream, which is essentially a sweeter style of Oloroso. Its dark amber color is accompanied by sweet, nutty, milkshake-like aromas, tremendous precision as well as intensity, and a marvelous finish.
