    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#93953

    RP9595 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 5th Nov 2020
A blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is deep garnet-purple in color, striding confidently out of the glass with classic notes of baked plums, blackberry pie and blackcurrant cordial plus hints of cedar, unsmoked cigars and tilled soil. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and featuring impressively pure black fruit flavors, the palate delivers a firm texture of ripe, fine-grained tannins, finishing long, layered and with lovely freshness. 1,400 cases were made.
    JS9494 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Monday, August 24, 2020
Lots of walnut, chocolate, currant and thyme character to this with some wet earth and forest fruit. Vibrant nose. It’s full-bodied with lots of fruit and ripe tannins. Flavorful finish. Solid red. Drink or hold.
    JD92+92–94+ pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - January 31, 2020
Lastly, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve comes is a selection put together by Biagi and comes from a mix of the single vineyards. A blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot, all still aging in new barrels, it offers a plush, forward, full-bodied style that carries classic notes of jammy blackberry and cassis intermixed with lots of spice, chocolate, and a touch of graphite. This pleasure bent beauty will drink nicely for 10–15 years.
    VN91+91–94 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2020
The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is powerful and dense with a real sense of classicism that runs through it. Gravel, licorice, black cherry, cloves and leather all race out of the glass in a positively stunning, inviting Cabernet that hits so many high notes. There is something truly magical about the 2018. Given its quality and price, the Reserve is unquestionably the wine in this range readers should focus on first.

  3. Tenuta Tignanello Marchese Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva

    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#91955

    RP9393 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 19th Sep 2019
The 2016 Chianti Classico Riserva Marchese Antinori is Sangiovese enhanced with touches of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Renzo Cotarella and the extended technical team at Marchesi Antinori are working hard on perfecting their tannin management, and the beautiful results are evident across this line of new releases from the classic 2016 vintage. The finish is silky and long, and the tannins are never dry. The fruit is evident and bright with wild cherry, rose and Italian garden herb.
    VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Aug 2019
The 2016 Chianti Classico Riserva Marchese Antinori emerges entirely from Antinori’s Tignanello estate. Plump and forward, with juicy dark fruit, the Marchese Antinori is done in a decidedly modern, lush style. Mocha, sweet spice, licorice and black plum meld into the creamy finish. The 2016 is attractive, but I can’t help thinking a lighter hand in the cellar might yield a wine with greater finesse and expression of place.
    SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Jul 31, 2019
A hefty dose of spicy oak wraps around the black cherry, plum and leather flavors. Muscular and broad, with a lingering aftertaste of fruit, tar and spice. Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon. Best from 2021 through 2028. 5,000 cases imported.

  5. Groth Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon

    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#94006

    WS9494 pts. - Wine & Spirits - December 1, 2019
Cameron Parry found his cabernet vines ripened their fruit in 2016 at Brix levels that were lower than usual, sustaining acidity in the grapes. They produced a young and luscious Oakville cabernet, the wine integrating oak and fruit tannins in a way that supercharges its flavors. Rather than weighing the wine down, the structure empowers it, presenting plummy blue fruit, scents of cassis and fruity-umami notes of mushrooms that last, gracious, gentle and refined.
    WE9393 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 9/1/2020
Blended with 9% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot, this Cabernet opens with earthy aromas of tar, sage and cedar. It expands on the palate to show an elegant structure of finessed, supple tannins alongside layers of clove and cinnamon atop ripe red and black berries.
    SP9292 pts. - Wine Spectator - Aug 31, 2019
A hint of singed savory leads off, turning quickly to a core of raspberry and mulberry fruit, lined with alluring tea, sanguine and iron notes. Offers fine-grained grip and should unwind nicely in the cellar. Drink now through 2030. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 27,000 cases made.
    JS9292 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Monday, November 19, 2018
A very plush and ripe, forthright style with abundant ripe plum and berry aromas, leading to a berry-flavored palate, laced with dark chocolate and vanilla. Drink or hold.

  6. Sassicaia

    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#95422

    RP97+97+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 14th Jan 2021
This is a classic vintage of an Italian icon now celebrating its 50th vintage. The Tenuta San Guido 2018 Bolgheri Sassicaia lays out a familiar blueprint that borrows from the proven track record of this landmark estate that extends into the hills just beyond the Tyrrhenian shores of Tuscany. This vintage is crystalline and pure in its delivery, and if you are familiar with previous editions, it is impossible to mistake this wine for anything but Sassicaia. The growing season started off cool and wet but turned to warm and dry conditions comfortably before the harvest. Cabernet Sauvignon with Cabernet Franc in a supporting role deliver a graceful mid-weight texture that holds back style-wise in terms of phenolic density. The wine’s careful balance is achieved thanks to the nuanced character of the fruit, the present acidity, the well-managed structure and the contained alcohol. The palate is lifted and bright, the finish is polished and long, and the wine skips over any heaviness on the mid-palate. The bouquet is especially intriguing with a very lively plummy fruit element that is enhanced by baker’s chocolate, pepper spice, iron ore, caramel and pie crust. There is also a green character that adds positively to the bouquet with aniseed, tea leaf, soya, menthol rub and black olive. The fruit maturity is spot-on with no elements that feel over or underripe. Overall, the 2018 Sassicaia weighs in with a svelte frame and long persistence. Moreover, it is distinguished by the archetypal elegance and pedigree of the classic vintages of the past. This new release gives you much pleasure to await.
    VN9797 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2021
The 2018 Sassicaia is fabulous. Bright and beautifully poised, the 2018 opens with brilliant aromatics that make a strong first impression. Delicate and light on its feet, the 2018 is a regal wine that is going to need a number of years to come into its own. Sassicaia is the most finessed of Bolgheri’s top wines. That is very much the case in 2018 as well. I loved it.

    SP9595 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2021
This asserts itself through flattery right from the start, with a gush of warmed cassis, açaí berry reduction and plum preserves laced liberally with mocha-accented toast and carried by very plush structure. This is weighty and brimming with fruit, while the toast takes a lengthy encore on the finish. A hedonist’s dream. Drink now through 2034. 22,075 cases made.

  8. Vik Milla Cala

    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#93135

    JS9292 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Friday, April 5, 2019
This is a fresh and pretty red with blackberry and fresh-herb character. Medium to full body, very polished and round tannins and a long, delicious finish. The second wine of Vik. Drink or hold.
    RP9191 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 28th Feb 2020
The entry-level wine here is the 2016 Milla Cala, a blend of 67% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Carmenere, 11% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 1% Syrah, percentages that change with the vintage. 2016 was a cold and rainy year that resulted in a wine with 13.8% alcohol. The grapes were harvested at night and had a five-day cold soak before fermenting with indigenous yeasts. Malolactic was in barrel, and the élevage lasted 20 months. I was surprised because the initial sensation was of a Syrah, and the wine only has a very small percentage of the grape; the smoky and meaty notes must come from other grapes, not from the Syrah. As the wine sat in the glass and got warmer, it turned spicier. It’s juicy and has the oak nicely folded into the fruit. To me, it has the lightness and the expression of Cachapoal, in a style that’s easy to drink and quite versatile for the table. 96,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in August 2018.
    WE9191 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 5/1/2020
Berry, raisin and vanilla aromas open this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Carmenère, Syrah and Cabernet Franc. On the palate, this is thick and dense, with grabby tannins. Herbal berry and cassis flavors finish with notes of green herbs common to many 2016 Chilean reds. Drink through 2025.

  11. Ruinart Blanc de Blancs Brut Champagne

    NV / 750 ml. | Item#40614

    SP9393 pts. - Wine Spectator - Nov 15, 2018
Fresh, with focus and intensity, this nonetheless elegant Champagne is finely knit and minerally, offering flavors of crunchy white peach, toast and lemon curd, accented by aromatic hints of cherry blossom, fresh tarragon and spice that linger on the creamy finish. Drink now through 2022.
    WE9292 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 6/1/2017
Crisp with a delicious line of acidity and ripe with apple and lemon flavors, this wine balances freshness with hints of maturity from aging in Ruinart’s subterranean cellars. It’s both taut with the tension of cool-climate Chardonnay and showing signs of toastiness.
    WS9292 pts. - Wine & Spirits - December 1, 2013
If chardonnay could be a red wine, it might have the red fruit flavors of this blanc de blancs. Perhaps it’s the floral aspects that turn its chamomile and yellow flower notes toward violets, or the deep earth tones adding color to the flavor. The fruit is persistent, sunny in the middle, then shaded by an almost tannic character to the lees that places the wine with food, particularly roast veal.
    RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Oct 2011
This is a fabulous version of Ruinart’s NV Brut Blanc de Blancs. The wine seems fresher, more vibrant and less obviously sweet than in the past, all of which makes this a far more interesting wine. The trademark profile of lemon, jasmine and green apples is very much in the forefront while the wine’s textural finesse and length are both first-class. This release of the NV Brut makes a great introduction to the wines of Ruinart, Champagne’s oldest house. This is Lot LAGJSAF. Anticipated maturity: 2011–2014.

  12. Domaine Isabel Ferrando Colombis Châteauneuf-du-Pape

    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#94185

    JD96+96–99 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - August 16, 2019
What could end up being the wine of the vintage, the 2018 Châteauneuf Du Pape Colombis is basically all Grenache brought up in demi-muids. It exhibits a deep purple color as well as a blockbuster bouquet of blackcurrants, smoked herbs, ground pepper, and cured meats. Deep, full-bodied, powerful, and tasting like the essence of Provence, it has sweet tannins, the rounded, sexy style of the vintage, and a finish that won’t quit. Love Grenache? Buy this wine.
    RP95+95–97 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Aug 2019
Looking much suaver and more elegant than the recently bottled 2017, the 2018 Chateauneuf du Pape Colombis features aromas and flavors of nearly crystalline-pure red berries, accented by hints of star anise, ground allspice and orange zest. Full-bodied and silky-textured, it’s a beauty in the making, with a fine bone structure supporting succulent, well-toned flesh.
    SP9595 pts. - Wine Spectator - Oct 21, 2020
This is a beauty, with a seductive display of Turkish coffee, singed alder, steeped plum and warmed anise aromas and flavors that move in unison, backed by a subtle garrigue note through the finish. A late echo of warm earth adds a finishing touch. Best from 2021 through 2037.

  13. San Leonardo

    2015 / 750 ml. | Item#94506

    RP97+97+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 18th Feb 2021
The 2015 San Leonardo pours forth with a beautiful velvety appearance and sultry dark garnet color. This wine shows a lot of life and dark fruit purity with black plum, blackberry, cassis and tarry prune. There is a delightful note of black pepper that is specific to this warm and sunny vintage. The fruit shows softer and richer concentration compared to past vintages and more pulpy density that gives this edition a bigger profile in terms of mouthfeel. Production is 75,000 bottles. San Leonardo is a wine made for long aging, but the nice thing about this vintage is that the bouquet remains quite accessible at this young age. Nevertheless, I’d still suggest keeping this bottle in your cellar so that it can calmly finish its evolution.
    VN9595 pts. - Vinous - Jul 2020
The 2015 San Leonardo is a classic in the making. The bouquet is wonderfully perfumed with peppery florals, mixing tart cherry and blueberry with white smoke, hints of graphite and shaved cedar. Silky textures race across a core of juicy acids and minerals, making for a ripe yet cool-toned and pleasurably tactile expression. Youthful tannins slowly make themselves known toward the close. Long, structured and spicy, the 2015 finishes with a crescendo of tart blue and black fruits, tapering off to notes of subtly sweet spice. As good as this is today, it will only get better over time. That said, it doesn’t appear that this is going to shut down anytime in the immediate future, so it’s certainly worth checking on a bottle or two before forgetting the rest in your cellar.

  14. Château Clarke Listrac-Médoc

    2015 / 750 ml. | Item#90337

    WE9393 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 2/1/2019
This estate has belonged to the Edmond de Rothschild family since 1973. From one of the top performing properties in Listrac, this wine is well proportioned, rich and dense. It has weight but its main thrust is elegance, with stylish black-currant fruit, acidity and a dry core from the wood aging. The wine will age well and should not be drunk before 2023.
    JS9191 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Friday, February 2, 2018
Sweet and generous but also with quite a slug of dry tannins, and that really gives the wine some character and drive at the finish. You can drink it now, but better in 2020.
    RP90+90–92 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 27th Apr 2016
The 2015 Clarke has an attractive blackberry and briary scented nose with just a hint of dark chocolate emanating from the new oak. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannin, the acidity nicely judged with fine tension on the cedar and tobacco-tinged finish. I appreciate the freshness and refinement demonstrated by this Château Clarke, a classic Listrac that should give 10–12 years of pleasure.
    SP8888 pts. - Wine Spectator - Dec 31, 2017
On the fleshy side for a Listrac, with good plum and blackberry coulis flavors inlaid with singed vanilla and alder notes. Light tobacco hints echo with the fruit through the finish. Drink now through 2020. 16,600 cases made.

The estate bottling brings together the various clones planted at this iconic vineyard. Offering a complex weave of plum, marionberry and blackberry, it matches its delicious fruit with 40% new French oak, adding a seam of coffee and dark chocolate. The tannins are polished to a fine gloss.
    JS9393 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Tuesday, July 2, 2019
Super dark fruit with plums and ripe cherries in abundance, as well as earthy, dark, toasted spices that lead to a palate with a very plush, vibrant and assertively fruited core. Smooth build here and a strong finish. Drink or hold.
    VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Aug 2020
Saturated garnet. Pungent, spice-accented red berry and cherry aromas, along with suggestions of candied rose, vanilla and smoky minerals. Seamless and broad on the palate, showing good heft and spicy cut to concentrated raspberry, cherry compote, mocha and floral pastille flavors.
