  1. Amici Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#93953

    RP9595 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 5th Nov 2020
A blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is deep garnet-purple in color, striding confidently out of the glass with classic notes of baked plums, blackberry pie and blackcurrant cordial plus hints of cedar, unsmoked cigars and tilled soil. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and featuring impressively pure black fruit flavors, the palate delivers a firm texture of ripe, fine-grained tannins, finishing long, layered and with lovely freshness. 1,400 cases were made.
    JS9494 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Monday, August 24, 2020
Lots of walnut, chocolate, currant and thyme character to this with some wet earth and forest fruit. Vibrant nose. It’s full-bodied with lots of fruit and ripe tannins. Flavorful finish. Solid red. Drink or hold.
    JD92+92–94+ pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - January 31, 2020
Lastly, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve comes is a selection put together by Biagi and comes from a mix of the single vineyards. A blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot, all still aging in new barrels, it offers a plush, forward, full-bodied style that carries classic notes of jammy blackberry and cassis intermixed with lots of spice, chocolate, and a touch of graphite. This pleasure bent beauty will drink nicely for 10–15 years.
    VN91+91–94 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2020
The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is powerful and dense with a real sense of classicism that runs through it. Gravel, licorice, black cherry, cloves and leather all race out of the glass in a positively stunning, inviting Cabernet that hits so many high notes. There is something truly magical about the 2018. Given its quality and price, the Reserve is unquestionably the wine in this range readers should focus on first.

  2. Tenuta Tignanello Marchese Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva

    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#91955

    RP9393 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 19th Sep 2019
The 2016 Chianti Classico Riserva Marchese Antinori is Sangiovese enhanced with touches of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Renzo Cotarella and the extended technical team at Marchesi Antinori are working hard on perfecting their tannin management, and the beautiful results are evident across this line of new releases from the classic 2016 vintage. The finish is silky and long, and the tannins are never dry. The fruit is evident and bright with wild cherry, rose and Italian garden herb.
    VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Aug 2019
The 2016 Chianti Classico Riserva Marchese Antinori emerges entirely from Antinori’s Tignanello estate. Plump and forward, with juicy dark fruit, the Marchese Antinori is done in a decidedly modern, lush style. Mocha, sweet spice, licorice and black plum meld into the creamy finish. The 2016 is attractive, but I can’t help thinking a lighter hand in the cellar might yield a wine with greater finesse and expression of place.
    SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Jul 31, 2019
A hefty dose of spicy oak wraps around the black cherry, plum and leather flavors. Muscular and broad, with a lingering aftertaste of fruit, tar and spice. Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon. Best from 2021 through 2028. 5,000 cases imported.

    WE9595 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 5/1/2020
Woody, herbal and elegantly structured, this wine is high-toned and freshly layered in bold red fruit. Given time in the barrel and the bottle, it shows its graceful edges and nuanced elegance with ease, finishing in dusty crushed rock. It vastly overdelivers on its price point.

  4. Château Carbonnieux Blanc

    Grand Cru Classé de Graves
    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#95339

    WE9595 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 4/1/2021
Always a success, the releases of whites from this estate continue with this tight, textured, wood-aged and ripe wine. It is still young, balancing between citrus and crisp acidity, with a texture that will open as the wine ages. Drink from 2023.
    SP9494 pts. - Wine Spectator - Mar 31, 2021
A brisk lemon pith note flanks a core of lemon curd, honeysuckle, tarragon, oyster shell and salted butter notes, with a hint of warm, herbed focaccia on the finish adding range and contrast. Delicious. Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon. Drink now through 2026. 10,835 cases made.
    JD9292 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 3/11/2021
The top white, the 2018 Château Carbonnieux Blanc is largely Sauvignon with around one-quarter Sémillon. Lots of ripe lemon, leafy herb, rocky mineral, and a hint of white grapefruit emerge from the glass, and it’s medium-bodied, with bright yet integrated acidity and a great finish. It’s an outstanding, complex, interesting white that should have 4–6 years of prime drinking, probably longer.
    JS9292 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Wednesday, March 3, 2021
Whole lemon, green mango and bell pepper on the nose with a hint of chalk. It’s medium-bodied with bright acidity and a creamy, honeyed texture. Drink or hold.
    RP91+91–93 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 23rd Apr 2019
The Carbonnieux 2018 Blanc features intense lime juice, yuzu and green mango scents with touches of lemon curd and white pepper. Medium-bodied, very tightly wound and zesty in the mouth, it has a racy backbone and a mineral-laced finish.

    SP9292 pts. - Wine Spectator - Aug 31, 2021
Rich, ripe and powerful, with notes of chocolate tart and Asian spice to the dark plum and cherry flavors. Forest floor and plenty of toasty accents linger on the finish, with blackberry jam hints. Drink now through 2025. 8,375 cases made.
    WE9090 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 9/1/2021
This is a powerfully extracted and über-ripe bottling, loaded with black cherry, clove and nutmeg. The baked fruit flavors are bombastic on the sip, full of caramel, cherry cordial and oak, clicking the hedonistic buttons while ditching varietal character.

    VN9191 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2021
The 2015 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico holds nothing back, with a sweetly spiced and confectionary expression showing cherry cordials, cinnamon sugar and plum sauce. The textures are velvety, flooding the palate with ultra-ripe red fruits; yet for all of its decadence, balance is maintained through juicy acids. A bit of heat pokes through in the finale, as this tapers off with notes of chocolate under an air of lavender and violets.

    2017 / 750 ml. | Item#92533

    JS9292 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Friday, February 14, 2020
A nicely crafted 2017 red with berries, plums and hints of dark chocolate on the nose and palate. Medium body, creamy tannins and a savory finish. Pretty fruit at the end. Drink or hold.
    WE9090 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 11/1/2020
With dark fruit at its core, this wine offers thick, concentrated power alongside accents of sage and clove. The fruit is black cherry and plum, rich enough to be jammy, with plenty of support from toasted oak and baking spice nuances.
    WS9090 pts. - Wine & Spirits - October 1, 2020
Duckhorn takes rich and supple Napa Valley merlot in an elegant direction. While there may be a lot of juicy blackberry fruit, along with a toasty, smoky presence of oak, both of those elements serve to elevate the texture. Rather than complexity, this wine is all about supple pleasures, with nothing out of place.

  8. Casanova di Neri Brunello di Montalcino

    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#94445

    SP9595 pts. - Wine Spectator - Jun 30, 2021
Shows fine depth, with cherry, black currant and wild herb flavors, accented by iron, earth, leather and tobacco notes. Muscular, despite a slim frame, with a long, savory aftertaste. Best from 2024 through 2045. 8,808 cases made, 2,500 cases imported.
    RP9494 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Nov 2020
The Casanova di Neri 2016 Brunello di Montalcino (or the so-called “white label” Brunello) takes a minute or two to open, and like all these new releases from the Neri family, you’re best off opening your bottle five hours before serving them. This classic expression displays raspberry, tar, hazelnut, dried fig, asphalt and some crushed chalk. The wine is streamlined and compact in terms of mouthfeel, giving us an accessible Brunello from a benchmark Montalcino estate.
    VN9494 pts. - Vinous - Nov 2020
Casanova di Neri’s 2016 Brunello di Montalcino is a wine of pleasurable contrasts but also massive structure. Ripe dark fruits and autumnal spices offset savory herbs and hints of animal musk. It enters the mouth silky, cooling and lifted, with a noticeable inner sweetness to its polished cherry/berry flavors, but it then sways more toward inner earth, minerals and grippy tannins. The 2016 urges you to take another sip, as there’s so much upfront appeal; yet each time you do, it reminds you once again that it’s a painfully young Brunello in need of cellaring. That said, the potential here is incredibly high.

  9. O’Shaughnessy Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

    2017 / 750 ml. | Item#92381

    VN9191 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2020
O’Shaughnessy’s 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is a terrific choice for drinking now and over the next few years. Bright aromatics, plush fruit and silky tannins give the 2017 much of its immediate appeal. Sweet red cherry, plum, mint, spice, blood orange, and rose petal all meld together in this very pretty and engaging Cabernet; there is certainly plenty to like here. As always, the Napa Valley Cabernet is a blend of fruit from O’Shaughnessy’s Oakville, Howell Mountain and Mt. Veeder ranches.
    RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 27th Nov 2019
Composed of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot and 5% Malbec, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley comes from vineyards on Mount Veeder (56%), Howell Mountain (29%) and Oakville (15%). It was aged in French oak for 22 months, 70% new. Very deep purple-black colored, the nose is just a tad broody and closed to begin, opening out to reveal notes of warm cassis, redcurrant jelly, kirsch and raspberry leaves with hints of wild mushrooms, tilled soil and bay leaves. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers a good amount of juicy black fruits with plenty of invigorating red berry and herbal sparks and a chewy texture, finishing on an earthy note. 3,484 cases were made.

    WE9696 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 9/1/2021
Firm lines of graphite and loamy earth streak through the opulent aromas of black plum and dried violet on the nose of this brooding Pinot Noir. The palate is a whirlwind of exuberance, as leathery tannins wrap around more graphite minerality, dried violet and lavender, with stewed plum and a touch of bittersweet cocoa on the finish.
    SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2021
Ripe and rich, this is filled with concentrated Asian spice accents to the dark cherry and roasted plum flavors. Shows hints of dark chocolate and mocha on the plush finish. Drink now through 2023. 9,015 cases made.

  13. Domaine Isabel Ferrando Colombis Châteauneuf-du-Pape

    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#94185

    JD96+96–99 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - August 16, 2019
What could end up being the wine of the vintage, the 2018 Châteauneuf Du Pape Colombis is basically all Grenache brought up in demi-muids. It exhibits a deep purple color as well as a blockbuster bouquet of blackcurrants, smoked herbs, ground pepper, and cured meats. Deep, full-bodied, powerful, and tasting like the essence of Provence, it has sweet tannins, the rounded, sexy style of the vintage, and a finish that won’t quit. Love Grenache? Buy this wine.
    RP95+95–97 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Aug 2019
Looking much suaver and more elegant than the recently bottled 2017, the 2018 Chateauneuf du Pape Colombis features aromas and flavors of nearly crystalline-pure red berries, accented by hints of star anise, ground allspice and orange zest. Full-bodied and silky-textured, it’s a beauty in the making, with a fine bone structure supporting succulent, well-toned flesh.
    SP9595 pts. - Wine Spectator - Oct 21, 2020
This is a beauty, with a seductive display of Turkish coffee, singed alder, steeped plum and warmed anise aromas and flavors that move in unison, backed by a subtle garrigue note through the finish. A late echo of warm earth adds a finishing touch. Best from 2021 through 2037.
