Rombauer Zinfandel 2020 / 750 ml.

Item#: 99583

RP9191 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 4th May 2023
Rombauer’s 2020 Zinfandel is 87% Sierra Foothills, with the remainder of the fruit coming from Napa and Lake Counties; approximately half the fruit is from the family’s own vineyards. Aged primarily in older wood (less than 10% new oak), it’s a full-bodied, fruit-forward effort, marked by blackberries and mulberries. Gentle earth and briar notions bring just a bit of complexity to the table, while the texture is plush and ripe, the finish softly dusty and long. (Joe Czerwinski)

From the Producer

The wine bursts with bright fruit aromas of cherry and red plum, with notes of vanilla, holiday spices, and lavender all jumping out on the nose. Plum flavors continue to the palate, joined by layers of raspberry
jam, mocha, clove, and white pepper. The midpalate is soft and creamy, framed by fine tannins and ending with a long, lush finish which will leave you wanting another sip.

When it comes to US wine production, California is King. California wines account for almost 90% of all wines produced in the United States each year, and is home to the most celebrated vineyards and producers in the country. California is probably best known for its world-famous Cabernets and Chardonnays, many of which hail from its two most-acclaimed AVAs, Napa Valley and Sonoma County. Other prominent grapes used in California wines include Merlot, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, and Zinfandel (which California made popular).

The United States now ranks fourth in the world in wine production behind, France, Italy, and Spain. While about 90% of that wine is produced in California, other states like Oregon, New York, and Washington are establishing themselves as prime spots for wine production, as well. Just about any variety of wine can be found in production somewhere in the United States.

WE9393 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 4/1/2023
This deep and concentrated wine is as smooth as silk, scented with black currants, spearmint and a touch of toast, then soothes the palate with velvety tannins and lush, ripe fruit flavors. While easy to sip, it has a subtle, restrained tannin structure. Best–2028. (Jim Gordon)

Aromas of blackberries and currants with spicy herbs, pine wood and crushed rocks. Medium- to full-bodied, sleek and polished with soft tannins and silky texture. Juicy, blue-fruited finish. Drink now. (James Suckling)
