When it comes to US wine production, California is King. California wines account for almost 90% of all wines produced in the United States each year, and is home to the most celebrated vineyards and producers in the country. California is probably best known for its world-famous Cabernets and Chardonnays, many of which hail from its two most-acclaimed AVAs, Napa Valley and Sonoma County. Other prominent grapes used in California wines include Merlot, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, and Zinfandel (which California made popular).

The United States now ranks fourth in the world in wine production behind, France, Italy, and Spain. While about 90% of that wine is produced in California, other states like Oregon, New York, and Washington are establishing themselves as prime spots for wine production, as well. Just about any variety of wine can be found in production somewhere in the United States.

Dynamic and generous, this Zin combines old-school briar with sleek suppleness, serving up stylish flavors of raspberry and cherry accented by savory pepper, cinnamon and garrigue tones that sail on the rich finish. Drink now through 2033. 5,000 cases made. (Tim Fish)

RP93+93+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 13th Jun 2024
Owned by winemaker Tegan Passalacqua since 2012, this site was planted in 1915 on white sand soils on limestone bedrock. The 2022 Zinfandel Kirschenmann Vineyard opens with a slight reduction that gives way to ripe wild berries, dried orange peel, potpourri and tea leaves after significant aeration. The palate is medium-bodied, plump and quite generous at this stage, leading to an elegant, sweet-fruited and floral finish that begins on an evasive note but swells and builds in amplitude over time. Given the initial reduction and performance of the finish, this should benefit significantly from 2–3 years in bottle. It includes Mondeuse Noire, Carignan and Cinsault. (Matthew Luczy)
VN91+91–93 pts. - Vinous - Dec 2023
The 2020 Zinfandel Kirschenmann Vineyard screams with varietal character. Sweet red cherry fruit, Kirsch, cedar, new leather and pipe tobacco are nicely lifted in this mid-weight, textured Zinfandel. The 2022 has a bit more richness and mid-palate resonance than has been the norm. (Antonio Galloni)

Not Shippable. WNY Local Delivery and In-Store Pickup only. Learn More Sorry, this item is not available for shipment outside of the Western New York area. Either the bottle is too large for our packaging (i.e. we cannot ship anything larger than 750 ml), the dimensions/shape of the bottle doesn't fit within our packaging for safe shipment, or this is a widely-distributed wine (e.g. Barefoot, Yellow Tail, etc) which we only sell at our physical store or for in-store pickup.

This Chard takes me to a tropical island, with lots of fruit and florals. Find vacation-like notes of cherry blossom, white orchid, peony, lily and white rose. White peach and nectarine, lychee, coconut, lemongrass, lime leaf, melon and guava also join in. Sip happy. (Stacy Briscoe)
