The 2021 Game Trail exudes finesse from the very first taste. Crushed flowers, dark red-toned fruit, cinnamon, leather, menthol and dried rose petal build effortlessly as the 2021 shows off its undeniable class. Cabernet Sauvignon at 1,400 feet in the Yorkville Highlands is utterly sublime in this bottling from Marietta. (Antonio Galloni)
RP9494 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 19th Oct 2023
The 2021 Game Trail Cabernet Sauvignon is crunchy, refreshing and easy to drink. It’s scented of fresh blackcurrants and cherries, plus nuances of garrigue and charcuterie. The full-bodied palate is light on its feet with softly chalky tannins, bursts of mouthwatering acidity and a long, mineral-driven finish. You could drink this on its own or have it with medium-weight dishes at the table. (Erin Brooks)
WE9191 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/31/2023
This wine opens with immediate aromas of crushed roses and violets, followed by just ripe black currant, fresh fennel and tarragon. The palate is built on strong, textural tannins and driven by a generous dose of acidity, giving vivacity to those fruits and herbs and adding touches of black pepper, star anise and fresh cut wood. Deep ruby-purple, the 2019 Gibson Block Syrah has a core of cassis and soaring violet perfume with accents of coffee beans, dark chocolate, aniseed and mint. The full-bodied palate is powerful and concentrated with broody, iron-laced fruits, pleasantly chewy tannins and bright freshness elevating floral perfume on the finish. (Erin Brooks)

Some lovely rounded aromas of cut plums, black tea, well-ripened red cherries and sage. Medium-to full-bodied with tight tannins. Lovely, subtle concentration and intensity here. Generous without being overblown. Tar and bark. Driven with structure and length. A lovely example of what Northern California syrah is capable of. Best after 2024.

WE9393 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 11/1/2022
Bright, lively black-cherry and raspberry flavors light up this well-balanced, well-focused and charming wine. It doesn’t lack for tannins and does feel full bodied, but pure fruit flavors and the zippy mouthfeel keep it light on its feet. Small amounts of Petite Sirah and Barbera were added in. (Jim Gordon)
RP9292 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 14th Jul 2022
A blend of Zinfandel, Petite Sirah and Barbera, the 2020 Román Zinfandel has a medium ruby-purple color and aromatic layers of raspberry, red cherry, rhubarb, aniseed and lilac with touches of iron and orange peel. From the Yorkville Highlands AVA, the 100% Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 Game Trail Cabernet Sauvignon sports a deep purple color all the way to the rim. Spiced plums, cassis, cedar pencil, and exotic spice notes give way to a medium-bodied, concentrated, seamless wine that has class and charm. With fine tannin, good acidity, and a fresh, focused style, I suspect it will drink nicely for 7–8 years. (Jeb Dunnuck)
VN8888 pts. - Vinous - Apr 2018
The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Game Trail is a big, rich wine. Huge, burly tannins and overripe fruit give the 2015 a distinctly burly feel. Hints of black olive, smoke, tobacco, leather and sage add aromatic nuance, but this is a decidedly hearty Cabernet Sauvignon. The balance could be better here.

The 2018 Román is bright, punchy and full of Zinfandel character. Dark red and purplish fruit, spice and mint all race out of the glass effortlessly. Dollops of Petite Sirah and Barbera bring added complexity to the field blend. The 2018 is one of the best wines readers will find for the money. Quite simply, it is a screaming value.
JD9090 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - May 21, 2020
The 2018 Zinfandel Roman checks in as 92% Zinfandel, 4% Petite Sirah, and the rest Barbara that spent 10 months in neutral barrel. Spiced red plums, sandalwood, cedary herbs, and candied orange blossom notes all emerge from the glass, and it’s medium-bodied, with a straight, focused texture, beautiful balance, and a clean finish. It’s a charming, delicious red. (Jeb Dunnuck)

A blend of Syrah, Grenache, Petite Sirah and Viognier, the 2019 Christo has a deep ruby-purple color and alluring scents of blueberry jam and cassis with accents of loamy earth, violet, coffee beans and iron. The full-bodied palate is powerful yet silky, with seamless acidity and gobs of pure violet perfume on the long, layered finish. RP9494 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 3rd Jun 2021
The 2018 Armé Cabernet Sauvignon is 85% Cabernet Sauvignon blended with 7% Merlot, 4% Malbec and 4% Petit Verdot. Medium ruby-purple, it has pure, classic aromas of cassis, graphite, violets, loamy earth and tobacco. The intensely flavored palate is light on its feet with loads of juicy lift and a soft tannic frame, and it finishes long and floral. It’s an incredibly elegant style, particularly at this price point!
JS9393 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Wednesday, August 4, 2021
Round-textured and fruity with balance and softness, yet freshness at the same time. Medium-bodied. Attractive berry, currant and sweet green-tobacco undertones. 85% cabernet sauvignon, 7% merlot and 4% malbec and 4% petit verdot. Drink now.
VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2021
The 2018 Armé, Marietta’s Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend, is terrific. Blue/black fruit, leather, smoke, spice, tobacco, dried herbs and sage give the 2018 its strong aromatic presence. There’s quite a bit of tannin, though, so a few years in bottle are advisable. Armé packs a serious punch. And it’s a steal, too.

The 2017 Zinfandel Angeli, from a site in Alexander Valley, is rich, pliant and expressive. Super-ripe black cherry, hard candy, new leather, lavender and mint give the Angeli decidedly dark shades of expression. This sumptuous, flavorful Zinfandel should drink well for another decade or more.
