Vibrant nose with spiced cherries, plums, dried herbs, cloves and some bark. It’s medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins and juicy cherries. Fruity and caressing mouth-feel, before a medium finish. Drink now. (James Suckling)
VN8888 pts. - Vinous - Apr 2022
The dark and dusty 2019 Valpolicella Superiore opens with notes of dried strawberries, sage and crushed stone. This is soft textured and perfumed with inner violet and lavender tones over a core of black currants, all lifted by cooling acidity. It tapers off lightly structured while leaving purple-tinged florals and a hint of bitter cocoa. (Eric Guido)
SP8787 pts. - Wine Spectator - Nov 30, 2022
Light- to medium-bodied, this savory red layers dried black cherry, Earl Grey tea and smoky bacon fat flavors with light, plush tannins. Corvina, Rondinella and Corvinone. Drink now. 40,000 cases made, 8,000 cases imported. (Alison Napjus)

Veneto, in northeastern Italy, is home to some of the most celebrated Italian wines, including Amarone red wines. The cities Verona and Venice fall within Veneto, and the areas surrounding Verona in western Veneto is where you'll find Amarone and Valpolicella production. Western Veneto also produces some fantastic white wines, like Soave. Meanwhile, the eastern part of Veneto has something worth celebrating, as well, as that's where Prosecco comes from.

A lovely mix of red berries, bright orange peel and spicy cedar on the nose, following through to a full, round and silky palate with very fine tannins that are well integrated into the texture. Lots of flavor and good length. Hard not to settle down to a glass or two of this. Sustainable. Drink now. (James Suckling)

An elegant red, medium-bodied and fresh, with light, fine tannins framing a juicy range of sun-dried cherry and cranberry fruit, red licorice, eucalyptus and spiced orange peel notes that linger on the finish. Corvina, Rondinella and Corvinone. Drink now through 2029. 30,000 cases made, 7,000 cases imported. (Alison Napjus)

This wine has a beautiful balance between fruit and non-fruit aromas from the start. Aromas of wild plums, dried leaves and fresh flowers each share the moment in the glass. The palate is soft and fruit-forward, highlighting black cherry flavors at the core of the palate. This fruitiness is supported by notes of turned earth and Dutch-process cocoa on the finish. Valpolicella Classico Superiore

Item #: 87409

WE9191 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 9/1/2023
This Valpolicella is unique in that a portion of the wine has been dried (like in Amarone) for a little over a month. This blend of fresh and dried immediately shows on the palate with aromas of tart red cherries and then dried black cherries mixed with sweet and savory spices, dried flowers and fresh tobacco. The palate mirrors the nose and is lush but pops with vibrant acidity on the finish. (Jeff Porter)

Peppery wild berry and lavender tones wafts up from the 2019 Valpolicella Classico Superiore L’lmperfetto. It’s soft-textured and pure in style, with mineral-tinged red fruits and savory herbal rotes that form toward the close. The 2019 finishes with medium length, classically dry and with a salty flourish. The l’lmperfetto makes for a perfect Valpolicella to bring to the dinner table. (Eric Guido)

There’s a spicy citrus twang that enlivens the dusty black raspberries and exotic spices that waft up from the 2017 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico. It’s silken and deeply textural, with a bitter tinge of cinnamon and cacao up front that gives way to sweet wild berries and balsam herbs. There’s a wild air of autumnal spices and inner florals within, as well as saline-minerals that add salty depths. The 2017 finishes incredibly long but also youthfully tense and concentrated. There is a bit of heat that pokes out, but doesn’t get in the way, as nuances of rose and dark chocolate slowly fade. This beastly Amarone will require some cellaring to come fully into focus.

Dark and tangy, this medium- to full-bodied red has hints of crushed pine, violet and mandarin orange peel accenting blackberry fruit, minerally earth and iron. Well-spiced and expressive on the chewy finish. Corvina, Rondinella, Oseleta and Croatina. Drink now through 2027. 12,500 cases made, 2,450 cases imported. (Alison Napjus)

Very aromatic, pushing out aromas of dried red and black fruit, including dried blueberries and dates, together with a nice, spicy layer of nutmeg and pressed flowers. Full-bodied with an amazingly harmonious texture to the palate, thanks to the dense, very fine tannins that also provide super length. There’s a bright, saline mineral note that kicks in and pushes the finish even further. Exquisite Amarone. Drink or hold. (James Suckling)
VN9393 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2024
The 2018 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico opens with an herbal thrust that gives way to dried violets, lavender and crushed blackberries. It is sleek and racy in feel with lifted textures and tart wild berry fruits offset by zesty acidity. It tapers off long and staining, lifted by a bump of residual acidity as notes of red plum leave a pleasantly tart sensation. I quite like the energy here and expect that the 2018 will enjoy a broad and open drinking window. (Eric Guido)

This is one of those wines where your nose is in the glass for ages, enjoying the complex array of aromas that range from raspberries to dates, perfumed bark to polished wood, pressed flowers to fresh mushrooms. Full-bodied, dense and focused with fine, well-integrated tannins, plenty of fruit flavor and an endless finish. A joy to drink even now, but this will age gracefully for many a year. (James Suckling)
VN9797 pts. - Vinous - Mar 2023
The 2017 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva Sergio Zenato is totally classic to the Zenato style, with macerated cherries, raisins, sweet herbs, cocoa, black pepper and shavings of cedar. This deeply textural with a dense wave of mineral-encased dark red fruits and balsamic spice carried across a core of stimulating acidity. Mocha and clove mix with black currant and olive as the 2017 finishes dramatically long and potent. There’s simply so much going on here, and more is guaranteed to come with maturation. Also of note is that the 2017 clocks in at only 3.3 grams of residual sugar. This is as serious as they come. (Eric Guido)
SP9292 pts. - Wine Spectator - Oct 15, 2023
A harmonious version, with the deft integration of supple tannins and lively acidity lending a sense of elegance and accessibility. Features generous, expressive flavors of mulled cherry and black plum reduction, dried flowers and eucalyptus, milled pepper and iron that linger on the chewy finish. Corvina, Rondinella, Oseleta and Croatina. Drink now through 2028. 1,500 cases made, 100 cases imported. (Alison Napjus)

Zesty, vibrant and exotic, the 2016 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico makes a serious impression with its unique bouquet of dried roses, lime zest, cherry sauce, plums and a dusting of crushed violet candies. It’s silky and pliant in texture, motivated by juicy acids, with a mix of ripe strawberry, pomegranate and cranberry sauce, as balsamic spices and hints of almond come forward toward the close. There is so much going on here, as the 2016 resonates on wild berry fruit and sweet inner florals. This may be a more opulent expression of the vintage, but it’s built to last, and sure to win a lot of fans.

While this is heady and spicy, it’s also quite reserved for this producer, framing glazed cherries and dried meat against a backdrop of citrus and roasted herbs. The ornately woven texture and generous fruit work very well with the linear acidity and firm-tannin bite. Really excellent. Drink in 2021.
SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Oct 15, 2019
This is well-balanced and medium- to full-bodied, layering creamy tannins with a juicy profile of ripe black raspberry and currant fruit, woodsy spice, minerally graphite and smoke notes.
