Terroir al Limit Dits del Terra 2011 / 750 ml.

Item#: 79465

RP9595 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 26th Feb 2014
The 2011 Dits del Terra is an earthy Carinena from different vineyards in the village of Torroja on schist, slate soils from a very warm vintage. The wood is perfectly integrated (a characteristic in all their wines), feeling elegant, fresh and balanced, with more black than red fruit, a medium-bodied palate with some grainy tannins and an earthiness that calls for a little bottle aging. Mediterranean at heart, fennel, rosemary, thyme and some licorice develop with a little bit of time and patience. It was only bottled four months ago, and experience tells me that these wines improve and are much more drinkable after three years in bottle, so I’d wait a little bit before pulling the cork. Drink 2015–2020.
ST9393 pts. - Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar - Sep/Oct 2013
Deep ruby. Highly perfumed scents of red- and blackcurrant, smoky minerals, pungent flowers and Asian spices. Velvety and sweet in the mouth, with deep dark berry and floral pastille flavors. This very expressive wine has a spicy, penetrating finish that features fine-grained tannins and a suggestion of star anise.

The picturesque countryside of Spain is littered with vineyards large and small, and offers up some of the best value available on the wine market today. You can consistently fine critically-acclaimed Spanish wines selling for less than their counterparts from other wine-producing countries. The Rioja and Ribera del Duero regions are most famous, and there's nowhere else in the world where you'll find as many world-class Tempranillos.

This is very aromatic with crushed cloves, dried flowers, red fruit and black pepper. Medium-bodied, firm and fine-tannined with a delicious, persistent finish. Drink now or hold.

This grows at a north-facing parcel of 90-year-old carignan, a steep slope of schist and granite near the village of Torroja. Organically farmed, fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged in concrete tanks for 20 months, this is a floral, bright cherry beauty. With cool scents of jasmine and a brisk mineral feel, its simple lines give it a sense of truth and honesty, a carignan stark naked to it soil. Decant it for lean game, like grilled venison kebabs.

RP9898 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Dec 2020
I tasted two vintages of the top Garnacha (Peluda), so next to the 2017 Les Manyes, I also had the 2018; it was great to see the differences in the wines, even if the analytical data showed pretty similar. This amazing vineyard at 800 meters in altitude on red clay and gypsum soils has more in common with some vineyards from Montsant than the majority of other vineyards from Priorat. In 2016, they started aging the wine 100% in concrete, and they have no intention of going back. This is quite austere and compact and has had a slow oxidation in concrete, and the wine feels quite stabilized and fresher than other 2017s but again perhaps not as deep as the 2018. It’s not a showy vintage; it’s quite subtle. It takes a long time to open up in the glass, and it’s clearly the freshest of the 2017s. 3,200 bottles were filled in June 2020 after a longer élevage, exclusively in concrete for this second bottling lot.

A really beautiful wine with such depth and balance, showing creamy, polished tannins and a long, long finish. Full-bodied yet agile and caressingly textured. The finish shows plum, tile and chocolate character. Garnacha. Drink or hold.

RP9898 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Aug 2019
The 2016 Les Manyes is a hard act to follow, but I could have said the pure Cariñena 2016 Les Tosses was a Garnacha, such is the elegance and the floral, nuanced nose! This might be the most elegant Cariñena out there. It comes from a very old, steep vineyard in the village of Torroja on very dark slate soils. It matured in an oak foudre, quite old, and there is a nice note of graphite and wet slate, red and black cherries and a spice touch. It has great freshness, good acidity and is fluid and relaxed, powerful yet elegant and harmonious. 2,668 bottles were filled in July 2018.
JS9797 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Friday, July 26, 2019
The purity to this 100% cariñena is very, very impressive with rose petal, tar, asphalt and dark-fruit character. Full body. Tight and compact with beautiful depth and endless length. So much graphite and intensity. Chewy at the end. Drink after 2021.
JD9696 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 3/25/2021
A spectacular nose of ripe berry fruits, herbes de Provence, dried flowers, iron, and bouquet garni defines the 2016 Les Tosses, which is another 100% Carignan from this terrific estate sourced from a single vineyard of old vines outside the village of Torroja. Medium to full-bodied, flawlessly balanced and elegant on the palate, it has an incredible sense of finesse and purity, awesome minerality, and the tannin quality is off the charts. This is a gorgeous, elegant, perfumed and complex wine that does everything right. Drink bottles any time over the coming 10–15 years. (Jeb Dunnuck)

Understated and composed nose of blueberries, grapefruit, crushed slate and wild herbs with hints of cement, white pepper and violets. Firm and immaculate tannins on the medium-bodied palate with fresh, natural acidity. Lots of harmony here. An exciting carignan with lots of freshness and finesse. Drink or hold.
