"Vivid scarlet. Pungent red berry, blood orange and floral scents pick up a spicy topnote with air. Juicy and well-concentrated but lively as well, offering sappy strawberry, cherry and orange pith flavors and a touch of succulent herbs. Finishes long and smooth, with repeating florality and a gently sweet red fruit note." (90 pts.)

"The juicy and chewy unoaked red 2019 Señorío de P. Peciña Cosecha Tinto has bright ripe fruit and an earthy touch, a medium body and soft tannins that give it a supple texture. It’s a blend of Tempranillo with 3% Garnacha and 2% Graciano fermented with indigenous yeasts and kept in tank until bottling. 80,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in April 2020." (90 pts.)
One of Spain's most famous wine regions, Rioja lies in north central Spain near the border with France along the Rio Oja River. In fact, many French winemakers moved to this mountainous region from Bordeaux in the 19th century to escape the blight of Phylloxera, which was prevalent at that time. Red wines are typically blends, most commonly using Tempranillo and Grenache (Garnacha) grapes. White wines here are made from Viura grapes.

The picturesque countryside of Spain is littered with vineyards large and small, and offers up some of the best value available on the wine market today. You can consistently fine critically-acclaimed Spanish wines selling for less than their counterparts from other wine-producing countries. The Rioja and Ribera del Duero regions are most famous, and there's nowhere else in the world where you'll find as many world-class Tempranillos.
JS9191 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Thursday, August 2, 2018 Very ripe and slightly raw oak over black fruit and coconut candy. The palate has dense, chewy fruit and really assertive tannins.
