Item#: 97618

SP9494 pts. - Wine Spectator - Dec 31, 2021
Polished and expressive, with rose petal, black raspberry and spiced tea flavors that expand and flesh out on the savory finish. Drink now through 2029. 478 cases made.
RP9393 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 16th Dec 2021
Medium ruby-purple, the 2019 Pinot Noir Gregory Ranch has pretty aromas of berry fruit, orange peel, wildflower and autumnal earthy accents. The palate has intense spicy fruits, bright freshness and polished tannins, gliding seamlessly into a long, layered finish.
VN9393 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2022
Dark, bright-brimmed red. Spice- and earth-tinged red and blue fruit scents show a suave floral overtone. Youthfully taut bitter cherry, blueberry and spicecake flavors flesh out and take a sweeter turn through the back half. Finishes very long and precise, with gently gripping tannins and a resonating cherry flourish.
WE9292 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/1/2021
This vineyard designate has distinctive and palate-penetrating pine needle accents. It’s tight and focused, mixing cranberry and tart raspberry fruit with a light suggestion of truffly umami. The balance and complexity argue for further bottle age. It wraps up with well-ripened tannins that add touches of black olive and black tea.

From the Producer

An almost neon, dark raspberry color. Introduces itself with a gorgeous floral bouquet and an aromatic panoply of raspberry and strawberry candies, citrusy-lemon or grapefruit, and notes of black tea, sweet loamy earth, and mushroom broth. Silky, smooth, bright, and energetic on the palate. Darker fruited in flavor than in aroma with cherries, blackberries, and red plum. After 15 years working with this terroir, I, along with the Gregory family believe that this is our best effort to date. A very fun Pinot Noir to enjoy now.

Where It's From

Region / Oregon

View more wines from Oregon

Oregon didn't burst onto the wine scene until the 1980s, but it has since carved out a name for itself as a world-class region for cooler weather wines like Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. It's most famous for the former, with many critically-acclaimed Pinot Noirs originating in the region. The Willamette Valley is Oregon's most famous and most productive region. Other notable regions include the Rogue Valley, Walla Walla, and Columbia Valley.

Country / United States

The United States now ranks fourth in the world in wine production behind, France, Italy, and Spain. While about 90% of that wine is produced in California, other states like Oregon, New York, and Washington are establishing themselves as prime spots for wine production, as well. Just about any variety of wine can be found in production somewhere in the United States.

A barrel blend, the 2019 Pinot Noir Cumberland Reserve has a medium ruby-purple color and opens with some flinty tones over cranberries, bitter citrus and amaro aromas. Grainy and fresh, the medium-bodied palate offers crunchy fruits and fine earthy accents, finishing long, uplifted and spicy.

Generous and structured, with savory raspberry, tarragon and black tea flavors that build tension toward refined tannins. Drink now through 2030. 7,176 cases made.

Labeled reserve this is actually an entry-level Pinot for the expansive Bergström lineup. It’s a substantial effort that surely includes grapes from a number of first-class sites. It’s still young and stiffly tannic, but packed with well-ripened fruit flavors of blackberry and black cherry. The tannins kick in and add a firm frame with baking spices and an inviting herbal component around the finish.

Medium ruby-purple, the 2021 Pinot Noir Cumberland Reserve offers generous aromas of cranberry sauce, floral potpourri, blood orange and wafts of dried herbs. The medium-bodied palate is youthfully gregarious and focused on generous allspice flavors, although its chalky, tensile frame and long, latent finish suggest this has more to give with additional time in bottle. Fresh and juicy yet well-structured, with vibrant cherry and cranberry flavors that take on dusky spice and black tea accents. Builds richness toward medium-grained tannins. Drink now through 2032. 4,500 cases made. (Tim Fish)

Fresh and crunchy pinot with aromas of fresh strawberries, peppercorns, green olives, freshly turned soil and rosemary stems. Lovely silky texture, yet firm too, with tight-grained tannins and bright acidity. Delicious balance of sweet fruit and savory earthiness. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold.
