"The Còlpetrone 2016 Montefalco Rosso is a blend of 70% Sangiovese, 15% Sagrantino and 15% Merlot from a warm and classic vintage. This wine shows a lot of dark cherry and plum, but the fruit remains dry, lively and bright throughout. The acidic Sangiovese grape does a great job against the more tannic Sagrantino and softer Merlot components of the blend. About 90,000 bottles were rolled out. (Monica Larner)" (90 pts.)

"I like the bright pomegranate, cranberry and fresh-herb character on the nose and palate. Medium-bodied with well-integrated tannins and a clean, flavorful finish. Surprising freshness considering its age. All in place and nice to drink now." (91 pts.)
