Item#: 99189
A very polished cabernet sauvignon with currants, chocolate, and hazelnut. It’s medium- to full-bodied with silky tannins and a flavorful finish. Very long. The texture and flavor stays with you for a long time. One for the cellar but fun to taste. Better after 2025.

View more wines from Napa Valley
Napa Valley is California's -- and America's -- most famous and celebrated wine district. Located north of San Francisco, Napa Valley is most famous for its world-class Cabernets and Chardonnays. The region's acclaim officially took off following a 1976 tasting in Paris when renowned judges chose a Napa Chardonnay and Cabernet over top French wines made from the same grapes.
Most wineries in the region produce either a Chardonnay or a Cabernet, and usually it's both. Sauvignon Blanc and Zinfandel are also grown with success in Napa Valley. You'll likely recognize the names of some of the viticultural areas within Napa Valley, including St. Helena, Stag's Leap and Carneros.

When it comes to US wine production, California is King. California wines account for almost 90% of all wines produced in the United States each year, and is home to the most celebrated vineyards and producers in the country. California is probably best known for its world-famous Cabernets and Chardonnays, many of which hail from its two most-acclaimed AVAs, Napa Valley and Sonoma County. Other prominent grapes used in California wines include Merlot, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, and Zinfandel (which California made popular).

Fresh spearmint, cedar and red cherries give lots of lively flavors to this medium-bodied, lightly tannic wine as it soothes the palate, showing focused fruit and good balance. (Jim Gordon)
This red is hallmarked by plum and boysenberry compote notes, with light licorice accents on the easy, polished finish. Drink now. 15,000 cases made. (James Molesworth)

Very pretty depth with a tile and rock-like texture to this. Minerally. Redcurrant. Medium to full body. Juicy finish. Needs two or three years to soften and come together.
I think this is first time we’ve rated a Knights Valley Reserve ahead of the Private Reserve. Selected from rockier bits of the vineyards, the 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Knights Valley features aromas of black cherries and red raspberries, offering a vastly different and more interesting fruit profile than the regular Knights Valley bottling. Dark chocolate-mocha notes, vanilla and cedar bring additional complexity to the mix. This medium to full-bodied wine is ripe, plush and long on the finish, with two decades of deliciousness ahead of it. (Joe Czerwinski)
The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Knights Valley Reserve is a very beautiful wire in this vintage. Bright floral and mineral accents play off a core of intense, distinctly red-toned fruit. Best of all, the 2020 can be enjoyed with minimal cellaring. The strong savoriness of Knights Valley is not especially evident. I suspect that is mostly the function of a warm, dry growing season. (Antonio Galloni)

White peach, flint, and primary character. White blossom. Medium body. Medium phenolic texture and energetic acidity. Light lemon bitterness. Steely. Serious and solid. Drink or hold.
Fresh pear and lemon zest aromas lead to a silky texture laced with Bartlett pears, white peaches and hint of lemon. A medium body and rather light mouth-feel keep the wine charming and refreshing. (Jim Gordon)
Shows juicy, bright apple, pear and tangerine flavors, with accents of lemon blossoms, ginger, lemon verbena and a whiff of honeysuckle on the finish. Drink now. 26,091 cases made. (MaryAnn Worobiec)

Plenty of perfumed plum and lightly candied dark fruit as well as orange peel. Hints of dark chocolate. Medium to full body, juicy, zesty and vivd in the finish. So drinkable with lots of finesse. Gorgeous. Drink now or hold. (James Suckling)

2019 / 750 ml.
Lovely aromas of toasted herbs, baked plums, nutmeg and chicory root. Full-bodied with tight tannins. Juicy and succulent red and black fruit on the palate, accented by notes of hot paprika, rosemary and allspice. Complex, but remains approachable. 86% petite sirah, 6% syrah, 5% grenache and 3% mixed Rhone varieties. Best after 2025. (James Suckling)
Lots of ripe blue fruits, violets, flowers, and mineral-laced nuances all emerge from the 2019 Petite Sirah, a medium to full-bodied, inky, yet surprisingly vibrant and lively wine. It has fine tannins, and I love its overall balance. It’s going to have 10–15 years of longevity if well stored. (Jeb Dunnuck)
A bruiser, with concentrated blueberry, smoky meat and cracked pepper flavors that gather tension and tannins on the finish. Best from 2023 through 2030. 35,611 cases made. (Tim Fish)

2019 / 750 ml.
Aromas of black and red currants, dried herbs, black licorice and figs. Medium-to full-bodied with velvety tannins. Juicy and fruity at the start, but lovely ground spice emerges through the long finish. Well structured and harmonious. 39% merlot, 32% petit sirah, 19% cabernet sauvignon and 10% malbec. Best after 2025.

This is blowzy and rich, yet there are plenty of tannins to back it up, and they are dusty and firm at that. Full-bodied, but not heavy in any way. Layered and already delicious. A blend of merlot, petite sirah, cabernet sauvignon and malbec. Drink or hold.

Red Wine
2020 / 750 ml.
Red blends of this type rarely shine as brightly. This ultra concentrated and smooth-textured blend including Merlot, Petite Sirah and Malbec is inky dark in color, luxurious aromatic of blueberries, blackcurrants and mint followed by oak spices and dark chocolate on the palate. Creamy in texture, it is laden in massive but melted tannins. Best from 2026–2036. (Jim Gordon)
An open and delicious red with red fruit, plum and walnut aromas and flavors. Sage and thyme. Full-bodied with chewy tannins, yet it’s juicy and delicious. Dark chocolate at the end. Drink now. (James Suckling)
A wine that captures both sides of the Stags’ Leap Winery legacy, the 2020 The Investor Red Wine is a blend of Bordeaux varieties (Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec aged in French oak, 35% new) and Petite Sirah (aged in American oak, 24% new). Framed by vanilla and cedar, the nose imparts notions of black cherries and blueberries. I didn’t find any herbaceous notes here, but there’s plenty of richness and concentration in this medium to full-bodied effort that finishes velvety and long. (Joe Czerwinski)

2019 / 750 ml.
Aromas of plums, ripe red cherries, wet stones and roses. Medium-to full-bodied with soft tannins. Juicy and succulent with a lovely bed of red fruit. So fresh, too. Enchanting. 94% merlot, 5% petite sirah and 1% malbec. Drink now.
Offers a narrow beam of refined currant, tobacco and spice flavors that build tension and tannins on the finish. Drink now through 2028. 30,024 cases made. (Tim Fish)
The 2019 Merlot offers up scents of cherry tomato and Bing cherries on the nose, while it comes across as rather tart and tannic on the medium to full-bodied palate. It’s far from being my favorite offering from this winery, but as a steakhouse red-wine option, it’ll do just fine. (Joe Czerwinski)
