Schrader RBS Cabernet Sauvignon | Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard 2019 / 750 ml.

Item#: 99183

RP97+97+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 15th Sep 2022
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon RBS Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard is Clone 337, matured 18 months in 100% new Darnajou and Taransaud barrels. Marked on the nose by red berries, cherries and cedar, plus delicate cinnamon and clove shadings, this is a plush, concentrated full-bodied wine with a core of firmness to it and a long, lingering finish, both positive signs for aging. It’s one of the more approachable Schrader wines this vintage, but it should easily go another two decades. (Joe Czerwinski)
JD9797 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 12/21/2021
Lots of violets, flowery incense, cassis, and spice notes emerge from the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard RBS, a full-bodied, silky, elegant 2019 that shines just as much for its purity and balance as its richness and depth. Possessing good acidity, a lively, vibrant mouthfeel, supple tannins, and a great finish, it has plenty of up-front appeal yet should easily evolve for a solid 20 years if properly stored. (Jeb Dunnuck)
JS9797 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Wednesday, September 21, 2022
Racy, dark nose with pulpy character. Dried lychee, lavender and sandalwood. This is quite juicy, ample and almost a bit ethereal, despite the color and high alcohol. There is a fine twist of salinity on the palate that runs smoothly with lots of purple flowers. Really immaculate. Almost soft texture. Drink or hold.
SP9696 pts. - Wine Spectator - Oct 31, 2022
Gushes with pure violet, plum and cassis notes, all flecked with hints of black tea, anise and sassafras. Driven, with a graphite underpinning providing a spine that stays in the background as the fruit stretches out. Approachable already but no rush at all. Drink now through 2038. 1,500 cases made. (James Molesworth)

Where It's From

District / Napa Valley

View more wines from Napa Valley

Napa Valley is California's -- and America's -- most famous and celebrated wine district. Located north of San Francisco, Napa Valley is most famous for its world-class Cabernets and Chardonnays. The region's acclaim officially took off following a 1976 tasting in Paris when renowned judges chose a Napa Chardonnay and Cabernet over top French wines made from the same grapes.

Most wineries in the region produce either a Chardonnay or a Cabernet, and usually it's both. Sauvignon Blanc and Zinfandel are also grown with success in Napa Valley. You'll likely recognize the names of some of the viticultural areas within Napa Valley, including St. Helena, Stag's Leap and Carneros.

Region / California

When it comes to US wine production, California is King. California wines account for almost 90% of all wines produced in the United States each year, and is home to the most celebrated vineyards and producers in the country. California is probably best known for its world-famous Cabernets and Chardonnays, many of which hail from its two most-acclaimed AVAs, Napa Valley and Sonoma County. Other prominent grapes used in California wines include Merlot, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, and Zinfandel (which California made popular).

Country / United States

The United States now ranks fourth in the world in wine production behind, France, Italy, and Spain. While about 90% of that wine is produced in California, other states like Oregon, New York, and Washington are establishing themselves as prime spots for wine production, as well. Just about any variety of wine can be found in production somewhere in the United States.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon (Sonoma County) offers up copious jammy dark fruit, espresso, chocolate, cloves, licorice and new leather. Juicy and flamboyant to the core, the 2019 will fit the bill for readers looking for an affordable, succulent Cabernet. (Antonio Galloni)
WS8989 pts. - Wine & Spirits - 12/21
Lush, toasty oak richness meets astringent tannins in this warm, spicy cabernet. As the wine opens, the green edge of the tannins turns into an asset, pointing up mineral notes, suggesting this will benefit from a year in the cellar.

A blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Malbec and 3% Petit Verdot, the 2019 Hess Collection Cabernet Sauvignon Mount Veeder Estate Grown is gently herbal and cedary up front, with deep layers of blueberry, cassis and loam backing up those initial impressions. Full-bodied, rich and concentrated, it finishes long, with dusty tannins and a savory touch of black olive. (Joe Czerwinski)

This shows lots of ripe dark and blue fruit on the nose, together with some leafy character. Notes of spices, cedar wood and walnuts, too. Medium-to full-bodied with firm tannins and a fresh, juicy-fruit profile. Polished and smooth with an array of succulent berries and blue flowers in the aftertaste. Drinkable now, but better in two or three years. Try after 2024.
WE9292 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 5/1/2022
This is a well-balanced red with small amounts of other varieties like Merlot. Spicy, it shows well-integrated oak and tannin within a taut, elegant and lengthy palate of blueberry and black currant. (Virginie Boone)
SP9292 pts. - Wine Spectator - Jul 31, 2022
A sleek, polished style, with cassis and plum notes driving through, carried by a graphite spine and backed by tobacco, briar and savory notes. Drink now through 2030. 18,398 cases made. (James Molesworth)
RP9191 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st May 2022
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon includes small proportions of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec and was aged 16 months in 44% new French oak. For entry-level Napa, it’s a solid effort, marrying ripe cherries and hints of cassis with gentle notes of sage and cedar. Medium to full-bodied, it’s soft enough to drink now, yet it shows enough velvety tannins to age at least through 2030. Nicely done. (Joe Czerwinski)

Notes of ripe, spiced plums, licorice and cocoa nibs. Some vanilla with a hint of mint, too. Full body. Soft and round with a tannic yet fruity finish. Easy. Drink or hold.
WE8787 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 3/1/2022
Wood smoke and grilled beef aromas lead to cranberry and dark-cherry flavors plus plenty of oak spices in this full-bodied, moderately tannic wine.

Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard
2015 / 750 ml.

Item #: 87347

RP9797 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 18th Dec 2017
Coming from the Beckstoffer Georges III vineyard, the very deep garnet-purple colored 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon GIII bursts forth with an outrageously spicy nose of Chinese five spice and aniseed with a core of crème de cassis, blueberry pie, menthol and chocolate box plus a waft of bay leaves. Medium to full-bodied, rich, ripe and decadent on the palate, it fills the mouth with exotic spice layers and warm black fruits, framed by velvety tannins and great freshness, finishing with epic persistence. 318 cases produced.
SP9292 pts. - Wine Spectator - Nov 15, 2018
Plump, rich and juicy, with loads of dark berry flavors centered on black licorice and cigar box notes. Tannins grip the finish, so cellar this. Best from 2021 through 2032. 318 cases made.

Schrader Colesworthy Cabernet Sauvignon | Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard 2015 / 1.5 L.

Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard
2015 / 1.5 L.

Item #: 87346

JD100100 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 12/29/2017
Lastly, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard Colesworthy is a barrel selection from the Las Piedras Vineyard in St. Helena. It takes the classic LPV release and ratchets up the intensity without any additional sense of weight or heaviness. With incredible cassis, liquid violets, white flowers, and a distinct earthy, loamy minerality, this beauty has insane purity of fruit, a huge, layered, full-bodied style on the palate, sweet tannin, and a blockbuster finish. Don’t miss it! (Jeb Dunnuck)
JS9898 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Wednesday, May 23, 2018
There is brightness and intensity on the nose and palate with fantastic depth of blue fruits such as blueberries and blackberries. Oyster shell, too. Full-bodied, layered and beautiful. So much intensity and focus. High fidelity character.
RP9797 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 18th Dec 2017
Coming from the Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard, block C that is planted to clone 337, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard Colesworthy has a very deep purple-black color and incredibly primary nose of blackcurrant cordial, blueberry pie and preserved plums with wafts of licorice, charcoal, mulberries and baking spices plus a hint of red roses. Medium to full-bodied, very firm and very finely crafted, the palate features wonderfully ripe tannins and great freshness, harnessing the bold, primary flavors and restraining the very long, very youthful finish. 128 cases produced.
