Where It's From

District / Napa Valley

View more wines from Napa Valley

Napa Valley is California's -- and America's -- most famous and celebrated wine district. Located north of San Francisco, Napa Valley is most famous for its world-class Cabernets and Chardonnays. The region's acclaim officially took off following a 1976 tasting in Paris when renowned judges chose a Napa Chardonnay and Cabernet over top French wines made from the same grapes.

Most wineries in the region produce either a Chardonnay or a Cabernet, and usually it's both. Sauvignon Blanc and Zinfandel are also grown with success in Napa Valley. You'll likely recognize the names of some of the viticultural areas within Napa Valley, including St. Helena, Stag's Leap and Carneros.

Region / California

View more wines from California

When it comes to US wine production, California is King. California wines account for almost 90% of all wines produced in the United States each year, and is home to the most celebrated vineyards and producers in the country. California is probably best known for its world-famous Cabernets and Chardonnays, many of which hail from its two most-acclaimed AVAs, Napa Valley and Sonoma County. Other prominent grapes used in California wines include Merlot, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, and Zinfandel (which California made popular).

Country / United States

View more wines from United States

The United States now ranks fourth in the world in wine production behind, France, Italy, and Spain. While about 90% of that wine is produced in California, other states like Oregon, New York, and Washington are establishing themselves as prime spots for wine production, as well. Just about any variety of wine can be found in production somewhere in the United States.

Aromas of wet stone, gravel and blackcurrant. Full-bodied with fine, velvety tannins. Juicy, bright and fresh. Lovely dark fruit, with gravel and wet-stone notes adding very nice definition. Chocolate finish. Drink or hold.
SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Oct 31, 2022
A ripe, polished and direct style, with cassis, blackberry and red cherry puree gliding through, inlaid with light mocha and vanilla accents through the finish. Drink now through 2028. 93,000 cases made. (James Molesworth)

Schrader RBS Cabernet Sauvignon | Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard 2019 / 750 ml.

Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard
2019 / 750 ml.

Item #: 99183

RP97+97+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 15th Sep 2022
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon RBS Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard is Clone 337, matured 18 months in 100% new Darnajou and Taransaud barrels. Marked on the nose by red berries, cherries and cedar, plus delicate cinnamon and clove shadings, this is a plush, concentrated full-bodied wine with a core of firmness to it and a long, lingering finish, both positive signs for aging. It’s one of the more approachable Schrader wines this vintage, but it should easily go another two decades. (Joe Czerwinski)
JD9797 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 12/21/2021
Lots of violets, flowery incense, cassis, and spice notes emerge from the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard RBS, a full-bodied, silky, elegant 2019 that shines just as much for its purity and balance as its richness and depth. Possessing good acidity, a lively, vibrant mouthfeel, supple tannins, and a great finish, it has plenty of up-front appeal yet should easily evolve for a solid 20 years if properly stored. (Jeb Dunnuck)
JS9797 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Wednesday, September 21, 2022
Racy, dark nose with pulpy character. Dried lychee, lavender and sandalwood. This is quite juicy, ample and almost a bit ethereal, despite the color and high alcohol. There is a fine twist of salinity on the palate that runs smoothly with lots of purple flowers. Really immaculate. Almost soft texture. Drink or hold.
SP9696 pts. - Wine Spectator - Oct 31, 2022
Gushes with pure violet, plum and cassis notes, all flecked with hints of black tea, anise and sassafras. Driven, with a graphite underpinning providing a spine that stays in the background as the fruit stretches out. Approachable already but no rush at all. Drink now through 2038. 1,500 cases made. Shafer TD-9 2019 / 750 ml.

2019 / 750 ml.

Item #: 98501

JD9494 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 5/4/2022
An incredible value, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon TD-9 includes slightly more Merlot and is 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, 11% Malbec and the rest Petit Verdot. Round, sexy, full-bodied, and opulent, it has terrific aromatics of red and black currants, tobacco, chocolate, and lead pencil shavings. Drink this hedonistic yet balanced, elegant beauty over the coming 10–12 years. (Jeb Dunnuck)
JS9393 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Monday, February 7, 2022
Aromas of blackberries with old spice, dark cherries and cloves, following through to a medium to full body with a sold core of ripe fruit and a creamy and stony underlying character. Juicy and rich, yet not overbearing. Cabernet sauvignon, merlot, malbec and petit verdot. Drinkable now, but better in 2025.
RP9191 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Nov 2021
The 2019 Red Blend TD-9 is a blend of 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, 11% Malbec and 5% Petit Verdot. Deep garnet-purple in color, alluring notes of mocha, tapenade and truffles jump from the glass, backed up by a core of cassis and stewed plums. Full-bodied, juicy and plush in the mouth, it has a lively line and a wonderfully pure, fruity finish. (Lisa Perrotti-Brown)
SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - May 31, 2022
Polished and direct, with a beam of cassis and plum puree flavors flanked by singed vanilla. Features a flash of sweet tobacco on the finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2026. 9,000 cases made. (James Molesworth)

2019 / 750 ml.

Item #: 99439

JS9292 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Sunday, December 5, 2021
Black fruit, spiced plums, licorice, black olives, earth and sweet spices on the nose. It’s full-bodied with firm, chewy tannins. Structured and tannic with a rich core of black fruit on the mid-palate and a firm finish. Try in 2024.
JD9090 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 2/16/2023
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is a pretty, balanced, medium-bodied effort that brings plenty of ripe California fruit as well as sappy green herbs, violets, and floral notes. It has lots of varietal character, fine tannins, and outstanding balance. Drink bottles over the coming 10–12 years. (Jeb Dunnuck)

This wine offers a friendly expression with notes of blackberry, black plum, black currant, fennel, star anise, crushed violets, chocolate and a hint of lead and pencil shaving. Firm tannins coat the mouth and there’s just enough acidity to cut through for a needed refreshing quality. (Stacy Briscoe)

This varietal Cabernet Franc is rich and decadent, yet incorporates a freshness and vibrancy, that makes it well-balanced, enjoyable and extremely appetizing. Find notes of fresh and dried violets, blackberry, black fig, prune, coffee, cacao, vanilla, smoked wood, leather and a meaty umami. A real bang for the buck at $20. Enjoy now. (Stacy Briscoe)
