View more wines from Finger Lakes

Officially established in 1982, the Finger Lakes region has a storied history of wine production in New York State and is recognized the world over. The deep glacially formed lakes offer sublime growing conditions thanks to the sloping hillsides and moderating effect the lakes have on the temperature of the surrounding area.

The main growing regions are centered around Cayuga Lake and Seneca Lake (which each have their own AVAs) but quality wine is being made throughout the region. Riesling is the belle of the ball in the Finger Lakes (oftentimes being compared to the Rieslings of Germany) but success has been had with Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, and others.

Seeing as our store is located in the midst of New York's wine regions, we have a special affinity for New York wines. And so should you! New York is now producing some of the world's best Rieslings and Pinot Noirs, and there are lots of other terrific wines made from grapes like Catawba, Niagara, Cabernet Franc and others being produced here, as well. Every year, the quality, reputation, and demand for New York wines continue to soar. What are you waiting for? Uncork New York!

Country / United States

View more wines from United States

The United States now ranks fourth in the world in wine production behind, France, Italy, and Spain. While about 90% of that wine is produced in California, other states like Oregon, New York, and Washington are establishing themselves as prime spots for wine production, as well. Just about any variety of wine can be found in production somewhere in the United States.

When given time in the glass or decanter to open, this Cabernet Sauvignon-Merlot blend offers gentle, dusty aromas of dark chocolate, raspberry cordial, black olive and baking spices. There’s a lovely lift of acidity on the linear palate, the tart red fruit, savory spice and herb notes brocaded with sappy, cat’s tongue tannins. (Christina Pickard)

RP9191 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 28th May 2021
The 2017 Brut is a 55/40 blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir (with 5% Pinot Meunier) coming in with eight grams of sugar, 9.73 of total acidity and 10.8% alcohol. This was disgorged in January 2021, which date is on the back label, after about 34 months on the lees. Beautifully done, this seems fresh and balanced. It tastes great, but the acidity supports the fruit and always makes this seem dry and serious, not just fruity. There’s a crispy finish with slight nuances of toast. Mostly, this is not about complexity, but it is vibrant and lovely overall, a middle-of-the-road sparkler that still has notable distinction at a rather nice price.

RP9494 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 29th Jun 2016
The 2013 Late Harvest Riesling comes in with 120 grams per liter of residual sugar and 11% alcohol. The winery said to think of it as a Beerenauslese style. About 85% of the grapes had botrytis. As delicious as this is, it is the acidity and balance that make it special, not the fruit and sugar per se. It begins with all of those peach and apricot nuances typical of the style, but then it actually gets drier in perception. The big finish is classic in flavor, but also special for its grip and persistence. Refined, transparent and fresh, it handles its richness brilliantly, never cloying for a second. It was one of my favorite dessert wines on my recent trip.
WS9494 pts. - Wine & Spirits - August 1, 2015
This is a wine with immense complexity — a wonderland of botrytis, pine, saffron, honey, peach, apricot and smoke, all in an intricate mélange. The flavors continue in a savory mode, like honey infused with garrigue herbs, but what will bring you to the next sip is the energy of the wine, its brisk, assertive movement, effortlessly supporting all the richness. An impressive performance to present at the end of the meal with goat cheese.
WE9292 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 10/8/2016
Wildflower honey and sun-kissed tangerines merge beautifully in this marmalade-toned Riesling. It’s lusciously sweet yet nuanced, dusted in saffron and spice and vivaciously spry. Sweet citrus flavors reverberate long on the finish.
VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Jul 2016
Light yellow gold of medium intensity. A beguiling combination of white peaches, honey, lemon juice, and chamomile greets the nose. The palate is quite seamless, balancing its 120 grams per liter of residual sugar with a fine and sculpting acidity. Soft and appealing in the mouth, but with a stony depth that adds interest. Though decidedly sweet, there is enough freshness and structure to earn this wine a place on the dinner table, rather than the dessert cart.

Heady red fruit, spice and florals lead to a palate that’s light and crunchy with a cranberry tang and prominent but supportive, chalk-textured tannins. Drink now with a slight chill beside a plate of charcuterie. (Christina Pickard)

JS9292 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Monday, July 3, 2023
I love the apple blossom and white peach aromas of this racy and very focused dry riesling that is only medium-bodied (12% alcohol), but it is beautifully balanced with a long crisp wet stone finish. The best vintage of this Finger Lakes stalwart in quite a few years! Drink or hold. Screw cap. (Stuart Pigott)
WE9292 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 5/1/2024
A vibrant perfume of honeyed apple, citrus blossom and peach leap from the glass. Dry but with richness and oodles of fruit and floral flavor, this is an unmistakably Finger Lakes expression that finds balance and tangy freshness right to the end. (Christina Pickard)
WS9191 pts. - Wine & Spirits - 04/23
Scents of lemon and passion fruit have a mildly petrol-like overtone here. The flavors are bright and herbal, fiercely dry, with a mineral grip that’s hunger-inducing for prawns.
