Columbia Crest Grand Estates Cabernet Sauvignon 2020 / 750 ml.

Item#: 74793

WE8989 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/31/2022
Cabernet Sauvignon plus a small percentage of Merlot and Syrah adds up to a big “bang for the buck” experience. Black-cherry, dark-chocolate and orange aromas are flanked by wee bits of well-worn leather and roasted red bell pepper. The wine has grippy tannins and soft acidity to match up with gobs of blackcap-raspberry and blueberry flavors. Little touches of cedar and mocha powder add interest. (Michael Alberty)
WS8888 pts. - Wine & Spirits - 12/22
Dark and woolly with black-cherry and tobacco flavors and modest wood notes, this is generous and complex for its price.

Aromas of dried herbs, spicy oak and cigar box with ripe dark berries underneath. Medium- to full-bodied, firm and chalky with a polished but tight tannin structure and a succulent finish. Drink or hold. (James Suckling)
VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Mar 2023
The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Artist Series is dusty and youthfully coy on the nose, lifting from the glass with a bouquet of wild blueberries, sage and mint. It’s silky and texturally deep on the palate with tart wild berries and mineral nuances that balance as savory herbal tones collect toward the close. A coating of fine tannins lingers as the 2020 tapers off with a spicy twang and classic feel, leaving licorice and tobacco notes lingering on. The Artist Series Cabernet is refined for 20 months in a combination of new French and Hungarian oak. (Eric Guido)
WE9191 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 7/1/2023
Blueberry, blackberry, pencil lead and black tea aromas kick things off for this iconic wine’s 29th vintage. Medium bodied with muscular tannins and nice acidity, the Artist Series delivers heaping helpings of black currant, dark-chocolate-covered espresso beans and grilled meat flavors. Decant now or enjoy through 2035. (Michael Alberty)

Aromas of blackcurrants and dark cherries, together with walnuts, licorice and dried rose petals. It’s full and structured, with fine-grained tannins that are firm and slightly chewy. Juicy and mellow fruit hiding underneath. Creamy finish. Better after 2025. (James Suckling)
SP9393 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2022
This is tightly structured yet remains refined and expressive, with currant and plum flavors that are accented with espresso and dusty herbs, building tension toward broad-shouldered tannins. Hands off for now. Best from 2025 through 2034. 2,972 cases made. (Tim Fish)

RP9696 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 11th May 2023
Made with 6% Merlot, 3% Malbec and 2% Petit Verdot, the 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon opens with a rich, lively, expressive nose of black raspberry, oak and red florals that sway with sweet herbs and elegant baking spices. Full-bodied, fresh and still tannic, the wine will take a couple more years to come around but will be a juggernaut once it picks up momentum. After spending almost two years in 87% new French oak barrels, it will need some time, so be patient. (Anthony Mueller)

Attractive nose of blueberries, dark plums, dark chocolate, orange zest, cinnamon and violets. It’s full-bodied with delicious ripeness and plushness. Broad, muscular tannins. Pretty spice and chocolate character at the end. Long and caressing. 83% cabernet sauvignon, 12% malbec and 5% petit verdot. Drink from 2024. (James Suckling)

WE8787 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/31/2022
This hedonistic treat is a well-executed take on the buttery-creamy style of Chardonnay. The wine features coconut and warm apple-pie aromas, with a splash of rose water on the nose. Flavors such as lemon butter, spicy cinnamon and caramel apple fill every nook and cranny of the olfactory system. (Michael Alberty)
