14 Hands Cabernet Sauvignon 2020 / 750 ml.

Item#: 77010

WE8787 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 9/1/2023
Aromatically, this Cabernet Sauvignon, which includes small amounts of Merlot and Malbec, is one big black cherry, with traces of earth and tomato leaf. Dark plum and saline flavors are joined by a touch of roast pork and a lot of wood spice. Might work nicely with a bánh mì packed with Vietnamese ham. (Michael Alberty)
SP8686 pts. - Wine Spectator - Feb 29, 2024
Supple and juicy, with user-friendly cherry and spice flavors that end on a zesty accent. Drink now. 365,000 cases made. (Tim Fish)

Super ripe and syrupy, this wine drinks almost like a Port. Baked black cherries, black plums and milk chocolate are shaded by toasty, oaky vanillin flavors. (James Suckling)

This full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon begins with rich, sweet aromas that combine ripe raspberries and a chocolate milkshake. The theme continues on the palate when sweet cherries unite with chocolate-covered toffee flavors. This is big and rich, with brawny tannins providing an adequate frame. (Michael Alberty)

RP9898 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 11th May 2023
The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon opens with a lush, silky, rich, round nose with fresh and ripe notes that seduce and delight. Full-bodied, fresh and yet still tight, the wine offers a balanced structure and lifting tannins that elevate the mid-palate followed by juicy, fruit-forward layers and delightful oak spices. The Cabernet continues to show its depth and breadth, compounding its natural beauty. The Cabernet lingers on the ever-evolving, food-friendly finish and will benefit from another two years of bottle aging. The wine rested for 22 months in 100% new French oak. 5,450 cases produced. (Anthony Mueller)
VN9696 pts. - Vinous - Mar 2023
The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley opens slowly. At first dark and understated, it gains lovely floral perfumes with each passing swirl of the glass, as rose-tinged black raspberries evolve, laced with nuances of sandalwood, lavender and dark, dark chocolate. This floods the palate with an elegant wave of ripe red and black fruits complemented by sweet exotic spice, all expertly lifted by a core of zesty acidity. The 2020 leaves balsamic nuances, with clove and cherry liquor, while tapering off lightly structured with fine yet silky tannins. The balance and energy here is remarkable for such a powerful young wine. The 2020 hails from 90% Champoux to 10% Mach One Vineyard’s. (Eric Guido)
SP9696 pts. - Wine Spectator - Mar 31, 2024
This compelling red is rich and polished yet impeccably structured, offering expressive blackberry, espresso and clove flavors that build tension and texture toward refined tannins. Drink now through 2034. 5,450 cases made. (Tim Fish)

This superb value strikes first with a marine-themed nose of a salty ocean breeze, a driftwood beach fire, blackberries, olive oil and a trace of bacon fat. Smooth and viscous, with dark plum and bittersweet chocolate-covered cherries coating the palate. (Michael Alberty)

RP9696 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 11th May 2023
Made with 6% Merlot, 3% Malbec and 2% Petit Verdot, the 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon opens with a rich, lively, expressive nose of black raspberry, oak and red florals that sway with sweet herbs and elegant baking spices. Full-bodied, fresh and still tannic, the wine will take a couple more years to come around but will be a juggernaut once it picks up momentum. After spending almost two years in 87% new French oak barrels, it will need some time, so be patient. (Anthony Mueller)

JD9898 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 6/14/2023
The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon checks in as 82% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% each of Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc from a mix of sites in the heart of the Walla Walla Valley. Its dense purple/plum color is followed by beautiful bouquet of pure cassis, leafy tobacco, chocolate, spicy oak, and graphite. This carries to a powerful, concentrated, burly, yet incredibly well-balanced Cabernet with a great mid-palate, a layered, building, powerful texture, beautiful tannins, and outstanding length. This blockbuster, serious, age-worthy beauty needs 3–5 years of bottle age (it will probably take a decade to hit maturity) and will have 2–3 decades of longevity. (Jeb Dunnuck)
JS9595 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Wednesday, May 24, 2023
Aromas of blackcurrants and dark cherries, together with walnuts, licorice and dried rose petals. It’s full and structured, with fine-grained tannins that are firm and slightly chewy. Juicy and mellow fruit hiding underneath. Creamy finish. Better after 2025. (James Suckling)
SP9393 pts. - Wine Spectator - Feb 29, 2024
This is tightly structured yet remains refined and expressive, with currant and plum flavors that are accented with espresso and dusty herbs, building tension toward broad-shouldered tannins. Hands off for now. Best from 2025 through 2034. 2,972 cases made. (Tim Fish)
