Allegrini Palazzo della Torre 2019 / 750 ml.

Item#: 80530

JS9393 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Tuesday, September 6, 2022
Intense nose with hints of coffee and black chocolate to the raspberry jam and dark cherries. Nicely dry and bitter with dark-chocolate character that extends to the long, polished finish with silky tannins. Drink or hold.
WE9292 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/31/2022
Dark and intense in color, the wine has intense aromas of spiced black plums, blackberry pie and black cherries. Though the fruit is very intense, it is wrapped up by herbal and cocoa notes. The palate is lush and velvety, with fine tannins that give the wine the structure it needs to keep the fruit from being too dominant. This is a big, bold and beautiful wine. (Jeff Porter)
SP8989 pts. - Wine Spectator - Oct 15, 2023
Shows soft cherry and baked black plum fruit flavors that are lush and creamy on the palate, accented by hints of dark chocolate, anise and dried sage. Veneto, in northeastern Italy, is home to some of the most celebrated Italian wines, including Amarone red wines. The cities Verona and Venice fall within Veneto, and the areas surrounding Verona in western Veneto is where you'll find Amarone and Valpolicella production. Western Veneto also produces some fantastic white wines, like Soave. Meanwhile, the eastern part of Veneto has something worth celebrating, as well, as that's where Prosecco comes from.

Italy is famous for its powerful, sleek, and elegant reds wines from ancient growing areas with legendary names such as Chianti, Barolo, Barbaresco, Montepulciano. Italian white wines are also gaining popularity: Orvieto, Pinot Grigio, and Sauvignon are excellent examples of Italian white wines.

Wines of Italy are complex and flavorful, much like the culture that is their source and the cuisine that is their match.

Vibrant nose with spiced cherries, plums, dried herbs, cloves and some bark. It’s medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins and juicy cherries. Fruity and caressing mouth-feel, before a medium finish. Drink now. (James Suckling)
VN8888 pts. - Vinous - Apr 2022
The dark and dusty 2019 Valpolicella Superiore opens with notes of dried strawberries, sage and crushed stone. This is soft textured and perfumed with inner violet and lavender tones over a core of black currants, all lifted by cooling acidity. It tapers off lightly structured while leaving purple-tinged florals and a hint of bitter cocoa. (Eric Guido)
SP8787 pts. - Wine Spectator - Nov 30, 2022

Allegrini La Grola 2010 / 750 ml.

2010 / 750 ml.

Item #: 79589

RP9191 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Oct 2013
The 2010 La Grola is 80% Corvina and Corvinone, 10% Oseleta and 10% Syrah, with a large emphasis on the Syrah. You really feel the width and the softness of the Rhone Valley variety backed by loads of black fruit and dried currant. Embellishing contours of dark spice, leather and moist chewing tobacco bring up the rear. After an hour or two in the glass, the wine begins to show territory-driven notes of dried apple and apricot. Drink 2014–2022.
SP8989 pts. - Wine Spectator - Feb 28, 2014
Well-knit and balanced, with hints of graphite and ground anise accenting the black cherry, raspberry, black licorice and hot stone flavors. Corvina, Oseleta and Syrah. Drink now through 2017. 17,700 cases made.

JS9494 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Friday, October 22, 2021
Very rich black fruit on the nose with a ground-base of blackcurrants, tainted with notes of prunes and dates. Smoky-spice notes add complexity. Full-bodied with intense, exotic black-fruit flavors, just as on the nose. Firm tannins and good acidity complete the picture. Good intensity and drive here. Drinkable even now, but best from 2023, when the tannins will be softer.
RP9494 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 16th Dec 2021
The Allegrini 2017 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico shows dark fruit and spice that all point to the hot and dry conditions of this vintage. The wine is balanced with a good amount of dark fruit intensity but no overtly jammy or baked fruit. That dense fruit wraps thickly over the palate, supported by backend aromas of charred spice and campfire embers. This is a blend of 45% Corvina Veronese, 45% Corvinone, 5% Rondinella and 5% Oseleta with 120 days of appassimento. 100,000 bottles were made.
VN9393 pts. - Vinous - Apr 2022
The 2017 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico pulls you close to the glass with its beguiling bouquet, mixing spicy tangerine and hints of animal musk, giving way to black cherries, rose and cedar spice box. It’s potent and elegant, yet elevated by bright acidity and a cool-toned core of saline-minerals. Sour cherry and exotic spices linger under an air of rosy florals with a chalk-like smoky note. This is only lightly structured and a total pleasure to taste today.
SP9393 pts. - Wine Spectator - Oct 31, 2021
A rich hint of tarry smoke on the nose is more subtle on the palate in this harmonious red, underscoring an expressive range of black cherry, dried fig, espresso and the loamy earth and herb aromatics of a forest floor. Tangy citrus peel acidity and fine-grained tannins provide fine definition through to the lightly chewy finish. Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Oseleta. Drink now through 2030. 12,000 cases made, 1,300 cases imported.

JS9494 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Thursday, November 7, 2019
For a decadent but sleek wine, the ripeness level is spot-on here. It opens with glazed cherries, dried berries, vanilla, eucalyptus, caramel and wet earth, before following through to a dusty palate with tons of dried fruit, supported by fine acidity and a sweet-and-sour character. Drink from 2023.
WS9292 pts. - Wine & Spirits - February 1, 2020
Despite the warm, dry growing season of 2015, this shows fresh scents of lavender and wild thyme that lift the wine’s densely concentrated flavors of black plum and baked raspberry. Layers of dark chocolate, black olive and espresso add dimension, while a note of peppery spice lingers on the finish.
SP9191 pts. - Wine Spectator - Oct 15, 2019
A creamy and harmonious red, medium- to full-bodied, featuring light, dusty tannins that frame the flavors of baked black cherry, date, grilled thyme and loamy earth. Fresh and elegant, with a spiced finish. Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Oseleta. Drink now through 2027. 6,000 cases imported.

A harmonious, medium- to full-bodied red structured by creamy tannins, with a zesty thread of milled pepper and anise enlivening mulled black cherry and black plum reduction. Reveals hints of stemmy herbs, dark chocolate and fresh earth that linger on the juicy finish. Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Oseleta. Drink now through 2030. 12,000 cases made, 4,600 cases imported. (Alison Napjus)
JS9393 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Tuesday, September 6, 2022
A very well-made Amarone that shows good poise and dryness on the palate, with black chocolate, cigars, dark raspberry jam, wax and graphite. Lots of silky, melted tannins on the medium-to full-bodied palate, before an elegant and dry finish. Excellent length. Sustainable. Still needs some time for extra complexity to come through. Drink after 2023. (James Suckling)

VN9595 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2021
There’s a dark, mineral-driven complexity to the 2016 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico that keeps you coming back to the glass over and over again. Sometimes it’s licorice, sometimes blackberry or maraschino cherry, but always backed by a mix of autumnal spice, sour citrus and hints of animal musk that intrigue the senses. Velvety-smooth and almost creamy in weight, as sweet red fruits flesh out, taking on nuances of violet candies and cloves toward the close. This is pure elegance, dense yet balanced, and delivering a layer of fine tannins that linger long, as hints of bitter coffee and dark chocolate slowly fade. All of this, and at an amazingly respectable 15.5% abv. Bravo.
WE9595 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 3/1/2021
Ripe plum, blue flower and spice aromas lift out of the glass in this full-bodied red. The smooth, concentrated palate boasts a weightless elegance, delivering blackberry compote, ripe Morello cherry, licorice and baking spice framed in enveloping, velvety tannins. Drink 2022–2031.
JS9494 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Tuesday, September 1, 2020
Very attractive dried fruit, such as plums, with fig and walnut undertones. Full-bodied with round, polished tannins that are chewy, but very smooth. Flavorful finish. Drink now.
SP9393 pts. - Wine Spectator - Jun 30, 2021
An elegant red, medium- to full-bodied and mouthwatering throughout, this layers supple, lightly chalky tannins with a pleasing range of crushed black currant, fresh thyme and minerally salt and iron notes. Bright and polished, with a lingering, spiced finish. Drink now through 2030. 12,000 cases made, 1,300 cases imported.

Aromas of plum and black cherry that give way to notes of black tea, violet and savory spices. The palate is well-balanced, highlighting both the fruit and non-fruit flavors equally. Black and red berries share the stage with notes of espresso, anise, dried leaf and limestone. Fine tannins and meaningful acidity make this wine a standout. (Jeff Porter)
RP9393 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 5th Oct 2023
The Allegrini 2019 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico reverts to a classic profile for air-dried fruit made with appassimento. There are distant whiffs of candied cherry that give more lift and intensity to the bouquet that is otherwise characterized by heavier tones of black fruit, candied cherry, red licorice and sweet earth or potting soil. It finishes with a well-balanced full-bodied style (and a noticeable 16% alcohol content). The traditional blend is 45% Corvina Veronese, 45% Corvinone, 5% Rondinella and 5% Oseleta, and 100,000 bottles were released. (Monica Larner)
SP9292 pts. - Wine Spectator - Feb 29, 2024
Elegant and balanced, medium-bodied and harmonious, this Amarone offers ripe black and red cherry fruit and a subtle minerally underpinning of smoke and loamy earth. Reveals hints of fig cake, ground anise and dried thyme, which add complexity and linger on the refined finish. Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Oseleta. Drink now through 2034. 12,083 cases made, 4,117 cases imported. (Alison Napjus)
