Westwood Legend

Proprietary Red Wine
2019 / 750 ml.

JD9090 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 3/10/2022
The 2019 Proprietary Red Wine Legend is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Syrah, 8% Counoise, and the rest Grenache and Tannat, sourced from Sonoma County. This spicy, textured, herbal (although not green) effort has lots of red and black fruits, medium to full body, ripe tannins, and outstanding length. It’s a character-filled, satisfying red to drink over the coming 7–8 years. (Jeb Dunnuck)

Pellada Naked Vine

2018 / 750 ml.

RP9595 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 29th Jul 2022
The 2018 Tinto Quinta da Pellada Woman Label is a blend of all seven blocks of the Pellada properties (unlike the 2018 Pellada in this report). It is a field blend from old vines aged for four years in well-used French oak. The winery has only made this seven-block blend once before, in 2003. Showing beautifully, this is elegant and complex, with moderate tannins and lush texture. The finish is long and persistent, even while nothing is harsh or astringent. This is a beauty that is hard to resist. It will also age well, maybe better than indicated. (Mark Squires)

Potent and concentrated, with gutsy currant flavors that are accented by licorice, espresso and smoked pepper flavors, finishing with slightly gritty tannins. Zinfandel, Syrah and Petite Sirah. Best after 2024. 68,000 cases made. (Tim Fish)

Tips for Enjoying Your Red Blends Wines

To maximize the enjoyment of your red blend wines, serve them at room temperature, ideally around 65°F. This temperature helps to unleash the complex flavors and aromas in each glass. Red blends pair excellently with robust dishes such as grilled meats, hearty stews, and strong cheeses. For an enhanced tasting experience, allow the wine to breathe for a few minutes before drinking. This simple step can significantly deepen the wine's character, making each sip more satisfying. Enjoy experimenting with different pairings to discover your favorites!
