Lots of purple fruit with blackberry and blueberry aromas, as well as cement and stone. Floral undertones, such as poppies. Medium to full body with firm tannins and a savory finish. Hints of dried, clove-like spice. No wood here. Drink now or hold.

The 2020 Concreto Malbec also impressed me, because it comes from the warmest and most challenging vintage of recent years, yet the wine keeps its poise and depth. This is a selection from shallow, stony and calcareous soils from Altamira, so the vines are quite sensitive to heat. If you encounter it on its own, it will feel fresh and superb; the problem is tasting it next to the 2021, which is what I did, because there is an extra degree of freshness, precision and clarity in the 2021, one of the finest vintages for this wine so far. This fermented with full clusters that were foot trodden to prevent carbonic maceration and had a short maceration to get a fine-boned and elegant wine, with an even shorter maceration in warmer years. This is a wine that always transcends the price point. 43,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in February 2021. (Luis Gutiérrez)

The 2020 Malbec Concreto from Paraje Altamira, Uco Valley was fermented in whole bunches and aged in concrete. A bright, rich purple in the glass. The initially reductive nose delivers pure fruit flavors of ripe plum and blackberry before opening out into sweet and sour cherry with hints of herbs. Makes a broad entrance before the mild flow and juicy freshness, while the variety’s sweet tannins join forces with the gentle chalk to produce a pleasant, compact feel. The warm year accounts for a good measure of the structure and volume, resulting in a long-lasting, juicy and flavorful wine. (Joaquín Hidalgo)

RP95+95+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Nov 2022
The 2021 Concreto Malbec has to be one of the finest vintages of this wine despite its youth and still shy personality. But there are tons of flowers, wild herbs and berries there waiting to emerge in an insinuating way, with austerity but unfurling layers and layers as the wine sits in the glass. It’s incredibly fine-boned with chalky tannins that scream limestone, full of precision and purity. For Sebastián Zuccardi, they didn’t do anything different, it’s just the character of the year. This is the wine that explains their philosophy without breaking your piggy bank. It is delicious, serious, approachable and with aging potential. What else do you want? I have sometimes confused this wine blind with one of their top bottlings. This is one of the best values around. They produced 47,000 bottles in this vintage. It was bottled in February 2022. The 2021 Malbec Concreto from Paraje Altamira, Uco Valley was aged in concrete. Purple in the glass. It has a crisp, expressive nose of fresh plum, sour cherry and hints of blackberry, herbs, violets and lavender. Free-flowing but relaxed in the mouth, the palate leaves behind a mixture of chalk and juicy freshness before the sustained, pure fruit finish. The year suited this style perfectly. (Joaquín Hidalgo)

Such a brooding nose with black pepper, violet and fresh blueberry and blackberry fruit. Spicy and tight on the palate, but super polished, racy and refined. Medium-to full-bodied red with beautiful tannin tension and expressive, floral notes in the finish. Exemplary and authentic! So delicious now. Why wait?

A youthful, lively and expressive red, showing floral macerated cherry and plum flavors amid toasted herb and espresso bean details. Ends with minerally tannins, which are firm yet perky, and a note of baker’s chocolate. Best after 2024. 10,000 cases made, 6,000 cases imported. (Aaron Romano)

The 2020 Malbec Poligonos Del Valle De Uco San Pablo was aged in concrete. A vivid purple in the glass. The pure, expressive nose delivers fresh plum and sour cherry, country herbs and floral hints. In the mouth, it’s energetic and driven by the freshness with finely grained tannins and a free flow. The palate lingers at length, reliving the aromatic profile. Even though 2020 was a warm year, freshness was preserved by the cool region. (Joaquín Hidalgo)

A touch of black pepper lends spice to a nose of Jarilla, ripe red plum and chalk. Well structured, this red from one of the higher altitude vineyards in Uco Valley, delivers layers of fresh cherry and blueberry flavors accented by rosemary. It has a mineral texture and lively acidity finishing with spicy notes. (Jesica Vargas)
