Shop Our Selection of Rhone Valley Wines

Of all the French wine, Rhone reds are consistently some of the most popular and best sellers, thanks in part to the wide variety of Rhone wine that's available. You'll find stellar value bottles under $10, terrifically complex mid-range wines, and the coveted and collectible Chateauneuf du Papes.

Northern Rhone wines are rustic and traditional Syrah-based reds, while the wines from the southern Rhone are more Grenache-heavy (though there are dozens of permitted grapes for the area). The whites are generally richer in style, combining Grenache Blanc, Viognier, Roussanne and/or Marsanne. In addition, the roses from this area are some of the country's best.

    Andezon Côtes du Rhône

    2013 / 750 ml. | Item#77574

    RP8989 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 25th Jun 2014
Solomon’s custom cuvee, the 2013 Cotes du Rhone Andezon, was aged totally in concrete vats. It reveals a dense ruby/purple color as well as lots of smoky, frying lard-like notes intermixed with notions of blackberries and cassis. Solomon calls it his “southern Cornas-based” wine. That’s not hyperbole. This medium-bodied effort has been helped by the addition of 10% Grenache, which provides additional flesh. It is a killer value to drink over the next 1–2 years.
    SP8787 pts. - Wine Spectator - Nov 15, 2014
Ripe and fleshy in feel, this offers good weight to the plum and blackberry fruit, with a fruitcake-accented finish. Lacks range, but remains tasty enough. Drink now. 6,000 cases imported.

    2009 / 750 ml. | Item#63283

    RP8989 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 1st Oct 2010
Slightly richer with sweeter fruit and additional ripeness as well as higher alcohol is the Andre Brunel 2009 Cotes du Rhone-Villages Cuvee Sabrine. This Grenache-dominated offering possesses a dark ruby/purple-tinged color in addition to lots of lavender, black currant and cherry notes intermixed with notions of forest floor and tobacco leaf. Drink this medium to full-bodied 2009 over the next 2–3 years.
    SP8989 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2011
Quite ripe, delivering dark plum, anise and crushed blackberry fruit notes laced with a graphite spine. A nice grippy edge marks the finish. Drink now.
    WE8888 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 10/1/2012
Dark and intense, with notes of roasted meat, plum and black olive that give way to an espresso note and chalky tannins on the finish. Pretty stern stuff, which just means you’ll want to give it another year or two before drinking it over the next 5–6 years.

    WE9191 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 9/1/2017
A tinge of copper to this white’s hue suggests a bit of skin contact, and there’s a decided textural element and tannic grip on the palate as well. Pear and melon flavors finish refreshing and mouthwatering in spite of the wine’s richness. Drink now.

The 2015 Cairanne Creation Grosset is a kirsch, strawberry and floral-dominated beauty that has plenty of texture, medium to full-bodied richness and no hard edges. I’m sure it’s smoking value.

    2015 / 750 ml. | Item#85500

    SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Feb 28, 2017
Very solid, with a core of warm plum, blackberry and black cherry compote notes carried by a singed alder spine through the grippy finish. Shows more range as it stretches out in the glass, with spice, tobacco and warm stone details, though the structure remains a bit rustic in the end. Best from 2018 through 2023. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 8,400 cases made.
    VN88+88–90 pts. - Vinous - Mar 2017
Ruby-red. Spice-accented raspberry and cherry aromas are complicated by suggestions of garrigue and white pepper. Sweet and expansive on the palate, offering lively red and dark berry flavors that turn slightly warm on the back half. In an open-knit, fruity style, delivering firm closing punch, gentle tannins and good persistence.
