Shop Our Selection of French Wines

In France, wine is life. Though many people are only familiar with famous French wines (like the First Growth Bordeaux or Grand Cru Burgundies), savvy shoppers know that delicious, value-priced wines can be found in all of the major French wine regions. In fact, all of the noble grapes (Cabernet, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling) can be found among the diverse terroirs in major French regions (Bordeaux, Burgundy, Rhone, Loire, Alsace).

  9. Alfred Gratien Brut Champagne
    Alfred Gratien Brut Champagne

    NV / 750 ml. | Item#93094

    VN9191 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2015
Light, bright gold. Sexy smoke- and mineral-laced aromas of ripe citrus and orchard fruits, plus with a suave floral overtone and a late hint of vanilla. Sappy and seamless on the palate, offering pliant orange and yellow apple flavors and a bracing jolt of chalky minerals. Closes with repeating smokiness and strong thrust, leaving a subtle honey note behind.
    RP8989 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st Dec 2009
The NV Brut is a wonderfully elegant, classy wine laced with perfumed fruit that carries through to the finish, where smoke and toastiness add further layers of complexity. This mid-weight Champagne is an impeccable wine at the non-vintage level. Disgorged: June, 2008, (not indicated on the label). Anticipated maturity: 2009–2013. This is an impressive set of wines from Alfred Gratien. The wines are notable for their sheer class and refinement.
    ST8888 pts. - Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar - Nov/Dec 2000
Strong mousse. Fresh, floral aromas of apple, mint, toast and cumin. Lively and intensely flavored; concentrated and round. An attractive middle-of-the-road style, with enticing ripeness of fruit and moderate dosage. Finishes with good length.
    WE8888 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/1/2005
A very lean, dry style that focuses on its acidity and green fruits. This makes it a style that needs good bottle aging — the sample tasted was too young. But for those who like dry, crisp Champagnes, this is beautifully made.
    SP8686 pts. - Wine Spectator - Dec 31, 1998
A firm-textured, lively tasting brut that combines fresh citrus notes with a crisp texture and a clean finish. Drink now through 2000.
