Shop French Bordeaux Wine

Red Bordeaux wine is almost always blended, with two major grapes (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot) making up the bulk of the wine, and potentially small quantities of Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot and/or Carmenere can be added. White wine from Bordeaux will also be blended, predominantly with Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon.

The blend and style will vary depending from which Bordeaux wine region the grapes are sourced, with softer Merlot-driven reds coming out of the Right Bank, more muscular Cab-driven reds from the Left Bank and the best crisp whites from between the two rivers.

  5. Domaine du Bouscat Caduce

    2012 / 750 ml. | Item#82406

    RP8888 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 29th Apr 2015
The 2012 Caduce (70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the balance Malbec and Cabernet Franc) is a major over-achiever. Delicious, ripe black cherry and blackcurrant fruit, spice and earth jump from the glass of this dense ruby/purple wine. Medium-bodied, fleshy and plump, this is a hedonistic tour de force that should drink nicely for another 3–4 years.

Dark red cherry, plum, smoke and leather meld together in Domaine du Bouscat’s 2012 Caduce. Drink this fleshy, open-knit wine over the next few years. As always, Caduce is ripe and racy in style. At around $15 a bottle, Caduce is also one of the very best values readers will find in Bordeaux, anywhere for that matter. The 2012 is 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Malbec and 5% Cabernet Franc.

    WE8686 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 4/1/2019
This fresh, black-currant-flavored wine balances attractive fruitiness against light tannins and plenty of acidity. Partially aged in wood, this bright wine will be ready to drink from late 2019.

  10. Château La Branne

    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#91412

    VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Oct 2018
The 2016 La Branne has a lovely, generous and pure bouquet with blackberry, raspberry and tobacco aromas that just burst from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannin, smooth in the mouth with a touch of white pepper and clove towards the quite complex finish. What a superb Médoc. Tasted at the Oenoconseil tasting room in Bordeaux.

  15. Domaine Virginie Thunevin Bordeaux

    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#86265

    VN9191 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2019
The 2016 Virginie Thunevin is a very pretty wine. Sweet tobacco, cedar and grilled herb notes add lift to a core of red/purplish fruit. Pliant, expressive and inviting, the 2016 is an absolutely delicious Bordeaux to drink now and over the next few years.
    JD8989 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 2/28/2019
From vines next to Fronsac and brought up in a mix of inox and concrete, with oak staves added for some wood influence, the 2016 Domaine Virginie Thunevin offers up a medium-bodied, rounded, silky profile as well as plenty of black raspberry and blackcurrant fruits. Showing plenty of spice, a supple, elegant texture, and moderate tannins, I’d be happy to drink bottles any time over the coming 4–5 years.
