Shop for Beaujolais Red Wines

Red Beaujolais wine is comprised of the Gamay grape, which is similar to Pinot Noir, but with more fruit-forwardness and a bit more softness.

The most famous of these is the Beaujolais Nouveau wine which is released on the third Thursday of November every year. Everyday Beaujolais and Beaujolais Villages wines are light, vibrant and easy-to-drink, as well, while the higher-end Cru Beaujolais (from regions such as Julienes, Brouilly, Moulin a Vent or Fleurie, etc) exhibit greater complexity while maintaining a similar body and smooth texture.

    RP9292 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 19th Aug 2021
The 2020 Beaujolais-Villages Les Vignes de Lantignié has turned out beautifully, bursting with aromas of blackberries, spices and loamy soil. Medium to full-bodied, ample and succulent, with lively acids, melting tannins and a beautifully defined finish, this is worth a special effort to seek out. It’s a benchmark for the appellation and the region, plus it’s a terrific value.

This is pretty crisp and sleek, but there are a slew of red-berry aromas, also plenty of wild strawberry here. A bit tart and simple at the finish, but on a warm day this should provide serious refreshment. Drink now.

    RP9393 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Aug 2019
The 2018 Fleurie Clos de la Grand’Cour bursts with notes of raspberries, cherries, rose petals, cinnamon and blood orange. On the palate, it’s medium to full-bodied, supple and enveloping, with a juicy core of fruit, ripe acids and melting tannins. Pretty, open-knit and fleshy, this was matured half in foudre and half in old barrels.
    VN9393 pts. - Vinous - Oct 2019
Shimmering magenta. Displays red/blue fruit compote, candied rose and mineral aromas, along with notes of anise and smoked meat. Silky and spicy on the palate, offering concentrated and alluringly sweet raspberry, cherry and floral pastille flavors that are underscored by a dusty mineral nuance. Youthful tannins build slowly through the strikingly long, floral-tinged finish, which leaves sappy red fruit and exotic spice notes behind.

Saturated ruby. A complex, expansive bouquet evokes ripe red and dark berries, potpourri, smoked meat and incense, with mineral and exotic spice notes emerging slowly. Bitter cherry and blackberry flavors smoothly blend depth and energy and turn sweeter as the wine gains air. Closes extremely long and spicy, with resonating florality and polished tannins adding subtle grip.
