Where It's From
Region / Bordeaux
Bordeaux is known the world over for its exceptional wines, particularly red blends made with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes, among others. These Cabernets aren't typically the full-bodied Cabs you get from California, but rather medium-bodied wines that emanate elegance and sophistication.
You'll also find some refreshing Bordeaux whites and, of course, Bordeaux's famous dessert wine, Sauternes.
Country / France
The French did not invent winemaking. They simply perfected it. For centuries, France has been producing wines that inspire poetry, awe, and wonder; wines that blur the lines between nature, craftsmanship, cuisine and art. These are the wines that inspired cultures around the globe to follow in France’s footsteps, planting Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, Grenache, Merlot, Semillon and more.
Yet as often as they are emulated, the magic of their terroirs can never be duplicated. You may taste Cabernet from around the world, but perhaps none as elegant and regal as Bordeaux. You may try Pinot Noir or Chardonnay from various climates, but none with the earth-bound soul and ethereal reach of Burgundy.

2020 / 750 ml.
Apricots, honeysuckle, lemons, mango crumble, earl grey and vanilla beans on the nose. Pretty spice notes that keep going, married with fresh zesty undertones. Elegant, even somewhat understated, with a long and vibrant finish. Drink now or hold. (James Suckling)
Bright, juicy and with good freshness, this pushes a mix of yellow apple, pineapple and white peach to the fore, backed by a long elderflower honey note that holds the finish prettily. Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc. Drink now through 2035. 1,250 cases made. (James Molesworth)
Pale lemon-gold in color, the 2020 Guiraud opens with enchantingly earthy notes of wild mushrooms, crushed rocks and white truffles, giving way to a core of peach tart, preserved mandarin peel and poached pears, plus wafts of lemongrass and lime leaves. The palate is suitably rich and decadent, framed by a racy backbone and satiny texture, finishing long with loads of mineral and earth sparks. (Lisa Perrotti-Brown)

This is a beautiful, layered white with solid structure and intensity. Full-bodied. Lots of grapefruit and dried green-mango character. 54% semillon, the rest sauvignon. Best ever. Beautiful to drink now.
This bracing white gains a touch more body from its white peach, jicama and lemon verbena notes, though it’s still on the refreshingly skinny, zippy side of the ledger. Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc. Drink now through 2024. 4,392 cases made. (James Molesworth)
Composed of 54% Semillon and 46% Sauvignon Blanc, the 2020 Le Blanc Sec de Suduiraut is being aged for six months in vats (75%) and the rest in oak barrels, 30% of which are new. It hits the ground running with vibrant notions of freshly squeezed limes, lemon meringue pie and Granny Smith apples, plus hints of dillseed and white pepper. The medium-bodied palate delivers an impressive satiny texture along with a racy line cutting through the citrus and apple-inspired flavors, finishing long and steely. (Lisa Perrotti-Brown)

On another level, the 2020 Château Suduiraut is flat-out stunning and boasts a phenomenal array of orange blossom, honeyed minerality, lychee nut, caramelized peach, and assorted spices. Rich, full-bodied, and concentrated, it nevertheless has the vintage’s riveting purity and precision. Sauternes doesn’t get much better. (Jeb Dunnuck)
What an amazing nose of tropical fruits like lychees, mangoes and pineapples, with botrytis spice, too. Full and very layered with candied apple, tangerines and kumquats. Sweet and so balanced. Super brightness, too. Acidity balances it out. Pure semillon. Production was only 4 hectoliters per hectare. (James Suckling)
This wine is pure Sémillon, giving richness. The weight gets a massive lift from acidity and aromatic, spicy honey. The wine’s balance is impeccable, with poise and elegance, and it will age well. Drink from 2026. (Roger Voss)
A bold, unctuous style, with generous apricot, papaya and creamed yellow apple notes coated liberally with marzipan, pecan and warm pie crust accents. For fans of the old power style of Sauternes. Drink now through 2035. 2,865 cases made. (James Molesworth)

2016 / 750 ml.
The 2016 Suduiraut is fabulous. Crème brÈ—lée, passion fruit, tangerine peel and exotic floral notes all race out of the glass. I marvel at how Suduiraut can deliver so much flavor intensity and yet remain so gracious and classy. The 140 grams of residual sugar are very well integrated. This is such a gorgeous wine.
The pale lemon-gold colored 2016 Suduiraut features vibrant lime blossom, candied peel, white peaches, guava and exotic spice notes on the nose with nuances of marzipan and crème brûlée. Rich, layered and powerful in the mouth, it has a gorgeous creamy texture, lovely vibrancy and a long, spicy finish.
A very concentrated Sauternes with a cornucopia of dried papaya, pineapple and mango, plus candied orange and tropical flowers that bowl you over. Although it stays in the background, there’s great acidity in this wine that keeps it very straight and clean, in spite of the luscious extravagance. Bright, citrusy finish. Drink or hold.
As to the Sauternes, the 2016 Château Suduiraut boasts a medium gold color and a fresh, clean, beautifully perfumed bouquet of orange blossom, honeyed pineapple, and flowers, with notable botrytis, which can be lacking in a number of Sauternes in 2016. With moderate acidity, a fleshy, full-bodied texture, and loads of fruits, it’s geared more toward drinking over the coming 10–15 years than any over-the-top cellaring. (Jeb Dunnuck)
This is a powerful style, with a mix of creamed pear, fig, papaya and persimmon flavors liberally laced with crème brûlée and orange blossom honey notes, through a ginger-tinged finish. In line with the vintage’s forward persona, but this has notably more breadth and depth than most of its peers. Best from 2023 through 2038. 5,333 cases made.
