Welcome to the Nahe Riesling deep end, from where you can look up and still see the sun. Enormous depth and complexity at the spectacular finish, but oh, so filigree! An absolute masterpiece of winemaking in the off-dry riesling style! Drink or hold.
RP9797 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 13th Aug 2020
The 2019 Riesling Auslese Niederhäuser Hermannshöhle is crystalline and flinty on the precise, ethereal and bright nose that represents the terroir of the Hermannshöhle beautifully and irresistibly. On the palate, this is a highly finessed, filigreed, playful and delicate Auslese with stimulating piquancy and salinity on the weightless and frisky but elegant finish. This is a fascinating Auslese with great detail and precision. Personally, I even prefer this clear and bright version (AP 17 20) to the richer, sweeter and more concentrated one that will be auctioned (AP 19 20) and possibly has the greater aging potential. However, both will live longer than I will anyway. Tasted in May 2020. (Stephan Reinhardt)

The German wine-making tradition is long and illustrious, dating back to as early as AD 800. And for a country just slightly smaller than Montana, Germany produces and consumes a great deal of wine (it's the seventh-largest producer and sixth-highest consumer).

Germany is situated at the most northerly latitude at which grapes can ripen; the winters are cold and the growing season short, all of which, incidentally, are nearly identical to the Finger Lakes Region of New York. Most of its wine regions are situated in central and southwestern Germany. The most significant are the Rheingau, Rheinhessen, Rheinpfalz, Mosel-Saar-Ruwer, Nahe, Franken and Baden.

The Riesling grape is king in Germany, even though it represents only 20% of total plantings: Müller-Thurgau (a Riesling-silvaner cross) has the most, followed by the red grapes Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) and Dornfelder. In good years and in the care of master winemakers, Riesling makes one of the greatest white wines in the world, with a perfect balance of sugar and acid, exquisite fruit and fragrance and with considerable potential for aging.

A prototypical riesling Spatlese with all the juiciness and the wide spectrum of fruit aromas—stone fruit, citrus fruit and berries—that belong to this style, together with the typical touch of natural grape sweetness. Such a zesty finish that it would be extremely hard to run away, rather than to turn back to the glass! From organically grown grapes with Fair’n Green certification. Drink or hold.

From very old vines, the 2021 Norheimer Kirschheck Riesling Spätlese is clear, precise and elegant yet also complex on the nose that offers bright cherry and fruit aromas. On the palate, this is a light, refined and elegant, very delicate and light-footed Spätlese with remarkable finesse and fine phenolic grip. It’s stimulatingly saline and grippy on the finish. 8% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in July 2022. (Stephan Reinhardt)

This shimmers like gold, and the succulence of this wine makes it extremely hard not to swallow, then to immediately reach for the bottle. Very dense and complex, with a level of energy that makes you wonder where it comes from and how this could be possible. Super-long finish that’s so intense and delicate. From organically grown grapes with Fair’n Green certification. Drink or hold.
RP9595 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 25th Aug 2022
From the southeast-facing part of the vineyard, the 2021 Niederhäuser Hermannshöhle Riesling Spätlese is very clear, pure and flinty on the concentrated nose. Sweet, refined and very elegant on the palate, this is a weightless, saline and filigreed, playful Spätlese with great balance and delicacy. Not dramatic but quiet and in beautiful balance. 8% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in July 2022. (Stephan Reinhardt)

A very serious Kabinett that has so much depth as well. Stunning, peachy fruit that is beautifully counterpointed by the mineral freshness that drives the stunningly refreshing finish. From organically grown grapes with Fair’n Green certification. Drink or hold. Screw cap.
RP9494 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 23rd Sep 2021
The 2020 Niederhäuser Klamm Riesling Kabinett is from volcanic soils and opens with a clear, pure and refined, coolish, spicy and stony bouquet with tropical fruit aromas (passion fruit) and crystalline, flinty tones. Round and lush on the palate, this is a crystalline, linear, intense and refreshing spicy Kabinett with a highly stimulating and juicy finish. A gorgeous Kabinett indeed. 9% alcohol. Tasted at the domain in July 2021. (Stephan Reinhardt)
