  4. Château Rieussec Sauternes

    2016 / 375 ml. | Item#95620

    JD9797 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 2/28/2019
A step up over the Carmes de Rieussec, the beautiful 2016 Château Rieussec has remarkable purity and freshness while still packing beautiful depth of fruit. Honeyed peach, apricot, flower oil, and even a hint of wet stone all emerge from this full-bodied, thick, opulent effort. I love it. It has a rounded, sexy style ideal for drinking any time over the coming 15-20 years. The 2016 is a final blend of 83% Sémillon, 12% Sauvignon Blanc and 5% Muscadelle.
    JS9797 pts. - - Sunday, February 3, 2019
So much botrytis on the nose with spice, dried mushrooms and nutmeg. Dried lemons and mangoes. Full-bodied and medium sweet with density and, at the same time, lightness. I like that it is full of botrytis on the palate at the beginning and then turns fruity and very pretty at the end with citrus and fruit. Balanced, creamy and rich. Try after 2024, but already gorgeous.
    RP96+96+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 29th Mar 2019
Pale lemon colored, the 2016 Rieussec comes sashaying out of the glass with a beautiful floral and citrus perfume of orange blossom, pink grapefruit, yuzu, lime leaves, lemongrass and fallen leaves with hints of nutmeg and candied ginger. Having shed a lot of the puppy fat from when I last tasted this from barrel, the palate reveals loads of elegant, tightly wound layers and seamless freshness, finishing long and fragrant.
    VN9494 pts. - Vinous - Aug 2020
The 2016 Rieussec has plenty of botrytis on the nose, along with scents of honey, white peach, saffron, lanolin and walnut that gain intensity with aeration. The very well balanced palate presents a viscous opening and a fine bead of acidity. Generous and poised, with hints of marzipan and Turkish Delight decorating the finish. Excellent. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.
    SP9393 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2019
Quite fresh, with acacia and honeysuckle notes out front, followed by a stream of mirabelle plum, yellow apple, pineapple and white peach flavors. Offers an unctuous feel on the finish while staying on the brighter side. Among the top efforts in the vintage. Best from 2022 through 2035. 500 cases made.

  7. Château Suduiraut Sauternes

    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#95619

    VN9797 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2019
The 2016 Suduiraut is fabulous. Crème brȗlée, passion fruit, tangerine peel and exotic floral notes all race out of the glass. I marvel at how Suduiraut can deliver so much flavor intensity and yet remain so gracious and classy. The 140 grams of residual sugar are very well integrated. This is such a gorgeous wine.
    RP95+95+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 29th Mar 2019
The pale lemon-gold colored 2016 Suduiraut features vibrant lime blossom, candied peel, white peaches, guava and exotic spice notes on the nose with nuances of marzipan and crème brûlée. Rich, layered and powerful in the mouth, it has a gorgeous creamy texture, lovely vibrancy and a long, spicy finish.
    JD9595 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 2/28/2019
As to the Sauternes, the 2016 Château Suduiraut boasts a medium gold color and a fresh, clean, beautifully perfumed bouquet of orange blossom, honeyed pineapple, and flowers, with notable botrytis, which can be lacking in a number of Sauternes in 2016. With moderate acidity, a fleshy, full-bodied texture, and loads of fruits, it’s geared more toward drinking over the coming 10–15 years than any over-the-top cellaring.
    JS9595 pts. - - Sunday, February 3, 2019
A very concentrated Sauternes with a cornucopia of dried papaya, pineapple and mango, plus candied orange and tropical flowers that bowl you over. Although it stays in the background, there’s great acidity in this wine that keeps it very straight and clean, in spite of the luscious extravagance. Bright, citrusy finish. Drink or hold.
    SP9393 pts. - Wine Spectator - Mar 31, 2019
This is a powerful style, with a mix of creamed pear, fig, papaya and persimmon flavors liberally laced with crème brûlée and orange blossom honey notes, through a ginger-tinged finish. In line with the vintage’s forward persona, but this has notably more breadth and depth than most of its peers. Best from 2023 through 2038. 5,333 cases made.

  8. Clos Haut-Peyraguey Sauternes

    2015 / 750 ml. | Item#95621

    JS9595 pts. - - Monday, February 5, 2018
This young Sauternes shows beautiful richness and ripeness with mango, pineapple and peach character. Full-bodied, layered and gorgeous. So refined and complex. Love the harmony and depth. Always so refined. Such beauty. Drink or hold.
    VN9494 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2018
The 2015 Clos Haut-Peyraguey is much more delicate in bottle than it was from barrel. Floral and lifted, with pretty mango, pineapple, apricot and yellow flower nuances, the 2015 is absolutely striking in its beauty. Above all else, what I admire about the Clos Haut-Peyraguey is the expression of richness with no excess weight. This beautifully layered, polished Sauternes is a winner from Bernard Magrez.
    SP9393 pts. - Wine Spectator - Mar 31, 2018
A broad, unctuous style, with creamed mango and papaya notes that impart a tropical feel, while light green tea, honeysuckle and singed almond notes help this along. Long glazed peach echo on the finish. Drink now through 2037. 1,608 cases made.
    WE9393 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 9/1/2018
Poised between crispness and richness, this is a well-balanced wine. With touches of spice as well as fragrant honey and orange-marmalade flavors, the wine is already delicious. It also will age well, with a ripe, generous future. Drink the wine from 2023.

  11. Robertson Winery Gewürztraminer

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#73563

    RP8787 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 28th May 2021
Opening with a delightfully floral nose with aromas of rosewater and honeysuckle, stone fruit and lychee, the 2019 Gewurztraminer offers expressions of apples dipped in honey, sweet citrus and fruit cup. Light to medium-bodied, the wine makes me crave creamy blue cheese, as the wine expresses a precipitable residual sugar that is similar to honey-sweetened peach tea. It ends with a straightforward and plushy finish. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a better deal at this price.

    2010 / 500 ml. | Item#95498

    WE9595 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/31/2019
Golden amber in the glass, this delightful Hungarian sweet wine has aromas of canned apricot, ripe peach and white flowers. In the mouth, there are flavors of lemon curd, peach and apricot, with nice heft and balance on the palate. Increased acidity keeps this wine absolutely delicious and not too sweet.
    SP9494 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2020
Like fine cashmere, this is richly plush in texture, yet remains weightless on the palate, where a tang of salinity and orange peel acidity freshens the expressive glazed apricot, passion fruit pâte de fruit and Marcona almond flavors. Exotic ground spice and perfumed floral notes create a heady, aromatic overtone on the lasting finish. Furmint, Hárslevelü, Zéta and Sárga Muskotály. Drink now through 2030. 1,583 cases made.
