JD9191 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - February 21, 2018 A custom cuvée made for importer Eric Solomon with Jean-Marc Lafage, the 2016 Alcaria is a blend of 50% Monastrell, 25% Syrah, and the balance Garnacha, brought up in a mix of French and American oak barrels. An incredible value that more than over-delivers, this deeply colored red boasts terrific notes of ripe black fruits, chocolate, smoked herbs, and graphite. With full-boded richness and a sexy, opulent style on the palate, it opens up nicely in the glass and should keep for 2–4 years.RP8989 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 29th Dec 2017 One of the new custom cuvées for their U.S. importer Eric Solomon is the 2016 Alcaria, which is about to be launched. It’s a GSM-ish blend of 60% Monastrell with 25% Syrah and the remaining Garnacha Tintorera with a short time in French and American oak barriques. It’s a little reduced right now after bottling (most probably because of the Syrah), so you might need to give it an energetic decanting or some more time in bottle. The meat component in many wines in this region is part of the signature and the rustic elegance of these wines. There is no reduction in the palate, where the tannins are fine-grained and there’s good balance. 120,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in July 2017.SP8989 pts. - Wine Spectator - Dec 31, 2017 Floral and mineral notes frame juicy cherry and red plum flavors in this fresh red. Crisp acidity keeps the supple texture focused, while firm tannins give this some heft. Monastrell, Syrah and Garnacha Tintorera. Drink now through 2024. 6,000 cases imported.WE8989 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 6/1/2018 This blend of Monastrell, Syrah and Garnacha Tintorera feels lively, its dark plum and berry aromas laced with chocolate. Smacking tannins create a dry sensation, framing ripe black plum and prune flavors. Complex notes of spice and tomato emerge on the firm finish.Premier SelectPremier Select wines are handpicked by our staff from amongst thousands of wines for their exceptional quality. RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Dec 2016 I had not crossed paths with this wine in a while, so I was looking forward to tasting the 2015 Bonarda Colonia Las Liebres, a sure value and very representative of the grape. It’s produced from their own estate vineyards. They aim for a fresher expression of the variety here, with fine-grained tannins, blending grapes from different zones in the province; the grapes are fermented in stainless steel and kept in cement vats, never in contact with oak. 2015 was very warm towards the end of the cycle, and the harvest was 15 days earlier than anticipated. The nose is clean and the palate is soft, a light Bonarda without any oak, a juicy, fresh and easy to drink expression of the variety. It was harvested early and not extracted. The price is almost unbelievable; one to buy by the case. There are four lots of this wine, the first one of 28,434 bottles, but 46,000 liters remain unbottled.Premier SelectPremier Select wines are handpicked by our staff from amongst thousands of wines for their exceptional quality. It’s elegantly packaged with a light blue label that would look gorgeous at a lunchtime table set by the pool.

WS9090 pts. - Wine & Spirits - December 31, 2010 This spicy moscato tastes fresh and cool. It feels full and rich, but not sugary — the fruit is what lasts, with hints of nectarine and kumquat. RP90+90+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 29th Apr 2022 The 2020 Laya is balanced, harmonious and serious, and the vintage seems to have absorbed the oak quite nicely. VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2016 Bright violet color. Exuberant dark berry and floral scents are complemented by a suggestion of cracked pepper. Seamless and energetic on the palate, offering fresh blackberry and boysenberry flavors that spread out nicely on the back half. Graceful and seamless in style, finishing with very good clarity and gentle, shaping tannins. This wine was fermented and aged in large stainless steel tanks.WE8686 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 8/1/2017 Cherry and blackberry aromas come with spice and cool note of cola in this Monatrell-Syrah blend. It’s narrow and tannic, with black fruit and desert herb flavors that finish dry and rubbery.
