Talbott Kali Hart Pinot Noir 2016 / 750 ml.

Item#: 68572

VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Oct 2018
Deep brilliant red. Lively red berry and candied rose aromas pick up notes of cola and allspice in the glass. Fleshy and seamless on the palate offering fresh raspberry and cherry flavors that become sweeter with air. A minerally flourish adds lift and cut to the floral-dominated finish which lingers with very good tenacity.
SP8888 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2018
Very complete, with plum, raspberry and strawberry notes that are elegant and persistent. Drink now through 2023. 38,000 cases made.

When it comes to US wine production, California is King. California wines account for almost 90% of all wines produced in the United States each year, and is home to the most celebrated vineyards and producers in the country. California is probably best known for its world-famous Cabernets and Chardonnays, many of which hail from its two most-acclaimed AVAs, Napa Valley and Sonoma County. Other prominent grapes used in California wines include Merlot, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, and Zinfandel (which California made popular).

This is a best barrel selection from Sleepy Hollow Vineyard in the Santa Lucia Highlands. Only 430 cases were produced. It’s a tremendous Chardonnay, just huge in the white Burgundy mode: ripe tropical fruit, new oak, lees, unfined and unfiltered. Right now, it’s a little gangly, like an adolescent who’s growing too fast. But we know this wine knits together as it ages. Best 2007–2011.

Wonderful complexity and depth. Offers a mix of youthful pear, apple, melon and citrus, with some mature tropical fruit notes that pick up a wonderful graham cracker and cinnamon spiciness that’s enticing. Drink now through 2009.

Concentrated raspberry and brambleberry aromas mix with iron and brown mushrooms on the nose of this wine from a historic vineyard originally planted in 1972. The palate is sanguine with bloody meats and pencil lead, with earthy beet-juice flavors and unrelenting minerality, almost like licking the earth itself.
VN9191 pts. - Vinous - Aug 2015
Bright red. Blackberry, dried cherry, licorice and woodsmoke on the pungent nose. Chewy, sharply focused bitter cherry and dark berry flavors stretch out and deepen with air, picking up a peppery nuance on the back half. Nicely balanced, precise Pinot Noir with no excess fat. Finishes with very good thrust and persistence and dusty tannins that add grip.

Yellow-gold. Leesy peach, pear and floral honey aromas are complemented by vanilla bean and buttered toast qualities. Plump-verging-on-sweet, with broad tropical and orchard fruit flavors, soft acidity and a pliant texture. Delivers a deep impression of apricot nectar on the long, fleshy finish. Seriously packed with flavor and impressively seamless, but I wish that there were more nerve and vivacity. Fans of the type will likely rate this higher.

Superrich and perhaps a tad sweet, with a mix of fig, melon, pineapple and butterscotch, ending with a rich, cloying aftertaste. Drink now

This rich and strongly aromatic bottling shows marshmallow, cotton candy and banana cream on the nose. The palate picks up a freshness and flinty character, with rounded, ripe flavors of honeysuckle and lemon cream. The strong acidity and grippy texture keep the wine in line.

A fruity style, with plenty of Fuji apple and pastry notes that are well-oaked. Butter and spice details show on the juicy finish. Drink now. 53,000 cases made.
