Why Can't We Ship This Item?
Either the bottle is too large for our packaging (i.e. we cannot ship anything larger than 750 ml), the dimensions/shape of the bottle doesn't fit within our packaging for safe shipment, or this is a widely-distributed wine (e.g. Barefoot, Yellow Tail, etc) which we only sell at our physical store or for in-store pickup.

District / Sonoma County
View more wines from Sonoma County
Sonoma County, just north of San Francisco is one of California's most famous wine districts. While sometimes overshadowed by the reputation of its rival and neighbor, Napa Valley, Sonoma County has a longer history of viticulture and is twice the size of the former.
Thanks in part to a strong diversity of climates within Sonoma County, the district is home to outstanding examples from a whole host of grapes. Sonoma County Pinot Noirs are considered some of the finest in the state, and the Dry Creek Valley Zinfandels are remarkable. Chardonnays come in a variety of styles thanks to the varying temperatures in Sonoma County, and Cabernets and Merlots also thrive here.
Some of the more celebrated viticultural areas in Sonoma County include Sonoma Mountain, Sonoma Coast, Chalk Hill, Dry Creek Valley, Alexander Valley, and Carneros (parts of which fall within Napa Valley).

When it comes to US wine production, California is King. California wines account for almost 90% of all wines produced in the United States each year, and is home to the most celebrated vineyards and producers in the country. California is probably best known for its world-famous Cabernets and Chardonnays, many of which hail from its two most-acclaimed AVAs, Napa Valley and Sonoma County. Other prominent grapes used in California wines include Merlot, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, and Zinfandel (which California made popular).

2011 / 750 ml.
The 2011 Bettina is a bit closed in on itself. Dark red cherry, plum, licorice, smoke and tobacco emerge over time. Today the 2011 is a bit compact, which is not surprising considering the vintage. With time in the glass, the 2011 starts to find its typical explosive, dark personality, but today some slightly angular contours remain. The blend is 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot.
The 2011 Bettina is a strong effort in this challenging vintage. Notes of licorice, black olives, black and red currants, spicy wood and underbrush are all present in this medium-bodied, fleshy, open-knit, charming wine. Drink it over the next 10–12 years.

Napa Valley Red Wine

The 2011 ASTERISK is a drop-dead gorgeous wine, especially for a year that was so challenging. Freshly cut flowers, mint, super-ripe red berries and crushed rocks are totally alive in the glass in a wine that stands out for its energy, vibrancy and delineation. Fine grained tannins support the polished, impeccable finish. The 2011 Asterisk is a bit medium in body by Sloan standards, but it is notable for its balance and class. Sweet tobacco, licorice and savory herbs linger on the intensely aromatic, high-toned finish.

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
2011 / 750 ml.
The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Herold by Mark Herold is a significant step down in quality from the 2010, simply because of the vintage conditions. Although much lighter, it displays a dark ruby/purple color, attractive ripeness, and notions of berry fruit, black raspberries and blueberries, bouquet garni, and earthy notes. Medium-bodied with a good but uninspiring finish, it is a successful wine for the vintage, and is best drunk over the next decade.

Napa Valley Red Wine

The 2011 Sloan Estate has turned out beautifully. Readers will find more of an Old World flavor profile and sense of structure in the 2011, yet all the elements are very nicely balanced. Savory herbs, crushed flowers, lavender, mint and mocha all add lift to the perfumed dark red cherry fruit in this gracious, super-expressive Cabernet Sauvignon-based wine. The great sites always come through, even in the most difficult of vintages. I remember visiting Sloan Estate during the 2011 harvest and seeing first hand the attention to detail here. It’s no surprise the 2011 has turned out quite nicely.

Classic grass and grapefruit aromas drive the nose of this Sauvignon Blanc, while pithy lime, spicy pepper and kaffir lime-leaf flavors wash over the richly textured palate. Drink this with ceviche on a hot day by the pool. (Tom Capo)

A plummy richness is backed by some raspberry snap in this full-bodied, focused and flavorful wine. Vivid black cherries, cloves and a touch of toasted oak give the wine plenty to savor. Best from 2025. (Jim Gordon)
Packs a mix of cherry and raspberry fruit flavors that show good energy, while a zip of anise and red tea adds cut on the finish. Drink now through 2024. 6,740 cases made. (James Molesworth)

Lastly, the 2016 Zinfandel Reserve checks in as 85% Zinfandel, 13% Petite Sirah, and 2% Syrah that spent a full 20 months in 60% new French oak. Tons of black fruits, scorched earth, singed cedar, and chocolate notes emerge from this effort, and it’s sweetly fruited, medium to full-bodied, and packs plenty of fruit while staying balanced. There’s some obvious oak here yet it plays well with the spicy Zinfandel fruit and this certainly offers pleasure. This was a great vintage for Zinfandel, and you see the quality here. (Jeb Dunnuck)
The 2016 Zinfandel Reserve Dry Creek Valley has a deep ruby-purple color. The nose offers aromas of blueberries, boysenberry, raspberries and cherries with touches of apricot, cocoa, star anise and a spicy current. The medium to full-bodied palate offers loads of ripe fruits with firm, chewy tannins, juicy acidity and a long, sweet baking spice-laced finish. 640 cases were made.

Bright straw/silver-hued, the 2022 Chardonnay Sonoma County saw six months in 20% new French oak and is lifted in the glass with aromas of melon, white peach, citrus blossoms, and delicate baking spices. Medium-bodied and floral through the finish, it’s elegant and has a delicate, supple texture as well as a clean feel. It’s a very charming wine to enjoy over the near term and also an outstanding value. (Audrey Frick)

This sports strong singed savory notes out front, with a mix of steeped red and black currant fruit chasing them from behind. Bramble and anise elements score the finish, which shows a slightly rambunctious edge. Needs to settle in with some cellaring. Best from 2020 through 2025. 1,250 cases made. (James Molesworth)
