Consider using a light hand when adding water; once the right balance is found, delicate mint and dried herb flavors come through. "This is a funky, herbal, and brawny absinthe. The dark greenish-brown color louches to a swampy dark green. Earthy aromas include lemon balm, tarragon and star anise; louching brings anise to the foreground. There’s pure star anise flavor, with an aggressive, tarragon finish and a big, mouth-coating feel, which oddly grows even thicker with ice water. The apothecary bottle and label design is fun and appealing, but the cork closure makes it difficult to recap for storage." (87 pts.)
