Rich, with a spicy nose, this offers flavors of fig, dried apricot, mango and ginger. Complex and elegant, delivering concentrated crème brûlée and tropical fruit notes that linger on the vibrant and buttery finish. Drink now.
SP9393 pts. - Wine Spectator - Oct 15, 2023
Lovely, with a mix of persimmon, white peach, hazelnut, green tea and singed alder notes all moving together in streamlined harmony. The long, elegant finish has nice latent energy. Drink now. 8,000 cases imported. (James Molesworth)
WE9090 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 8/1/2006
Although this famous name has produced quite a light 20-year-old, that lightness is more than made up for by the beautiful, smooth flavors, the taste of lemon jelly, dried apricots and peaches, and fine, fresh acidity.

SP9393 pts. - Wine Spectator - Sep 30, 2023
This has racy, mouthwatering acidity coursing underneath the core notes of mulberry, bitter cherry and blackberry. Shows the streamlined tang of a coulis, while offering a range of additional bramble, anise and savory tea details through the finish. Delicious. Drink now through 2029. 27,000 cases made. (James Molesworth)
JS9393 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Wednesday, October 5, 2022
This has nice tension and tannic framing. Full-bodied, firm and lightly chewy with freshness, and spicy character to the ripe strawberry and cherry on the finish. Drink or hold.
WE9292 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 7/1/2023
Very smooth and fairly rich, this medium-bodied wine offers generous, ripe, black cherries, cinnamon and clove notes on a moderately tannic texture. It shows enticing oak spices along with invigorating fresh fruits. (Jim Gordon)

SP9393 pts. - Wine Spectator - Oct 15, 2023
A smooth red, with cherry, plum and spice flavors shaded by savory underbrush and wild herb accents. Shows iron and tobacco details on the long finish, with fine balance and grip overall. Prugnolo Gentile and Canaiolo. Best from 2024 through 2040. 10,000 cases made, 3,500 cases imported. (Bruce Sanderson)
JS9393 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Monday, August 8, 2022
Extremely perfumed and fresh with an elegant and attractive nose. Medium-bodied with ultra-fine, delicate tannins and a delicious finish. So delicious. Drink now.
VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2023
Wild herbs, black cherries and exotic spices create a wildly inviting bouquet as the 2019 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano opens in the glass. This is undeniably silky and elegant on the palate. Fleshy red fruits are neatly framed by bright acids, as balsam and mocha notes form toward the close. The 2019 leaves a gentle staining of fine tannins to linger, along with a sour citrus hint that adds contrast. This is simply a pleasure today but has short-term cellaring potential. (Eric Guido)

VN9898 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2023
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignor Howell Mountain is outrageously beautiful. A wine of extraordinary purity, the 2019 dazzles right out of the gate. The tannins are nearly silky for a young Howell Mountain Cabernet. Red/purplish fruit, lavender, spice, rose petal and pomegranate all build in this sumptuous, explosive Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2019 is one of the most elegant Cabernets I have tasted here, and that is saying something. What a wine! (Antonio Galloni)
SP9696 pts. - Wine Spectator - Nov 15, 2023
Lushly fruited, this sends waves of crushed plum, boysenberry compote and blackberry paste out from the core, with a strong undercurrent of cast iron and smoldering tobacco to boot. Grippy and dense, but with a sense of polish and a note of purity in the guise of a pretty violet echo. Best from 2025 through 2040. 3,750 cases made. (James Molesworth)

This Barbera is vibrant and lifted on the nose with expressive aromas of ripe blueberries, tart cherries and violets. The palate is plush and rich with flavors of cherry and raspberry preserves. The wine finishes with slight herbal notes and lively acidity. (Jeff Porter)

RP97+97+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 24th Aug 2023
The last wine poured at my tasting at the winery is the G.D. Vajra 2019 Barolo Bricco delle Viole. With its high vantage point in the hills west of Barolo, Bricco delle Viole is a world apart in terms of soils (with Sant’Agata marl and fossils) and even harvest times. Slow and careful ripening like the kind that characterizes fruit in 2019 renders a very delicate and ethereal expression with floral tones, wild mint and licorice. This organic wine is solid in build and structure. Indeed, Isidoro Vaira remarks that Nebbiolo tannins have changed since the 1970s and 1980s. Because of climate change and stylistic preference, they are more polished and accessible today. (Monica Larner)
SP9696 pts. - Wine Spectator - Oct 31, 2023
A juicy Barolo, with vibrant acidity and a fluid profile that exudes cherry, raspberry, mown hay, mineral and eucalyptus aromas and flavors. Tight yet long, with excellent potential. Best from 2027 through 2048. 1,250 cases made. (Bruce Sanderson)
