  1. Daou Pessimist

    2020 / 750 ml. | Item#79216

    RP9292 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 15th Mar 2022
Deep ruby-purple, the 2020 Pessimist is a blend of 62% Petite Sirah, 18% Syrah, 18% Zinfandel and 2% Lagrein, matured for 10 months in 60% new French oak. It’s scented of black cherries with touches of purple flowers, graphite and grilled meats, and the medium-bodied palate is grainy and fresh with a long, perfumed finish. This offers fantastic quality for the price. (Erin Brooks)
    JD9292 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 9/30/2021
Always a Petite Sirah-dominated wine, the 2020 Pessimist sports an inky purple color as well as a great, full-bodied style carrying wonderful blue fruits, spring flowers, spice, and vanilla aromas and flavors. It’s textured, has ripe tannins, loads of fruit, and is about as sexy and gulpable as they come. It’s one heck of a steakhouse red to enjoy over the coming 2–4 years. (Jeb Dunnuck)
    VN9191 pts. - Vinous - Jul 2022
Dark purple. Oak-spiced black and blue fruit, mocha and floral qualities on the nose. Broad and supple in texture, offering pliant blackberry, kirsch, vanilla and salty olive flavors that deepen steadily through the midpalate. Finishes long, smooth and spicy, with even tannins and resonating smokiness. 50% new French oak. (Josh Raynolds)

  2. Poggerino Chianti Classico

    2015 / 750 ml. | Item#88941

    SP9292 pts. - Wine Spectator - Sep 30, 2018
Though shy in aroma, this offers a beam of pure cherry flavor. Earth, leather, mineral and tobacco accents add depth. Harmonious, if youthful, with fine energy on the finish. Best from 2020 through 2028. 4,000 cases made.
    RP90+90+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st Oct 2017
The 2015 Chianti Classico is plump and ripe. It carries a full bouquet of exuberant fruit aromas with Morello cherry, blackberry and red rose. The wine is compact and complete. It offers good intensity and a high pleasure threshold. It is also naturally informal in approach, and that’s what makes it so easy to pair with your favorite Italian foods. If you are nostalgic for classic Sangiovese, this is your wine. Some 48,000 bottles were produced.

  3. Black Slate Porrera

    Vi de la Villa
    2014 / 750 ml. | Item#81606

    RP9292 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 28th Oct 2016
Part of the collection from different villages from Priorat, Cellar Cal Pla produced a 2014 Black Slate Porrera, which is a blend of 50% Garnacha with 40% Cariñena and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon. It is a village wine from 20- to 30-year-old vines on slate soils fermented in stainless steel and concrete vats and matured in 225- and 300-liter oak barrels (80% French oak, 20% Hungarian) for one year. The nose is beautiful, combining violets, a hint of beef blood, something ashy and an organic, soil note, developing a smoky bacon twist with time in the glass. The palate shows good integration of the oak, better than in the majority of wines from this winery. Beautiful flowers appear with time and made me go back to the glass again and again. There are 35,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in mid-June 2016.

  4. Planetes de Nin

    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#91207

    RP95+95+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Aug 2019
A 60/40 blend of Garnacha and Cariñena from the vineyard that names the wine, the 2016 Planetes de Nin saw a similar vinification and aging as the 2017 I tasted next to it, so the differences found were only due to the vintage and the moment of harvest. This is a fresher vintage, with tantalizing aromas that are subtle and elegant, with notes of violets and red cherries, nuanced and ever-changing in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied and nicely textured, with very fine tannins and fine chalky minerality. 9,108 bottles were filled in April 2017.
