  2. Chateau Maris Les Anciens

    Cru La Livinière
    2013 / 750 ml. | Item#86192

    RP91+91–93 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 29th Apr 2015
I loved the 2013 Minervois la Liviniere les Anciens, and this blend of 100% Carignan knocks it out of the park with its liquid violet, crushed rock, peppery herbs and fresh plum and berry fruits. Medium to full-bodied, with a seamless, elegant profile that the hallmark of the vintage, it has fine tannin and a great mid-palate. It should drink nicely on release and have 5–7 years of longevity.
    WS9090 pts. - Wine & Spirits - June 1, 2016
From vines planted in 1922, the fruit fermented in concrete tanks and open wooden vats, this is tough, tangy carignan, the fruit tart and red, like seedy raspberries laced with earthy spice. The tannin ropes through the wine like gristle in a steak, the wine chewy without being heavy. For carignan, it’s almost elegant.

    Cru La Livinière
    2012 / 750 ml. | Item#86538

    RP9292 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 29th Apr 2014
Made from 100% Syrah, the 2012 Minervois Syrah Les Planels is impressive! Offering classic cassis, raspberry, licorice and hints of vanilla, it has fabulous purity, a lively, yet voluptuous and layered texture and a great finish. Hard to resist now, it should evolve gracefully for a solid 7–8 years.
    SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Apr 30, 2016
There is a freshness behind the savory spice and meaty notes in this medium-bodied red, with bright red berry, plum and bitter chocolate flavors pushing through midpalate. Grippy tannins define the zesty, herb-tinged finish. Drink now through 2018. 1,100 cases made.

  4. Valle Reale Montepulciano d’Abruzzo

    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#91918

    VN9494 pts. - Vinous - Sep 2019
Bright red. Red cherry and flowers on the perfumed nose; much more fragrant than the 2017 Montepulciano d’Abruzzo. Then fresh and juicy, with bright red fruit repeating in the mouth. Finishes long and savory, showcasing notable purity. Outstanding cool-climate Montepulciano of noteworthy refinement. Very, very well done; I’m not sure readers fully realize just how hard it is to obtain a result of this level in a cold-weather environment such as that of Popoli. This success speaks loudly of the capability and talent of owner Leonardo Pinzolo and his Valle Reale technical team.
    WE8888 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 7/1/2020
This entry-level wine from Valle Reale is produced from organic grapes and sees no time in oak. The result is a pure, fresh wine that dazzles in flavors of tangy red plum and succulent red cherry. Lifted acidity and delicate, sandy tannins frame it all, giving it enough structure and verve to be enjoyed at the dinner table.

  5. Tilia Malbec

    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#68983

    RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Dec 2016
The youthful and aromatic 2016 Malbec has an alcohol level that is one degree lower than the 2015, as the grapes where harvested earlier because of the problems with the vintage. This ended up being an advantage to produce a light and very drinkable Malbec, balsamic and aromatic, even minty with something that reminded me of basil leaves. The palate is similar to the 2015, a tad fresher, and even if they are very similar in style this 2016 is more exuberant in the aromas. A triumph over the vintage. A perfect introduction to Mendoza Malbec at a very attractive price. Some 390,000 bottles produced.

  6. Cusumano Nero d’Avola

    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#75566

    JS9191 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Thursday, November 7, 2019
Elderberries, dried spices, blackberry crumble and raspberry cheesecake complete the picture of a fruity, attractive wine. Medium-bodied, round and spicy, heaping on endearing blue and dark fruit aplenty. Drink now.
    RP8888 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 17th Oct 2019
This wine has become part of the Sicilia DOC since the last time I tasted it. The 2018 Sicilia Nero d’Avola (closed with a glass cork) shows a dark color saturation and a terrific personality. The unoaked wine is bright and thick, with plenty of dark primary fruit to grab your attention. The intensity is there, but the complexity not so much. It hardly matters anyway because this wine is all about freshness and easy-drinking accessibility. I would pair it with my favorite spicy sausage and broccoletti pizza. Production is large at 700,000 bottles made, and you get great value here.
    SP8787 pts. - Wine Spectator - Apr 30, 2020
Bright acidity enlivens dark blackberry and currant fruit flavors in this medium-bodied red, along with light, supple tannins and hints of smoke, anise and grilled thyme. A fresh, accessible red. Drink now. 58,400 cases made, 22,000 cases imported.

Fresh carnation and raspberry are spiced up with peppercorns, smashed asphalt and turned earth on the complex nose of this bottling. The palate is quite cohesive in flavors of roasted cherry and ripe strawberry, with fennel pollen, crushed slate and baking spice adding depth.

    2017 / 750 ml. | Item#92170

    VN9393 pts. - Vinous - Sep 2020
The 2017 Chianti Classico Riserva Castello di Volpaia is an immensely rewarding, inviting wine. Juicy and racy, with no hard edges, the Riserva captures the allure of this warm, dry year. There is plenty to like in the 2017, starting with its depth and volume, I won’t be surprised if the Riserva turns out to be even better than this note suggests. Sweet red fruit, cedar and blood orange give the 2017 striking aromatic intensity and lift.

  11. Pesquié Edition 1912M

    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#89977

    JD9393 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - October 19, 2017
A new cuvee that’s from higher elevation vineyards, the 2016 Ventoux Edition 1912M is made from 70% Grenache and 30% Syrah that I suspect was brought up all in tank. It’s a ripe, sexy, yet concentrated wine that offers lots of black cherries, violets, lavender, raspberry and mineral-driven aromatics. Clean, medium to full-bodied, and with rock-solid mid-palate depth, it’s going to drink beautifully for upwards of a decade, although there’s absolutely no need to delay gratification.
    RP8888 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st Oct 2017
An entirely destemmed and tank-fermented blend of 70% Grenache and 30% Syrah, the 2016 Ventoux Edition 1912M references the height of the famous Mont Ventoux. This is a medium-bodied, almost gulpable red, boasting raspberry and blueberry fruit, light, supple tannins and a clean, refreshing finish. It’s picnic-perfect and could even take a slight chill if desired.

  12. Castello d’Albola Santa Caterina

    Chianti Classico Gran Selezione
    2015 / 750 ml. | Item#93548

    SP9595 pts. - Wine Spectator - May 31, 2019
Top notes of berry and dark flowers are underscored by earth, stone and tobacco flavors in this red, which is vibrant and elegant despite the dense structure, yet it’s the vibrant acidity that defines this overall. Shows terrific length. Best from 2022 through 2036. 2,000 cases made, 800 cases imported.
    JS9494 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Tuesday, September 11, 2018
This is a good example of a Gran Selezione where the fruit is the main attraction as opposed to the wood. It falls into red territory, which includes dried red plums, cranberries, dried nutmeg and rose petals. Full-bodied and rather Burgundian, if the comparison is permitted. Fine, velvety tannins, zesty acidity and a long, very structured finish. Drink now or hold.

    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#93389

    JS9494 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Thursday, January 30, 2020
A very spicy and fresh array of blueberries, ripe darker cherries and plums. Cassis aromas, too, as well as more savory notes of graphite and fragrant wood. The palate has very striking depth and presence with expansive, fleshy tannins carrying intense fruit flavors, in the darker spectrum of cherries and berries. Cocoa powder to close. Drink or hold.
