  1. I Veroni I Dōmi Chianti Rufina

    2017 / 750 ml. | Item#71695

    WE9292 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 5/1/2019
This fragrant, focused red boasts inviting earthy aromas of truffle, wild berry, tilled soil, new leather and blue flower. On the elegantly structured, youthfully austere palate, firm refined tannins accompany red cherry, crushed raspberry and star anise while fresh acidity provides balance. Drink 2020–2025.

Aromas of wet earth, turning to dark fruit, such as brambleberries. Medium body, fresh acidity and a vivid finish. A little tannic at the moment. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

  2. Poggio Il Castellare Brunello di Montalcino

    2015 / 750 ml. | Item#92944

    VN9393 pts. - Vinous - Apr 2020
The 2015 Brunello di Montalcino is seductive, with its sweet spices and floral tones in a bouquet that gives way to dusty black cherry with grounding notes of worn leather and shaved cedar. Dark, ripe fruits, propelled by vibrant acids, and a mix of cooling minerals, savory spice, and fine tannins settle in. The finish is long and structured, with resonating acids, as ripe red fruits and sweet spices slowly fade under an air of pretty red florals. This is a gorgeous expression that can be enjoyed now but will also perform beautifully over the medium term in the cellar. A wonderful mix of ripeness and structure.

  3. Colle Bereto Chianti Classico Gran Selezione

    2015 / 750 ml. | Item#94039

    SP9494 pts. - Wine Spectator - Oct 15, 2020
A lush, opulent style, this sports black cherry, plum, iron and subtle wild scrub aromas and flavors. Dense and burly, featuring a thick matrix of tannins, yet finds balance by the time the lingering finish fades away. Shows excellent complexity and power. Best from 2021 through 2038. 950 cases made, 700 cases imported.

A ripe and decadent Gran Selezione on the nose, this shows glazed cherries, dried red plums, hot stones, tea leaves and tobacco. Meanwhile, on the palate it is actually quite tight now, delivering firm not huge tannins and plenty of acidity-enhanced sour cherries. Drink from 2023.

  5. Basilisco

    Aglianico del Vulture
    2011 / 750 ml. | Item#92649

    RP9393 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 29th Apr 2015
The 2011 Aglianico del Vulture Basilisco is from the hottest vintage among the three wines (2009, 2010 and 2011) I tasted in this mini-vertical. In many ways, this is the most immediate and successful of the three wines thanks to the fact that the ripe fruit adds softness and fleshiness to counter the natural astringency of the Aglianico grape. Generous spice, tobacco and blackberry fruit are woven together with a thick and penetrating texture. Sweet tobacco appears on the close and signals that this wine is only at the beginning of a long evolution.

This red shows aromas of tar, dark berries and wet earth that follow through to a full body, juicy and ripe fruit and a firm tannin structure. Pretty wine that needs drinking now.

  6. Sordo Barolo

    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#95634

    JS9292 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Tuesday, August 4, 2020
A very fine-tannined red with creamy, polished tannins that run the length of the wine. It’s medium-bodied with pretty length and finesse. Drink or hold.
    RP8989 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 23rd Jul 2020
The Sordo 2016 Barolo is a well-priced and readily available wine. It is elegantly downplayed and subtle, offering typical Nebbiolo aromas of wild cherry, rose, licorice, cola and aniseed. It spreads over the palate with a fine and delicate texture, and you don’t feel its power until those youthful tannins kick in. Those tannins are a bit too aggressive now, so give it time. Winemaking involves extended maceration with submerged cap and concludes with 24 months in traditional Slavonian oak casks. An ample 150,000 bottles were made.
