National Wine Day is May 25th | WineDeals.com

National Wine Day is this Saturday! We celebrate wine every day of the year, but since this is an official observance, we assembled a list of some of our personal favorites to pass on to you. These are the wines our staff loves to drink when they're off the clock. We think you'll love them, too. Cheers to great wine!

Bastide Miraflors

Syrah & Vieilles Vignes de Grenache
2018 / 750 ml.

JD9595 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - March 22, 2021
Based on 74% Syrah and 26% Grenache brought up in in a combination of concrete tanks (for the Grenache) and one year old demi-muids (for the Syrah), the 2018 Cotes Du Roussillon Bastide Miraflors is a knockout bottle of wine. It offers loads of black fruits, roasted herbs, peppered meat, violets, and bacon fat as well as full-bodied richness, a round, opulent style, ripe tannins, and a blockbuster finish. It’s one of the finest values out there. (Jeb Dunnuck)

Meaty black fruit, black pepper and some sweet spices. Juicy and flavorful with full body, rounded by a mouthful of resolved tannins. Long and spicy finish. An outstanding monastrell that shows great value, too. Drink or hold. (James Suckling)

RP9393 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 28th Feb 2017
Deep garnet in color, the 2014 Zinfandel Fighting Brothers offers an abundance of black fruit preserves and blueberry pie notes plus underlying spice cake, incense and chocolate box hints. The richly fruited, full-bodied palate is packed with dried berries and spice layers, framed by velvety tannins and much needed freshness, which contributes a lively lift to the weighty finish.

Ripe raspberry and briary sage aromas open to plump, sweet-sour flavors of cherry and licorice. Drink now through 2022. 300 cases made. (Tim Fish)

Loads of black cherries, licorice, sappy garrigue, and peppery meat notes emerge from the 2018 Côtes Du Roussillon, a medium to full-bodied, nicely textured, balanced Roussillon with silky tannins and loads of charm. Drink this sexy, pleasure-bent 2018 over the coming 4–5 years. (Jeb Dunnuck)

This broad, spicy wine offers ample oak accents over good, dark plums and blueberries, while fine-grained tannins firm up the mouthfeel just enough. Cinnamon, cedar and cloves all contribute to the welcoming aromas and flavors. (Jim Gordon)

This has some flesh to envelop the peach, apple, lemon and stony mineral flavors. Balanced, with the flavors building nicely to a lingering conclusion. Enjoyable now, but there's no rush. Drink now through 2027. 4,000 cases made, 1,000 cases imported. (Bruce Sanderson)

Aeris Chardonnay

WE9191 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/31/2023
Milky aromas and a subtle blend of oak, butter and baking spices invest this medium-bodied and well-balanced wine with good complexity. Balancing richness with a tang of acidity, the wine is both appetizing and rather deep. (Jim Gordon)

Wet stone, tropical flowers and white melon aromas make for a compelling nose on this bottling of a widely available, downright cheap Chardonnay. The palate stays clean as well, with gardenia and stone fruit flavors working in tandem. (Matt Kettmann)

Montes de Leza Edición Limitada Rioja

Bright cherry-red to the eye, this wine offers a bouquet of cranberry, black olive paste and rose petal. Bright on entry, it has flavors of raspberry, pomegranate, cocoa butter, eucalyptus and Turkish delight. A touch of baking spice and plush tannins carry into the enduring finish. (Mike DeSimone)
JS9292 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Friday, September 9, 2022
Spiced cherries, plums, tobacco and a meaty undertone with some black earth. A fresh and juicy Rioja with seductive berries and plums on the palate, rounded by precise, dusty tannins. Excellent length and fruit. 100% tempranillo. Delicious now, but can hold. (James Suckling)
