  1. Dr. Konstantin Frank Dry Riesling

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#77978

    RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 8th Oct 2020
The 2019 Dry Riesling comes in with 8.5 grams per liter of residual sugar, 8.1 of total acidity and 11.5% alcohol. My tongue is still tingling — the sugar here merely prevents the acidity from running away with this wine, but there is plenty of power on the gripping and tense finish. After the enticing and classic aromatics, this finishes with a bang. There is a hint of petrol as it warms and airs out, but not much. Beautifully done and very elegant, it’s another fine value from the winery this issue.

  6. Boundary Breaks Riesling Reserve No. 198

    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#86262

    RP8888 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 28th Jun 2019
The 2018 Riesling Reserve “No. 198 Single Clone” is made by Kelby Russell at Red Newt from Boundary Breaks’ estate vines. It comes in with 44 grams of sugar, 7.5 of total acidity and only 8.0% alcohol. This definitely leans to the sweeter side, but it won’t be sloppy sweet — in particular, to avoid the rain in 2018, it was picked early and becomes more of a Kabinett stylistically than a Spätlese, said owner Bruce Murray. It’s still off-dry, of course, but it doesn’t seem nearly as sweet as statistics would suggest. It was picked at 18 Brix, rather than a typical 22.5.
