From the Producer

The 2013 wines enjoy a lively acidity and softer tannins as well as a pleasurable gentleness. Different sides to this wine’s character emerge tasting after tasting. The wine has very high levels of polyphenols and the colour is intense. The exquisite elegance and refinement, paired with lasting and lingering bouquets, are all ideal indicators for long bottle ageing.

Critical Acclaim

WE94 Wine Enthusiast 5/1/2018

"Heady aromas suggesting pipe tobacco, leather, licorice and balsamic notes abound on this full-bodied red. The savory polished palate offers juicy Marasca cherry, cranberry and star anise alongside firm fine-grained tannins. A backbone of bright acidity lends balance and freshness. Drink 2023–2033." (94 pts.)

VN92 Vinous Apr 2018

"Bright red. Sweet spice, ripe red cherry, licorice and flowers on the nose and in the mouth. Smooth and bright, and though not exactly the last word in concentration or complexity, this is downright irresistible in its juicy, fruity appeal. Podere Brizio recently changed ownership and now belongs to Dievole, the Chianti Classico producer (Podere Brizio’s previous owner, Roberto Bellini, is the man who sold the Chiesa di Santa Restituta estate to Gaja, who renamed it Pieve di Santa Restituta)." (92 pts.)

RP92 Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate 28th Feb 2018

"Dievole (based in Chianti Classico) owns Podere Brizio. The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino opens to a medium garnet appearance with dark ruby highlights. The nose is beautifully balanced and elegant, with delicate berry nuances that are successfully contrasted against spice, tar and licorice. It closes with a polished feel and lingering tones of dried mint and licorice. Overall, the wine is lightweight and streamlined, but it also delivers impressive elegance." (92 pts.)

Tuscany

There are few regions as picturesque as Italy's Tuscany. And there are few regions that produce finer wines, either. Tuscany is home to legendary wine regions Brunello di Montalcino and Chianti, among others, where the red wine grape Sangiovese is king. It's also home to "Super Tuscans," a category of Tuscan wines that don't officially fall within the Italian wine classification system.

Italy

Italy is famous for its powerful, sleek, and elegant reds wines from ancient growing areas with legendary names such as Chianti, Barolo, Barbaresco, Montepulciano. Italian white wines are also gaining popularity: Orvieto, Pinot Grigio, and Sauvignon are excellent examples of Italian white wines.

Wines of Italy are complex and flavorful, much like the culture that is their source and the cuisine that is their match.
