Wine Grapes

Primary Grape: Cabernet Sauvignon | All Grapes: 79% Cabernet Sauvignon

From the Producer

This wine is a rich and layered Bordeaux-style blend that balances the density and power of our estate vineyard’s Cabernet Sauvignon with the silky texture and perfumed aromatics of our best blocks of Cabernet Franc. Lush flavors and supple structure make this wine generous in its youth, while allowing it to age gracefully for many years to come.

Critical Acclaim

RP94+ Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate 30th Sep 2019

"A blend of Bordeaux varieties, the 2016 M by Marciano displays a medium to deep garnet-purple color. It is a little youthfully subdued to begin, opening with delicate notions of fresh mulberries, black cherries and warm blackcurrants with hints of raspberry leaves, forest floor, violets and black tea plus touches of cedar chest and charcoal. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has fantastic energy, with layers of black fruits and earthy sparks supported by lovely freshness and a solid grainy texture, finishing long with an herbal lift." (94+ pts.)

SP90 Wine Spectator Jun 30, 2019

"Juicy, with dark currant and blackberry fruit showing good energy, while light charcoal, tobacco and roasted cedar notes fill in through the finish. Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2020 through 2026. 385 cases made." (90 pts.)

Napa Valley

Napa Valley is California's -- and America's -- most famous and celebrated wine district. Located north of San Francisco, Napa Valley is most famous for its world-class Cabernets and Chardonnays. The region's acclaim officially took off following a 1976 tasting in Paris when renowned judges chose a Napa Chardonnay and Cabernet over top French wines made from the same grapes.

Most wineries in the region produce either a Chardonnay or a Cabernet, and usually it's both. Sauvignon Blanc and Zinfandel are also grown with success in Napa Valley. You'll likely recognize the names of some of the viticultural areas within Napa Valley, including St. Helena, Stag's Leap and Carneros.

California

When it comes to US wine production, California is King. California wines account for almost 90% of all wines produced in the United States each year, and is home to the most celebrated vineyards and producers in the country. California is probably best known for its world-famous Cabernets and Chardonnays, many of which hail from its two most-acclaimed AVAs, Napa Valley and Sonoma County. Other prominent grapes used in California wines include Merlot, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, and Zinfandel (which California made popular).

United States

The United States now ranks fourth in the world in wine production behind, France, Italy, and Spain. While about 90% of that wine is produced in California, other states like Oregon, New York, and Washington are establishing themselves as prime spots for wine production, as well. Just about any variety of wine can be found in production somewhere in the United States.
