Expressive notes of raspberry, pomegranate, and cranberry, are supported by dried tea leaf and tobacco on the nose. The palate is layered texturally and has rich, pronounced blackberries and ripe plum. Soft, fine-grained tannins and smoky, dark chocolate linger through the finish.

When it comes to US wine production, California is King. California wines account for almost 90% of all wines produced in the United States each year, and is home to the most celebrated vineyards and producers in the country. California is probably best known for its world-famous Cabernets and Chardonnays, many of which hail from its two most-acclaimed AVAs, Napa Valley and Sonoma County. Other prominent grapes used in California wines include Merlot, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, and Zinfandel (which California made popular).

The United States now ranks fourth in the world in wine production behind, France, Italy, and Spain. While about 90% of that wine is produced in California, other states like Oregon, New York, and Washington are establishing themselves as prime spots for wine production, as well. Just about any variety of wine can be found in production somewhere in the United States.

Jenkins is a Charlie Chenoweth-farmed site, an 18-acre vineyard in the Sebastopol Hills. Spicy acidity cradles considerable weight and breadth, accented in rose petals, cardamom and an elusive partnership of raspberry and strawberry. It’s entirely exotic and delicious, both concentrated and lush.
RP92+92+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 27th Apr 2016
More is produced of the 2014 Pinot Noir Jenkins Ranch (1,342 cases), which comes from an 18-acre vineyard west of the small village of Sebastopol. This is classic Goldridge gravelly, loamy soil in the vineyard, planted with Dijon clones 667 and 777. This wine tends to be a relatively rich, intense, more broodingly backward, fuller-bodied and extracted style of Pinot Noir. It has a dark ruby/plum color, a big sweet kiss of forest floor, black raspberries and black cherries, spices, and hints of cocoa and oak (about 60% new French oak is used). This is full-bodied with light tannin and should improve for 3–4 years and drink well for at least another decade.
SP8888 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2016
Tense and gutsy, with a strong personality built around tar- and earth-laced smokiness, tilting toward a savory dryness that becomes the dominant feature. Drink now. 1,342 cases made.

Sturdy and flavorful, a good structure supports ample black cherry and blackberry flavors in this moderately tannic and full- bodied wine. It tastes deep and ripe, with light oak spice accents.

A straightforward nose of peach and passion fruit, backed by a grassy, green herb pungency, leads into a fruity, slickly textured palate that sees lifted acidity but finishes on the sour side.
