"The initial bouquet offers scents of buttered toast and almond paste; further aeration stimulates exotic scents of dried fruit, black pepper and white chocolate. Palate entry is viscous, malty and sweet; mid-palate adds flavors of sweet oak, marzipan, vanilla cake frosting, spice and baked pears. Concludes as elegantly and gracefully as it began. One of the three or four best blended Scotch whiskeys available." (96–100 pts.)

"This amber blend of 15 whiskies, each aged at least 18 years, yields a mellow, balanced mix of sweet caramel, raisin and smoky notes, all lingering and pleasing. Serve chilled, possibly as a dessert pairing." (93 pts.)

"Medium gold in color. The nose is immediately heathery and honeyed, then some fruits — ripe oranges — come into play along with a wonderful camphor-like aroma and a dash of peat. The body is big and lush, and the palate, spicy and peppery at first, bears a complex multitude of flavors: smoldering wood. overripe fruits, old, supple leather, fresh ginger and a very pleasant mossy/earthy backdrop. The finish is nicely spiced and lasts a very long time." (96 pts.)

"Light amber orange color. The malty bouquet emits mature, evolved scents of cocoa, buttered nuts, soft fruit and paraffin. The oily mouth presence is exceptionally velvety at entry; at midpalate, sweet, estery flavors of ripe pears, grain mash and oak enchant the taste buds. Aftertaste is peppery and candied. What makes this whisky so sublime is the backbone malt whisky from the Clynelish Distillery. The finest Johnnie Walker in the marketplace." (90–95 pts.)
