Where It's From

Region / Champagne

View more wines from Champagne

Bring on the bubbly! Perhaps no other wine region in the world has the name recognition of Champagne, to the point where people often mistakenly use the word "Champagne" to describe any sparkling wine. Yet only wines produced within the region can legally be called "Champagne," and to this day it produces some of the finest sparkling wines known to earth.

Country / France

View more wines from France

The French did not invent winemaking. They simply perfected it. For centuries, France has been producing wines that inspire poetry, awe, and wonder; wines that blur the lines between nature, craftsmanship, cuisine and art. These are the wines that inspired cultures around the globe to follow in France’s footsteps, planting Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, Grenache, Merlot, Semillon and more.

Yet as often as they are emulated, the magic of their terroirs can never be duplicated. You may taste Cabernet from around the world, but perhaps none as elegant and regal as Bordeaux. You may try Pinot Noir or Chardonnay from various climates, but none with the earth-bound soul and ethereal reach of Burgundy.

Here is an excellent example of what the underrated pinot meunier grape can do for a non-vintage champagne. Such a charming nose of summer flowers, red berries and ripe apples. Very bright and lively in spite of the restrained creaminess on the palate. Long, elegant finish. Drink now. (Stuart Pigott)
SP9191 pts. - Wine Spectator - Nov 30, 2018
A well-cut, chalky Champagne, offering flavors of kumquat, white cherry and almond biscotti. The firm edges are nicely swathed and balanced by the fine mousse, and a streak of salinity drives the finish. Disgorged February 2018. Drink now through 2021. 1,833 cases made, 500 cases imported. (Alison Napjus)
RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Apr 2020
Disgorged after 36 months on the lees and with eight grams per liter dosage, the latest release of the NV Brut Reflets de Rivière offers up attractive aromas of dried white flowers, toasted nuts, fresh peach and orchard fruit. Medium to full-bodied, pillowy and expressive, it’s lively and charming, complemented by a delicate low-pressure mousse. This Pinot Meunier-dominated blend is drawn from a solera established in 1980. (William Kelley)

The NV Champagne Reflets de Riviere Brut pours a pale straw with a brilliant hue. The nose is fresh with soft candied aromas of white flowers, cotton candy, lime blossom, melon, and fresh pear. Medium-bodied with juicy notes of fresh apricot and tangerine, it is balanced and approachable, with a clean hit of salinity on the end. A fresh, fruity wine with a medium build, it is ready to drink over the next 10 years. (Audrey Frick)

RP91+91+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 23rd Sep 2021
Disgorged in spring 2020 with 4.5 grams per liter, the new NV Brut Ultradition exhibits aromas of toasted bread, honeycomb and golden orchard fruit. On the palate, it’s medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, girdled by incisive acids and enlivened by a pinpoint mousse. Expect more complexity to emerge with a bit more age on cork. As in its extra-brut counterpart, domaine fruit is supplemented by some 40% purchased must in this bottling.
